Do you remember me Flying Scotsman? Do you remember being on Shirebrook Railway Station in the 1960's? There you were, all alone, on the station without a crew. Just me, a young boy, and you. I looked on your footplate from the platform, I reached up and touched your name plate. Do you remember Flying Scotsman? I remember you. I have not forgotten.
I rode this wonderful train on many occasions as a child while my father was at sea.Mum,my two brothers and I caught her at Plymouth Station and got off in Birmingham. Then went to visit my Grandparents in the holidays..Then back again. It was so exciting and she was like an old friend…Being pulled by these engines was a magical experience on all your experiences.Sight ,sound ,smell and most of all pure magic. You always felt like you were special and honoured to ride with her.She looks as beautiful on here as she did up close when I used to see her.Because the journey was of course started and finished with a trip to see her.Very happy memories of times and loved ones no longer with me.So glad she has been restored 🥰
I rode on this train when it toured the United states in the 70's and stopped in Chicago. I was six or seven yeas old. it is great to see it back in action after the rebuild. I have several pictures of me sitting in the cab and on the front. Some day, I will ride this train again.
Pacific Power !!! Pah !!! No good if you don't have traction . From a GWR fan , lovely to see the teak set behind the Scotsman . Excellent filming , thank for sharing .
Lol definitely not the best. Most famous yes, best defently not the best one. That honor probably currently goes to Clan line as far as mainline steam is concerned.
Great footage..... thank you, so much for uploading. I went to Trimpley Reservoir pedestrian crossing on Thurs. 22nd and took a video, right on the track. Then again to Kiddy station today for some stills. She really is magnificent. God bless and many thanks to all those that spent hours restoring her.... you did a brilliant job!
I have to say that the Gresley set, to me, is the jewel in the crown of the SVR, even more than the locos... And the GNR composite is my favourite item of rolling stock in the country (save the NER Dynamometer Car at York!).
I saw her at Kidderminster yesterday. A magnificent sight! Pity they didn't pair her with the maroon MK1 set. That way, they could have re-created a typical ECML express circa 1962. Still, great to see her back in action. You can't beat Flying Scotsman!
Thanks mate and also the weather to be suitable but looking at it at the moment rain for some part of the day on Monday but lets hope for the best. Richard
You mean the king of steam in all his glory. He is indeed a handsome locomotive and remember, it may not be officially so, and I say that it should, the name Scotsman honours his founder, Sir Nigel Gresley, who was indeed a Scottish man.
Except it doesn't. The name "flying scotsman" was the name of the service between London and Edinburgh and after the first A1 was completed "great northern" it was renamed flying scotsman as a publicity stunt and the name stuck.
@@vphil09 god, shut up, they were designed way before br took over and were always terrible. All they were kind of good for was shunting at South ampton docks and even then not as good as the S100 (USA tank engines)
She was paired with an auxiliary water tender for her initial preservation under Alan Pegler. She lost it after it returned to Liverpool from the US as it was sold to Jeremy Hosking for use with his A4 'Bittern'.
@@SSudric No...it was added when pegler decided to recreate the non-stop run from London to Edinburgh as BR had gotten rid of most of the water troughs so there was no way for her to fill up on the run. And also turned out to be useful when she went to the US as the water stops / stations were further apart than in the UK.

Well done to the SVR for matching a whole set of LNER Teak coaches to Scotsman, and great coverage from the both of you Liam....Bob
Cheers Bob. Scotsman on the Teaks was my main reason for going. The rest of the event is a definite no no for me !

A really lot
Totally awesome! Would love to travel with her someday!
Spectacular steam shots, the Scotsman is beautiful and this footage is really well done!

It's good to go back in time and see these amazing creations.

Thanks very much. Not a massive fan of big Pacific's on branchlines, but you can't knock how well the Scotsman on the Teaks looked !
One day if I go to England I want to ride this beauty
Flying Scotsman with the teek coach’s feels so right fells like we went back in time to 1936
Royal Scotsman rules the rails! Long live Flying Scotsman!
As an American, with an interest in Brit railways, I am happy to see her at steam.
She moves very gracefully along the rails
One word.... WOW - Regards, Michael
Flying Scotsman is by far the best Steam Locomotive, it's my favourite
Lol definitely not the best. Most famous yes, best defently not the best one. That honor probably currently goes to Clan line as far as mainline steam is concerned.
Oh my god Scotsman and those Gresley teaks looks incredible
Great video mate keep it up

Thank you. I am currently working on an n scale (1/160 scale) version of this beautiful train. Using all teak coaches. Thanks fir the guidance.

