@@ElderandOakFarm When do you plan to start your ranunculus that you're planting in the spring?

Cute little helper. 🤗 That's so cool you have a bloom in December. I like that you're trying that experiment, I love nerding out and testing things in the garden. I hope it goes well. 🙏

Then it may be best for you to plant them laye winter/ early spring. They're only hardy to zine 8 & sometimes 7, unless you have a hoophouse or some way of protecting them...

Ty! I'm zone 6a. Was 6b, now 6a?!? Last year was my first year successfully growing them. I'd always started them far too late. (They stop blooming when you have temps consistently over 70 degrees) I am still experimenting with the best time to grow mine, but I think last year, I was just about 4 weeks too late. I'm actually working on editing a complete growing guide on ranunculus right now, that will go over in detail when I'm starting them, how I'm growing them, my fertilizer routine, etc. If you wanna keep an eye out for that video, but I will just tell you- I am doing 3 plantings. The planting in this video is my overwintering experiment. (I've never tried to plant them in the fall & Im still not sure if its going to be a success or not) & then 2 spring plantings. Last year, they all started blooming beautifully, but then that same week, we were getting temps in the 70s, so they were taken out within a week & I didn't get many blooms. So this year, I was going to plant them all about 3-4 weeks earlier. But I wanted to see if I could get away with, or maybe if they would even PREFER, to be planted even earlier than that... so I'm splitting my spring planting in half, & I'm planting 1/2 4 weeks earlier than I planted them last year, & the other half 8 weeks earlier than I planted last year.
