That story where they decided to measure the track because they couldn't believe his time at 17:16 ....that is SUCH a classic story!! And the way he tells it, with that big smile on his face, the amount of doubt he had to go through...we need to take a moment to appreciate it.
Cant wait for this one🔥...Omanyala has inspired alot of young sprinters here in Kenya🇰🇪🇰🇪 and hope he medals in the Olympic, it will be historic. Go OMANYALA!!!
You’re insightful and you guys actually let your guest speak uninterrupted, you listen and are thoughtful. Lovely podcast, I’ll be tuning in regularly from now on.
The track spirit starts from kindergarten in Jamaica 🇯🇲. If you didn’t run but you cheer for a team or House.. everyone becomes a part of this runnings..
Justin is such a class act... I am grateful for such podcasts that allow fans to interact and see the stars in their laid back element. Ferdinand is loved back home, love from Kenya.
I'm Kenyan and I can tell you for a fact that the man has been through so much, he has a beautiful story and is such a humble yet competitive human being. Big ups to you bro..
Gents Ghaffar Ellis here. As a Jamaica, and a supporter of the show, thisa one like all the others is just perfect I appreciate the quality of the discussion.
Bring that boxing energy to track, absolutely!! Great Interview, lovee this! I could listen to Omanyala talk all day. This platform is very much needed so we can hear from the sprinters in our sport who are doing well, able to make and difference and Insipre the next generation. You guys should really get Erriyon Knighton on here to share his story.
This was actually a good interview!! 😂 the gents were stabbing Justin way too many times man. All respect to the OG though, he’s definitely one of the goats. All the best to Omanyala! 🔥
I am a 🇰🇪 Kenyan 🇰🇪 that LOOOOOOOOOOVES this man!!!! Whether he brings home the gold/silver/bronze, or not, I support him 💯% The Kenyan Keyboard Warriors “KKWs” need to just chill, man. I wish I could go to Oregon and see him do his thing.
WA should 100% bring back the Continental Cup/Games, would be a great Meet to have regularly! Africa has always had talented sprinters; Frankie Fredericks, Francis Obikwelu, Olusoji Fasuba, Glory Alozie, Mary Onyali, Falilat Ogunkoya, Amy Mbacke Thiam etc., but unfortunately not always had adequate support structures in place that allowed them to fully realise their potential hence a number of them over the years having to switch nationalities e.g. Obwikewelu (Portugal) & Alozie (Spain). While still not where it should be, it seems to be getting better than it was which should hopefully not hinder the careers of the new generation; Tebogo, Udodi, Favour Ofili, Rosemary Chukwuma, Joe Fahnbulleh, Godson Brume, Tarsis Orogot, Favour Ashe, Shaun Maswanganyi, Benjamin Richardson, Tima Godbless, James Dadzie, Samuel Ogazi, Ezekiel Nathaniel, Tapiwanashe Makawaru & more!
Amazing podcast. I have enjoyed this more than many movies. This is real, comic, fun and educative. As a Kenyan, I have been both proud and critical of Omanyala but now I know better.
Omanyala changed the narrative of sprinters in Kenya and E. Africa…. I felt for Omanyala during that race…he just looked tired…I blamed whoever booked his flight and still do…
Minute 17... Omanyala mentioning how people didn't believe in his desire to be a SPRINTER; 1) is hella bold & 2) IS INSPIRING...!!! So lesson to KENYANS: DON'T KNOCK SOMEONE ELSE'S HUSTLE....show your support or keep your sideways comments to thyself...THANK YOU for attending my TED TALK 😂✌🏽
17:23 When Omanyala said after he dropped a fast time in kenya the race coordinator stopped them to measure the length of the track because they didnt belive how fast he had run 😂😂😂😂😂😂....they had to double check if the length was right...
37:50 this is actually what I did this season because I started kind of Late..!! It does work nicely, Like Gatlin said, More than one way to skin a cat.. 👌
Loss of arm control cost Justin the 2015 victory... I saw him did bench press in the gym thereafter with closed elbows (elbows strapped to prevent them from opening under pressure). Omanyala needs to "re-evaluate" his use of arms during race. Ofcourse I'm a huge fan of both...
I love your show. I can’t wait to see you interview everyone including: Michael Johnson Usain Bolt Asafa Powell Yohan Blake Carl Lewis Ben Johnson Lynford Christie ESPN or someone need to pick up your show
Also... there are 54 countries and over 1,000 languages in Africa. There are many different "African accents". Still a funny joke and good interview though.
You guys are on a different level when it comes to track and field. The questions and the conversation is far beyond anything I've seen in track
Agreed.
This podcast is a breath of fresh air for real athletics fans. Thanks my guys
ABUNDANTLY AGREED!!
Nah hold on this was by far the best episodes...of RSG...
Rodney,Justin and Ferdinand are the funniest trio so far..😂😂❤

I had no idea Justin is such a funny guy, what a great sense of humour. We should've seen more of that when he was a pro athlete.
The guys had very good rapport and it showed. This is one of the most insightful podcasts I have watched. Good luck to Omanyala.

If only my star Asafa got the help to manage the mental aspect and the injuries.. Love him still though!!! Jamaica 🇯🇲
Asafa's mental state robbed him of many gold medals between 2003 and 2007.
Everyone keep subscribing, let's get his podcast to 100,000. First stop 10,000. Let's support good track and field convo!
This was excellent. Bravo!
How can we find out if he every met the super Kenyan fan at the World Relays (42:52)? It would have been epic for sure! We need videos of that!

Awesome 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 champ Omanyala
Damn this is a good episode.
Big up Ferdie Omanyala 🇰🇪 .
34:30 short to long training is pretty common, wouldn’t call that unorthodox. People been doing that since the 80’s!
Loved this episode ❤🔥
Great podcast/interview
21:37 “I know de way” -Ferdinand Omanyala 2024
Great podcast!!

Thank you for finally saying my country name 😄 NIGERIA
"You can't build speed endurance without speed. If you're building speed endurance and you don't have speed, what are you building?"
Lodge School Massive!
I wish Gatlin had a session with Eliud Kipchoge
Speed is hard to get into the body, endurance is easy to get into the body
Ferdinand 😎😎😎
Come on Rodney you know omanyala is on that Charlie Francis type of training.
I love your show.
I can’t wait to see you interview everyone including:
Michael Johnson
Usain Bolt
Asafa Powell
Yohan Blake
Carl Lewis
Ben Johnson
Lynford Christie
ESPN or someone need to pick up your show
9-to-5, as in the 9th fastest of all time conversing with the 5th fastest.
Your guest has a beautiful and welcoming smile. He's also looking refined, quite the opposite of how he looks on the track.
what? He's always smiling on the track too lol
Calm down even the one you know looks different on the track
@duchesslakenya2612 it just hit home I guess!
And it's nothing but a compliment!
Well in Omanyala Kenya Represent
Why didn’t Omanyala participate in this past African games?
God bless you
