      My iPhone has caller ID, but if you're an unidentified caller and leave no message? You are blocked. I've probably blocked someone inadvertently that perhaps in the future would say "I was trying to call you!" oh well. Don't open your front door to everybody is another. Look through the peep-hole, ask if you can help them? If female say something aloud like"Jack hold the dog back, someone's at the door", stuff like that. I actually am anti-gun but have a recording from a rifle range of a 12 gage pump action. Everybody knows that sound from Westerns or otherwise. Should I be able to collect m'self to play it on the other side of the the door I would hope that particular sound would encourage marauders to go away. Got the sound after I had to chase off a group of six from my front door and I was absolutely alone, middle of the night too.
      Not all financial safety tips here, but stay safe everybody!

      On a cell phone, don't ever choose the option to "save login" or "save password" for easy access. It saves this data in files on your cell phone, and hackers can access these files easily and see your app login ids and maybe even saved passwords. I know it's a hassle, but always just sign in with an id and password when using an app or web site.
      Also, I recommend not installing and using your bank's cell phone app. Instead, just use their website, and when done and logged off, close the tab and close down your browser. Hackers can easily see what apps are loaded on your phone, and right there they could see what bank you use, and maybe even see a cached id.

      They get hacked all the time. Realtors are pretty gullible because they see every contact as a big payday. As a result, they open emails that you and I would not, they open attachments and click links that you and I would ignore. I know this from several brokers who are constantly dealing with hackers due to the agents in their offices repeatedly clicking those links and opening files in emails.

    Scams are on the rise, I recently bought a condo in Florida and my house in Arnold Maryland. On both cases the banks & title company were almost militant and neurotic about making darn sure we did not miss wire the funds explaining that if they're gone, they're gone. I commend the title company and my bank for looking out after me, no issues occurred. The money transfer was good but that's a very scary reality. My bank warned me about a call, an email, a text, or other form of communication saying we need you to adjust your routing.

      Freeze your credit at all three credit bureaus. Most Companies usually only use one pacific credit bureau to check your credit.
      You can unfreeze that
      in their presents and when the credit is checked freeze it again. My husband and I came with in one hair of bei g victims of financial fraud by a home repair company because we needed a new roof with the shakes removed .
      I got out of a scam contract by contacting American telegraph Co and had the contract canceled before the three day cancelation window.
      The contract was going to scam us out of 100 grand by running a credit line. They intended to constantly siphon money and abandon the job with the house torn apart, with no customer service, calls answered and they would go no contact.

    If your password manager and two-factor identification are on your phone you are still susceptible to SIM Swapping scams.

    • @foundryfinancial
      @foundryfinancial  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      SIM swapping would not allow you access to 1Password (it requires a master password) but definitely on text-two factor. That’s a good argument for using an authentication app.

    This is good, esp the examples of AI. My favorite tip is the safe word and it doesn’t even need to be set up ahead of time, although that’s best. Just take the time to get to know the people you do business with so you can use the knowledge to verify their identity. Also, turn off SImm card swaps on your wireless plan, esp if you have an electronic SIMM card. The biggest issue is the wait times for customer service and the inability to get back to an agent you’ve been working with. Businesses need to step up to make this easier with the fraud out there.

    When freezing your credit make sure it is a FREEZE and not a LOCK. A freeze is federally regulated. A LOCK however is a product the credit bureaus push because it makes them money and it's not federally regulated.

  • @briangc1972
    @briangc1972 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Better than a password manager is to not use your computer to access your bank accounts. Use it only for credit card accounts, but never for checking or savings. If you do not absolutely need to do it online, the old school way is safest.

    Google has a call screening thing that will answer the number I don't recognize and asks the call to say why they are calling. I can see a transcript as they speak. Also I can still answer while they are speaking if I choose. If I don't answer I receive a transcript when they end the call. This has been helpfull.

    This is really getting scary, like in the movies. Life imitating [the] arts [of the inauthentic!]
    I notice it is the urgency (or incitement factor). But has anyone also notice youTube videos skip in rapid-fire between the key points being conveyed makes it appear like spliced segments of different videos. That also is the visual clue that stands out in AI generated videos which upcoming improvements will eventually make flawless to undiscerning eyes.

    Scammers are calling all the time and they will continue to do so. The best solution is not answering the phone... If someone legitimate he/she will leave a message. Based on the message you can decide if you will call back or not. Do not let anyone fool you with AI or any other scams.
