  • NOTES:
1:58: When I say "accept", this does not mean don't accept people for who they are or what they have gone through. It means we should point our each other and ourselves in the right direction, instead of accepting and repeating sin.
2:23: I say "sex" as a negative thing, I mean this in the context of sexual immortality- hookups, etc. Sex is NOT a bad thing as it is. I realize I did not make that clear.
This video on self love is definitely more serious, but I can't help but get passionate when the lord reveals truth to me. Self love sounds great, but the movement tells us we are enough on our own. In no place but it turn over to Jesus. So let’s talk about self love from a Christian perspective, why it is NOT biblical, and how this keeps distracted. We are spiritual beings designed to surrender!

Yes!! I’ve been saying this for years. We already love ourselves, we don’t need to be taught it. We’re selfish in nature.

@@ItsJanelleNicole we can play with this and say self care is a good thing, I love caring for myself, in a big way! But it’s out of obedience.
      Romans 12:2-4
2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will.
When we don’t take care of oneself, we conform and then we cannot test and approve of God‘s perfect will. So I’m doing it for a much deeper reason.
This is the true secret to forever weight management and joy!!
Self care done in obedience. ❤️✝️❤️✝️

    how to spell Joy:
    J - (put) Jesus first
    O - (put) others next
    Y - (put) yourself last
I find this to be quite true. even if I'm not doing to great if I can help others out I think it gives my life more meaning

While it's essential to prioritize our faith in Jesus and care for others, self-love isn't incompatible with these values. In fact, it's crucial to remember the metaphor of putting on your own oxygen mask before assisting others on an airplane. This isn't selfish; it's practical. If we don't care for ourselves, we won't be able to fully support or care for others.
Self-love isn't about putting ourselves before God or others, but rather, it's about nurturing our own well-being so that we can better serve and love those around us. It's not selfish to take care of ourselves; it's necessary. By practicing self-love, we're actually better equipped to live out our faith and be there for others.

there were times in the past where I could've helped this girl in my class who was struggling but I was too self absorbed and that stopped me from seeing her pain since I was too focused on myself

Hello, I watched your video on self-love, and I appreciate the time and effort you put into sharing your perspective. However, I'd like to offer a different point of view on this topic. As a Christian who values self-love, I believe it's essential to distinguish between self-love and sinful behavior. Self-love, in the context of psychology, is about nurturing our mental, emotional, and physical well-being to be our best selves and to love others more fully. It isn't about condoning harmful actions or disregarding the consequences of our choices.
You mentioned that self-love encourages people to consume 'poison,' referring to unhealthy food choices. However, labeling foods as 'good' or 'poison' can create an unhealthy perspective on eating. A more balanced approach to nutrition is essential for long-term well-being. Encouraging self-love means promoting mindful and intuitive eating habits, where individuals are empowered to make food choices that honor both their health and their enjoyment. It's important to remember that labeling foods in extreme terms like 'poison' can create unnecessary guilt or shame around eating and may not be effective in helping people develop healthier eating behaviors. Instead, self-love encourages a positive relationship with food, allowing people to make informed choices that support their overall well-being.
I understand your concerns about the potential for selfishness, but self-love does not mean being self-absorbed. Rather, it's about cultivating our own well-being so that we can better serve and care for others.
While it's true that some people may misinterpret or misuse the concept of self-love, it's important to remember that these instances do not negate the true value and purpose of self-love. As Christians, I believe we can embrace self-love and acknowledge our self-worth, while still striving to grow, love others, and live according to our faith.
Thank you for providing an opportunity for discussion and reflection on this topic. I hope we can all continue to learn from one another and explore the nuances of self-love in a constructive way.
    TL;DR:
Self-love is about nurturing well-being, not promoting sinful behavior.
A balanced approach to nutrition is essential for long-term well-being.
    Self-love doesn't equate to selfishness or self-absorption.
Misinterpreting self-love doesn't negate its true value.
As Christians, we can embrace self-love while living according to our faith.

Hi there! I appreciate your comment and you make valid points! I am speaking to self-love as the movement that is being promoted and advertised, not as much about taking care of yourself/nurturing yourself. The way people are taking this today, it is very much a distraction and not a good one.
I agree with what you say about food as well! I don’t think I called food poison at all- just that if I ate everything my flesh wanted I would be extremely unhealthy as would many. It was an example, but trust me, I have had bad ideas of food in the past so not trying to demonize any foods here!

@@ItsJanelleNicole Thank you for your thoughtful response! I appreciate your clarification and understand your concern about the self-love movement being misconstrued or taken to an extreme. It's true that there can be a difference between the core concept of self-love and the way it's sometimes portrayed in popular culture.
While it's important to be mindful of the potential for self-love to become a distraction, I believe that many people genuinely use the concept to improve their well-being and relationships with others. It's crucial to focus on the positive aspects of self-love and how it can be used in a healthy, balanced way.
Regarding the example with food, I apologize for misunderstanding your original intention. I agree that excessive indulgence can be detrimental to our health, and it's important to find a balance between satisfying our desires and taking care of our bodies.
