To get an idea of what you have done, multiply the monthly rent you have paid in the past, and you’ll probably find that if you had purchased a house then, you would be mortgage debt free by now. Black Rock is buying ENTIRE neighborhood & towns. Little wooden homes in town 980sq ft were $42k now $350k!!!!

The house is looking great so far and can only imagine it will grow even better as you make it yours. I had to laugh about the end of the video, after I moved into my house I think everyone I knew decided to "gift" me with household junk I didn't want or need so ended up with old TV's, extra plates, glasses/cups, cookware and bedding. I know how it goes!

I enjoyed your house tour. Two decorating suggestions for you (no biggies; just suggestions): #1 In the dining room, move the one shelving until from the corner to between the two windows. That will provide better use of the space, and the light coming through the windows will better highlight whatever you display on the shelves. #2 - the framed pics which you have in the living room are way too high. (I think you tried to make them even with the tops of the windows.) Art should be hung at eye level. Just look online - you will find info on how many inches from the ceiling framed art should be hung. You've done a great job with decorating the place so far, especially since you haven't been in the place that long. Enjoy!

Congratulations Adam! I need to tell you this one little fact that all homeowners know. Appliances and home systems don't go out alone---they break in pairs AND at the worst time possible! In my case, usually on a holiday weekend when it's more expensive to get a plumber or a heating/A/C specialist! Just accept it as a fact of home ownership. Oh and now TH-cam is your friend in helping teach you how to do the "little" repairs. Welcome to the wonderful world of home ownership--it's great (minus the repairs). 🙂
My daughter lost her frig, washer and dryer of 16 years at Thanksgiving and Christmas.. However, she got 16 years out of them, by todays standards is good, not like back in my day where some are still running...
@@beverlybennett963 That is so TRUE. We hunted an older dryer and bought it instead of replacing it with a new one when ours went out in 2016. It's still going strong. If you can find people "upgrading" and buy used older appliances, they seem better in the long run!
Funny that you mentioned that. My garage door opener stopped working on Christmas Eve. I had someone out here on Tuesday and they installed a new opener. Talk about an unexpected expense. lol. Happy New Year!!

Well done. It's a great life landmark. No idea your finances, but a tip that worked for me : have as short a mortgage term as possible. Then any additional income, dump it against your mortgage. I lived on the same disposable income for a long time, and managed to pay off my mortgage in 10 years ( but still drove a car, and had 2 foreign holidays a year ). Congrats Adam! Hope you enjoy it! But beware, there will be the downsides of being a homeowner. I learned this lesson the hard way by myself when I bought my house almost 9 years ago. Home repairs can be a nightmare, but you do feel accomplished if you can fix it yourself. However, it looks like your home is fairly new, or at least recently refurbished, so you will probably be good for a while. Cheers!

Now that you are a homeowner, maintaining the house should be high on your list of "to dos". There are things you can do that will greatly reduce the cost of ownership. Water heaters can cost close to $1000 for a plumber to replace and you can greatly increase its lifespan by just hooking a garden hose to the bottom of it and letting it flush for 5 minutes once a year. There is also an anode rod to minimize tank rusting that goes into the top that should be inspected and replaced when it corrodes away. There will be a little plastic plug on top with "anode" stamped on the tank top. How often it needs replacing depends on the water where you live, sometimes 5 years, sometimes 15. When moving in, its a good idea to pull it out and look at it. Chances are it will need replacing. Home Depot or Lowes sells them for around $30. Just go buy one so you have it when you check yours. They sell a universal length one so you need to hacksaw it to match what you had (too long will hit and damage the tank bottom). Once replaced, check again in about 2 years to get an idea how often you will need to replace it. 50+ years ago an old school plumber told me "I never replaced a leaking water heater that ha a good anode rod in it". I followed his advice and have never had a water heater rust out. Plenty of TH-cam vids on how to replace one.

