Teaching the Taualuga with Filoi Vaila'au

One of most treasured heritage art forms in the Pacific is our dance - and expression of our social roles, status, our joy for life and our soul. In Samoa and Tonga one of the most revered dances is the Taualuga - the dance of life.

2:44 yes nice lovely dancing but one thing to make clear is when u wear the Tuiga u cannot and never go on ur knees on the floor tht is someting tht people r changing there is like a huge argument over the American Samoans and the Western Samoans about this when u were young and was teached in a village abt this u can never go down yes u can bend ur knees down and come back up but u going onto the floor and doing the taualuga is not good i was teached (Strictly) to never ever go down bcse wht ur wearing on ur heead the Tuiga is something tht is sacred to ur family and must stay up to keep ur familys image and the inheritance and the Mana or pride of ur family unless ofcrse u wear the one thts not a tuiga then u can go down on ur knees. This is something tht the elders r trying to teach and remind this generation mostly the American Samoan and Samoans who r outside who dont know abt it but yea nice dancing.
