So true and so beautiful..I am not Hawaiian by birth or blood but by heart I love these beautiful islands, it's people, it's culture, it's legends...I too cry in my heart from the over development and lack of forsight on preservation of this beautiful aina. Hawaii needs leaders with this in mind 1st and foremost not all about the money and new attractions that keep bringing in droves of people. Also I feel that in order to own a home or land in Hawaii one must live here full time not just buy as an investment. Thank you beautiful sister for the heartfelt Aloha.
I love Molokai. I met Kumu John Kaimikaua many many years and studied with he and his wife Ka'oi. He was an amazing soul. I loved to listen to him chant for he sounded like the elements he was chanting about. You carry his mana. Mahalo for sharing your mana'o. I wish you all of God's love in all you are, all you do. Molokai aina momona. Amene.
Not sure where you got your opinions from, but you have a right to them. I would just ask that you try to better understand who and what you speak of before making such bold and broad statements. I agree that every culture/society has its share of problems and challenges and that there are always those who are hateful and angry, but what Malia speaks of in this video is focusing on the positive and beautiful aspects of Molokai and her people. It's the only way to move beyond the negative.
I hope that the Hawaiins do get back to their sense of community and not take on the evils that were brought over by the fast life of the mainland. The people of Hawaii are beautiful and their love of Hawaii is respectable. I just hope they can understand and respect that those who are not like them also want to love Hawaii. Yes there is the developers who seem so greedy. We have that everywhere but the mainland shouldnt be judged as the same. Your words are heartfelt -peace and God Bless.
