I usually watch this anno series in bed. I find the way you talk and organize relaxing. I'll fall asleep and continue where I left off the next night. Keep it up please.
Just bought the game because of this let's play, been looking for a city/management sim for a while, so thanks for shining some light on this game. It's awesome.
It's so satisfying watching someone with similar amount of OCD decorating the towns and then going to first person mode. Really enjoying this play through!
For fur companies, Hudson's Bay Company or HBC. They were started as a British trading company and focused upon the fur trade out of Canada back when Canada was a colony. The company has since been made private and is a Canadian company today.
i think the timelaps are good i love to watch the city grow. and with timelaps you can achieve more in a video but how you do it now is great keep it up by the way I love long episodes
Scylla (SILL-uh) & Charybdis (KUH-rib-dis) are from the Homeric poem The Odyssey. Located at the Straits of Messina, it's the proverbial "Rock & a Hard Place" or "Lesser of Two Evils". Also mentioned in "Wrapped Around Your Finger" by The Police from their 1983 album Synchronicity.
Hancock is what you need to get 400% farms !(considering you have the bright harvest DLC) Alexander Hancock 80% + Superphosphate Fertilizer 70% and then the last 50% from the Expert Planter for the grain/pepper/grape farms or the Happy Homesteader for hops and potatoes, the last 100% coming from the tractor barn. Admittedly this does enlarge your fields by 120% but its still worth it in my opinion to get that 400% per farm. I currently have 1 medium sized island covered almost completely in grain and hops supplying my entire population with beer and all the extra goes straight to Anne Harlow who pays a ridiculous amount for beer specifically
You need to be very careful of Hunt, I remember seeing a TH-camr do a lets play on this game as well and all he did was say 1 lie in 1 newspaper and a war started that lasted the entire 30 episode long lets play and he had to switch to a war economy.
Men i love that series, somehow when raptor play it it feel like im watching a 1800 war movie plus the fact that he quickly switch his entire economy to war economy, the blockade and all of the sumuggling actions all over the place
hunt will always go to war with you when her military score it notablely larger than yours, half the time she doesn't need a trigger, and she won't surrender either, the war ends with either you left with one island, or when she is. she's an asshole
Another great video Darren. But did anybody see that Madame Kahina's Harbour 1:18:35. She found your coin you threw overboard, Now selling at $27,100 😀
In the TNT Quest. The requester said " I thought I was going to inherit the flower shop then I discovered TNT. " Which is a quote from the movie the lost city of Atlantis.
Man i m atm in such a Anno addiction! But my freinds can rarely play with me. Watching this for hours on end through the night kinda helps to kill the pain. And i learn things here and there too! This is great! I also like your voice.
This is about where I'm at in my first playthrough on the campaign. I now realize I was getting too worked up about the new world and need to just chillax and go at a more leisurely pace. Especially because I don't have any 2 star AI in my game. Probably check in when I go to other regions. Thank you.
So I've begun adopting your playstyle into my own; the most fun I've had with any of the Anno games... EVER. Love the series, can't wait to start season 2.
The big island in the cape is kinda boring in my opinion, I normally just turn it into a massive farm instead of a city, as I think for cities it's too easy
Love this game, sadly every time I make it as far as Engineers and my city turns into Hell. I either can't find the items needed or my cash dives and the newspaper starts it's fake news and the peeps riot. You make the juggling of resources look easy! :) Thank you for the vids!
I guess if you take extra time to make each chain and keep things stable, its fairly easy to keep building ontop of it. I’ve found if you rush through things, you can get over burdened really fast
I would like to add that Darren plays on normal speed. Things can go wrongly very fast if you speed up too much. To play on faster speeds you have to know the entire progression of game by heart and it would still be APM hell to keep up with it.
@ 3:15 The song Wrapped Around Your Finger by the POLICE (back in the 80's) mentions this - Pronounced "Silla and Car-ib-dus" the line is: "You consider me the young apprentice, caught between the Scylla & Charybdis"
Really enjoyed watching this series. Has show me a lot about the game and I have never been interested in it before but will be looking to buy it now 😁
Good episode! Thanks. You should probably head to all the other expeditions before your out of island to settle. at least just to put a harbour on them.
Me and my partner love watching this series. You're really engaging, we love the time lapses and seeing you develop the city in your way. Keep it up mate this great stuff!
I think I would prefer a 45 minute episode every day instead of a one (-and a half) hour buster every other day. I mean you could still take it in one session, maybe just cut it in half so we have some anno every day. Just a thought tho, love the series and your build style
I loved this episode. Really enjoying this Let's Play. I think you should focus on the other expedition to the Cup in the next episode so that you can be the first one there. I think that would be really nice. Can't wait to see the next episode :)
Thank you Darren, for this series. I've just upgraded my PC to be able to play this game again. It seems so easy to play watching you, but actually, I'm struggling. :))
Hey Man, I really love this let's play Anno. Keep these up! so relaxing and chill. You have to keep track of your items though. My tip: set a reminder on your phone or something when you let your ships sail back to your port. Greetz
I really want to try some things you do on my own play style.. I really like your building ideas like the artisan hill ^^ the timelaps is also a great idea. I am looking forward for the new episodes! Maybe I will try a let's play series on my own :D best greetings from Germany :)
I just completed a binge of watching all 5 of your episodes. I am impressed and look forward to future streams. I do have a suggestion/question - your current city of Swords does not have enough room to get all the way to investors. I found this out myself when I was playing. So I made the decision to have the "Old" World become a support for my new Capital where I had more space. What are your plans? When you get to Electricity and railroads this island will not be able to support it. I am very curious about your thoughts. I have not played for 1 yr and I am eagerly looking for ward to learning from you about new changes.
you can trade fur coats with Madame K. That makes a lot of money. Unfortunately you need a lot of cotton fabric, but it is worth it, because you will have enough fur coats for later, too.
the npc take the best islands very quickly I guess it was a good thing I had a fight with one of the npc's and got the majority of the islands that way
Great series & that you explain the game so well is a bonus you don't seem to get on some channels as they do guides instead, much prefer YTbers to explain as they play for a more organic experience imho.
1:24:15 I'm also interrested by passive trad. You can buy iron from neutral seller but that its matter on which island you ask. Maybe you can basic colonize other island for benefit of this opportunity.
I really enjoy your Let's play I believe for Enbesa and Arctic - AI arrives there only after you finish the quests. At least that's how it worked for me xD
I'm pretty sure you will always be first to settle in Cape Trelawney. I thought I read somewhere that the AI waits for you to do the expedition. I assume it is the same way for the Artic and Enbessa.
6 month old comment by now Ik, but there’s actually triggers that set the AI off to the other regions. The only region they wait for you is the Artic, but it’s once you finish the hanger does the AI go there. All other regions gets triggered based off of the AI’s progression.
Just gotten this game! U really brought out the fun of this game. However, hopefully u can do a tutorial lesson/shortcut key/stats analysis/optimization combo in future on a separate playlist by itself.
Love the series ;) Also, i would love to see some items that you bought (or didnt, like cotton productivity item which would be perfect for cotton plantation) in use as they make some imbalance to your economy
that annoying moment when you build along on the same map seed because you want the exact same islands, but then you reach the new world and realize that map is wrong somehow... >.< I didn't get the same new world islands
2023 and loving this series, man 😄
Thank you!
I usually watch this anno series in bed. I find the way you talk and organize relaxing. I'll fall asleep and continue where I left off the next night. Keep it up please.