Very good Liam as always...Dave

Capturing her along the whole route is more my style. But what's not to love about Scottie?
Great video!
wow love the vid marsh steam videos tm never paid attention but just because it is the flying scotsman I will like it
Great video, hoping to go up the valley tomorrow, kind regards
Thanks Ramon, hope you had a good trip.
An excellent video of 60103. Looking like post war Britain with the Teaks!
All the best. Cameron
It certainly did Cameron, the teak set is a real gem ! Thanks for the comment.

It was very enjoyable.

Would it not be nice if once the engine and coaches were allowed to travel up the ECML from London Kings Cross to Edinburgh? Very well shot video.
Would be a great sight, but I would imagine the coaches would need some extensive work to be allowed out on the mainline. Thanks for the comment.
I remember it well great day out tornado and flying scotsman at svr 2016 rode behind both wonderful
just love those Gresley (?) carriages.
Correct, they're just as valuable as the loco.
Very Nice mate. I'll have my chance on the last day of the event. Richard
Cheers Richard, hopefully the crowds will have died down for you !
Thanks mate and also the weather to be suitable but looking at it at the moment rain for some part of the day on Monday but lets hope for the best. Richard
see you there proberly
Omg I love flying Scottman I am building a small version soon
The UK needs to preserve it's locomotives.
Coal and Water will never run out..
Not so, North Sea Oil...
I threw a rock at Scotsman passing lol

60103 and dark green?
Yes. That is its BR assigned number and colour because BR doesn't like to have fun
My favorite Carnival cruise director is named after this train.
How come it no longer wears its original number?
British Railways
The locomotive lost her original fleetnumber (1472) shortly after construction.
Cos she's in BR livery...and BR renumbered all their locos under a new numbering scheme.
A Gresley with teaks, You can't really go wrong with that! :-)
Indeed ! It made for a fine sight.
On the first one it sounded like a subway when it only showed coaches
im not british but wow! thats astonishing
She's a national treasure over here ! Although an expensive one !
SHES THE WORLDS MOST FAMOUS STEAM LOCO AFTER A FEW YEARS IN THE SHOPS SHE FINALLY RUNNING!
a beautiful train
You guys know that E2's were scraped which look and is Thomas's design
R.I.P
They were scrapped because they were awful locomotives
GNR L1 how?
@@gnrl1628 they werent awful. Its because BR sucks
@@vphil09 god, shut up, they were designed way before br took over and were always terrible. All they were kind of good for was shunting at South ampton docks and even then not as good as the S100 (USA tank engines)
Their wheelbases were too long and their water capacity was absolutely awful. Soon as those Yank Tanks came in, things improved.
Beautifull train
I seen it at the national railway museum at York
very nice
Iconic locomotive it’s a shame it not in London northern eastern livery not British railways livery.
Lovely location.😎
she was indeed on her BR green livery
my fav train
great quality! What lens are you using? the zoom is great and so smooth!
The camcorder is a Panasonic vxf990 with a leica dicomar lens.
I'm a hobby stills photographer but nevertheless noticed how you use that lens to great effect! Thank you for the information!
You're welcome.
When you suffer from seasickness, so you can't sail aboard the Flying Dutchman.
is the flying scotsman still there to this day?
I think it's at the National Railway Museum in York.
Ty
But I do wish that they would repaint her Apple green and give her back her original smokebox panel
I kinda like BR green but I agree
is the train wood? and is it compatible with the modern train uses in London?
Yes and absolutely not ! All steam train carriages are made out of wood. These one's only operate at low speeds.
ok thanks
I cant wait to see it in single chimmley form with 4472 on the cabsides and lner on the tender
Do you have a Time Travel machine?
eh that would make her less efficient to todays alan pegler modifs
Does it still run today like Scotland to London??
You're thinking of the passenger service 'The Flying Scotsman' this is 'Flying Scotsman' the engine ! Yes, it still does, everyday.
oh nice
For the think tank
The best locomotive
Definitely not lol
It's producing loads of noise but it doesn't seem to be going that fast.
This is because it's on private railway and the speed limit is 25mph.
Lots of grades so it's working hard. Also the fact that it has a third cylinder means it chuffs a lot more than other locos
where is the second tender?
Not sure, but it is sadly missed ! Wouldn't be much need for one on this railway though.
Ture so he only had it on the old railway he was on since he was far distance form some of the stations