My brother and sister-in-law have a $2 million home in Los Angeles and when our mother was visiting they didn’t think it was safe for her to walk around the corner to go to the store. Also, you will have the new Universal theme park opening in the near future which will be a game changer.
A 2 million dollar home in California is worth $200,000-300,000 almost anywhere else. It's astounding how small and expensive those houses are in Cali.

I enjoyed your house tour. Two decorating suggestions for you (no biggies; just suggestions): #1 In the dining room, move the one shelving until from the corner to between the two windows. That will provide better use of the space, and the light coming through the windows will better highlight whatever you display on the shelves. #2 - the framed pics which you have in the living room are way too high. (I think you tried to make them even with the tops of the windows.) Art should be hung at eye level. Just look online - you will find info on how many inches from the ceiling framed art should be hung. You've done a great job with decorating the place so far, especially since you haven't been in the place that long. Enjoy!

Congratulations Adam! I need to tell you this one little fact that all homeowners know. Appliances and home systems don't go out alone---they break in pairs AND at the worst time possible! In my case, usually on a holiday weekend when it's more expensive to get a plumber or a heating/A/C specialist! Just accept it as a fact of home ownership. Oh and now TH-cam is your friend in helping teach you how to do the "little" repairs. Welcome to the wonderful world of home ownership--it's great (minus the repairs). 🙂
My daughter lost her frig, washer and dryer of 16 years at Thanksgiving and Christmas.. However, she got 16 years out of them, by todays standards is good, not like back in my day where some are still running...
@@beverlybennett963 That is so TRUE. We hunted an older dryer and bought it instead of replacing it with a new one when ours went out in 2016. It's still going strong. If you can find people "upgrading" and buy used older appliances, they seem better in the long run!
Funny that you mentioned that. My garage door opener stopped working on Christmas Eve. I had someone out here on Tuesday and they installed a new opener. Talk about an unexpected expense. lol. Happy New Year!!

Well done. It's a great life landmark. No idea your finances, but a tip that worked for me : have as short a mortgage term as possible. Then any additional income, dump it against your mortgage. I lived on the same disposable income for a long time, and managed to pay off my mortgage in 10 years ( but still drove a car, and had 2 foreign holidays a year ). Congrats Adam! Hope you enjoy it! But beware, there will be the downsides of being a homeowner. I learned this lesson the hard way by myself when I bought my house almost 9 years ago. Home repairs can be a nightmare, but you do feel accomplished if you can fix it yourself. However, it looks like your home is fairly new, or at least recently refurbished, so you will probably be good for a while. Cheers!

Now that you are a homeowner, maintaining the house should be high on your list of "to dos". There are things you can do that will greatly reduce the cost of ownership. Water heaters can cost close to $1000 for a plumber to replace and you can greatly increase its lifespan by just hooking a garden hose to the bottom of it and letting it flush for 5 minutes once a year. There is also an anode rod to minimize tank rusting that goes into the top that should be inspected and replaced when it corrodes away. There will be a little plastic plug on top with "anode" stamped on the tank top. How often it needs replacing depends on the water where you live, sometimes 5 years, sometimes 15. When moving in, its a good idea to pull it out and look at it. Chances are it will need replacing. Home Depot or Lowes sells them for around $30. Just go buy one so you have it when you check yours. They sell a universal length one so you need to hacksaw it to match what you had (too long will hit and damage the tank bottom). Once replaced, check again in about 2 years to get an idea how often you will need to replace it. 50+ years ago an old school plumber told me "I never replaced a leaking water heater that ha a good anode rod in it". I followed his advice and have never had a water heater rust out. Plenty of TH-cam vids on how to replace one.

My brother and sister-in-law have a $2 million home in Los Angeles and when our mother was visiting they didn’t think it was safe for her to walk around the corner to go to the store. Also, you will have the new Universal theme park opening in the near future which will be a game changer.
Sorry to tell you, but Adam is banned for life at any Universal Studios property in Florida. He enjoys going to the one in California.
A 2 million dollar home in California is worth $200,000-300,000 almost anywhere else. It's astounding how small and expensive those houses are in Cali.