@@chook1311creep? Lol
As a native of a tropical country...I have to say. This is probably one of the few games that depicts jungles correctly.

2 years late but i died when you walked straight past a crate at the end lmao
its never too late to remind me of this
Can I have timestamp of this?
Just bought the game because of this let's play, been looking for a city/management sim for a while, so thanks for shining some light on this game. It's awesome.
its the best
I've been playing along but got to engineers before him. Need episode 5!
Yep City builder w/ a lil combat what could be better? (DAMN!!! I got it for $20 but Epic doesn't have it on sale any more. DOH!!!)
Just bought the game too
Just did the same
1:22:08 Literally in the middle of the road walking past the box hahah
The urge to buy this game and play it alongside the episodes is surmounting.
hey man wanne send some love
I realy like the way how you play and build also your voice is realy chill
Thanks!
Call the ship moving furs "The Hudson" after the Hudson Bay company
You beat me to this suggestion, well done!
As someone that just started the series, I'm glad someone made the suggestion.
@@ZeoKappa you have a great series ahead of you
I wanted to play Anno but couldnt find the time so this series will satisfy my need to play :D
1:01:31 how he scrolls past at least three items for hunting :D like coal, flour, clay...
YESSS! Finally man. Got my food ready and you Upload my favorite series, what a perfect way to end the Day!
Haha! I am having my tea now and watching this episode!

I haven't played this game in ages as my computer broke. Really enjoying these videos and seeing how I played it wrong so many years ago haha!
Thanks for the beautifully irregular city! Its refreshing without the usual Anno grids and blocks.
I remember seeing you such a long time ago, the nostalgia is unbelievable.
I’ve been on TH-cam since about 2013 - coming up on 10yrs technically!

Came to this series after binging the recent ANNO series. Although this feels more chill than the recent one, loving both of them
Hey, I just picked this game up and your videos are super helpful! The bit on where to find items blew my newb mind!
Glad I could help!
Another great video Darren. But did anybody see that Madame Kahina's Harbour 1:18:35. She found your coin you threw overboard, Now selling at $27,100 😀
Going to copy your ideas of the cliff side artisan area and farming villages
Best to use ship of the line for expeditions...more space for characters and also space fir cargo you find during expedition
In the TNT Quest. The requester said " I thought I was going to inherit the flower shop then I discovered TNT. " Which is a quote from the movie the lost city of Atlantis.

I can see why this game is so great, I remember playing some of the first Anno games, they have come a long way. I need to get this one now.
