Reconstruction of the West Pier in Brighton. Created in 3ds Max 2010, took about 5 months to complete. Used the daylight system for the lighting and mental ray for the renderer.
I spent many hours/days/years on this remarkable pier, it had a wooden cart/car track, an absolutely fabulous ballroom which had wonderful chandeliers and I spent many hours of my young life fishing from the end of the pier which had a fishing club , the pier also had many covered amusements. This so called "walk through" is nothing like the real thing. So far from the reality of what was once a special and remarkable structure.
So amazing that you went on it. What do you think of Brighton pier? I bet it doesn't even compare? I was on it yesterday, and looked out to see the remains of the West pier. I always knew it was there, but I never knew what it looked like before the fire. So today I've been having a look on TH-cam. I must say it looks incredible compared to what Brighton pier is like!
@@charlalar14 The West pier was like a Rolls - Royce compared to an old bicycle. Palace pier as it was called then instead of Brighton pier as it is now was always the lesser of the two. It was a wonderful experience to enter the ballroom of the West pier and so terrible to see its demise in such a tragic way. The Palace/Brighton pier now is so changed from when I was a boy, but then childhood memories can be a little distorted.
@@TheRealGrandadNo1 What was Brighton pier like before then? I must admit, it doesn't have any magic when you walk along it. It's just the arcade, multiple little food huts and the funfair at the end, nothing special. Then when I looked at the west pier it just looked so beautiful. Such a shame it was burnt.
Thanks. I was too young to ever see this in real life. I feel like I was really there.
That's amazing! Be good to see it in higher resolution.
Very good. I went on their many times. You wouldn't hear the waves breaking the further you went along.
Wow that's well made
Too young to ever see it , it burnt down 3 years before I was born. Wish it was still there as I go to Brighton every summer and it seems so nice!
Wow. A great reconstruction.
