Your neat example with the bdim / open string part immediately put me in mind of Page and 10 years gone. As always these videos bear study and application. You're a legend.
Love your show. Your accent is charming. Your mastery of English idioms enhances your teaching. Your knowledge of music theory is astounding for a non-career musician. You are intriguing!
Great lesson. A plug for Tomasso course on mastering chords. After following his channel for about a year I decided to take his course. His teaching fits my learning. In a short 3 weeks I’ve expanded my theory literacy. It’s work. But it’s fun to see how the musical pieces of the puzzle fit. Plenty more to learn but it’s been rewarding.
Great video as always, clear and concise! I feel like the 2 audio samples (around 02:06) for Am E7 and Am G#°7 are mixed up with each other, I heard an F in the first one (or is it just a rootless E7b9?)
Great video. I call the fifth mode of the harmonic minor scale a mixolydian scale with a flat 2 and a flat 6. I don't know if it is a correct name but is easier to remember I think.😀
Really good stuff. Thanks for the explanation and the examples. I learn this scale using de 5 mode to prepare the minor. I call mixolidian B9 B13, is the same. But I think u forget to talk about the augmented arpeggios, intervals of major 3, very helpful in harmonic and melodic minor, is the basic elements. But u still find examples I didn't expect... thanks for the explanations. I really like yours videos is so easy to understand. Thanks again master.
I've learnt so much about music theory and aural dynamics from your videos. I play piano, not guitar. Do you have materials applicable to the keyboard too? Brilliant channel. Love your passion and knowledge.
I have some, but it depends on what you want to study. If you write me at tommaso@musictheoryforguitar.com we can figure out how can I help, or if not I can try and find an alternative for you.
Thanks for this1 Im still learning btheory so didnt undderstand the whole video but it wasreally helpful! im working on a composition in te a minor harmonic scale (i think) and was wondering how to write the key signature for this , without just using accidnetals but im not sure if this is possible...
Don't you mean: you can't write melodies *without* using harmonic minor? What's that you say? I'm listening to too much Yngwie J Malmsteen? Preposterous!
At the beginning it was "Hello internet, so nice to see you", but at a musical event someone told me that she loved that I called my audience "the internets"- and I loved it - so now I say "Hello internets, so nice to see you". Not that, with my accent, there is any difference eh? ;-)
I'm a bit stuck here. I have this progression and it goes Am9>Caug>Dm6/A>EmMaj7. How is it that this sounds correct to me but there is no F#/Eb in A harmonic minor, making the last chord incorrect? Maybe I'm looking at this wrong, here's the exact tab 5795xx . Xx10.998 . Xx7767 . 079667 I also note that the dm6/A could be a Baug but it's the last chord which is a problem. It seems like the correct resolve to my ear and I dont understand why?
Yes. There are several options available for all the courses you see on my website. If you write me at tommaso@musictheoryforguitar.com we can figure out what are the best options for you.
Well, let me just point out for posterity that Rick put out his video AFTER I uploaded mine HEHE :) Then again, after just 2 hours Beato has 10 times the view I have... :-(
Ciao vedo la descrizione scritta in italiano........ l'inglese lo parli molto bene......ma chiedo una cosa complicata se aggiungi i sottotitoli in italiano?
I don't understand the desire to have all the notes in a scale in a chord for harmony. It's like every time a note is played in the melody that note has to be in the DNA of the harmonising chord. Bob Marley's Exodus is a one chord song, if I remember correctly. I can't imagine that the whole melody of the song uses just the 3 notes in Am. Maybe I should check that. And it's not like it's not a great song either.
Music theory is so much fun! You and Jake Lizzio from Signals Music Studio are my favorites to watch!
Yeah my favourites too😄😄👍🏻
They both make learning graspable for us mere mortals 🔥🔥
Jake is an awesome teacher!
Jake makes me have fun with music theory. Great content!

Masterfully done my friend!
Nice and instructive material!

Excelente lección, muchas gracias!
I am pretty sure that the whole music style of Yngwie Malmsteen has been exhausted with this wonderful lesson. Thanks, Tommaso!
Thank you ! I would absolutely love to hear you talk about Harmonic MAJOR as well :D I love this scale :p
Great video! Much love from America, still stuck in quarantine over here so these videos have been keeping me busy
What wonderfulness. Loved also your flamenco parralels and mood established there. Thanks also for that
Thank you for this. I am picking up music again. Got to have good news too.

Grande Tommaso, hai svelato la mia scala preferita, ora posso provare a vederla da una differente prospettiva
I love your videos, i use them as a warmup to playing. Helps me get in the mood. This one actually taught me something ive never seen before. 🤘🤘
good lesson ....
I've always loved the sound of this scale. Thanks for the video 👍
Me encanta tu acento. Me recuerda al de Mario Bros. Gracias por el contenido. Justo queria aprender esta escala
Thank you again. You are awesomeness
Gracias, maestro!
THANK YOU TOMASSO......I LOVE HARMONIC MINOR.....
in my mind it is the gypsy jazz scale weapon for minor tunes, even if Django never used it straight i think. thanks for the vid!
can you please make a video about ear training in depth and how o harmonize with the melody
I first learned phrygian dom out of some book that called it spanish flamenco. I called it that for years...
5:51 I don't know why but I can hear Thom Yorke humming over this...
I wish you could produce a hardcopy based on Piano example. Could you?
The explanation, why the Phrygian Dominant Scale is called a Dominant Scale was actually quite interesting. Could you do a video about Scalenames?
Man, thank you so much for your content, it's really helpful 👍, specially for musicians that are not in college haha. Keep going 👊

Top video!
I hear Al DiMeola's first five solo albums in this scale.
Lol. Almost all of it is because of the Latin and Flamenco influence. Also Egyptian Danza
Love the accent bro. You speak in harmonic minor.

yeah for the harmonic minor scale!:)
every time he says Hello Internet I cant not to laugh))
I've always heard "internets".... Even funnier... Am I wrong on this?

What’s D13 noz?
Great Monte python reference
Love the surprise monty python reference 😆
Hi! I've been struggling with soloing for a while. It's sounds just... boring. Scale played up and down. Do you have any tips for me?
Just stop going up and down the scale. Think about melodies and chord tones.
4:36 🤣😂👏👏👏!!!
Ciao vedo la descrizione scritta in italiano........ l'inglese lo parli molto bene......ma chiedo una cosa complicata se aggiungi i sottotitoli in italiano?
Purtroppo si', e' complicato... :-(
That is not exactly the Spanish Phrygian. It has actually both thirds. You need the minor third for the Andalusian Cadence iv-III-bII-I.
¡Salud!
every time i see this video i always forget about spam makes me laugh so hard lmao
Is the e7 dominant or minor
dominant
Do you have anything without so much spam in it?
Well, I have spam egg bacon and spam. There's not much spam in it.
@@MusicTheoryForGuitar Oh, alright then.
Bella zi
Why is it called "harmonic" when it has two diminished and an augmented chord in it?
It has a V7 that essential for writing V-I progression

So many names of Phyrigian dominant.

Spanish sounding.
Once again minor? Why? Harmonic Major is much more interesting :(
