You'ed think that he failed to make the transfer, but I believe he did infact transfer into zero, but that the very algorithms and repair functions he designed to make him invincible, actually began correcting the damaged parts of wilys mind while in stasis and when zero awoke and attacked Sigma, that faulty data was literally purged from zero completely, leaving behind a stable, balanced mind. In essence Zero IS Wily... but the just honorable man Light new at the very start before mental illness corrupted him. The maverick virus is infact the corrupted metadata that transferred from Zero to Sigma... and from there on it literally turned ever machine it touched mentally ill with psychosis.
The fact that you used the background where you meet False Zero/fight Zero in X2 would set the *perfect* scene for this music. Zero fights against Wily's AI Self, the AI Being that was rumored to be housed in Serges and Isoc. The "Old Man" that gave Sigma his battle body. Wily's madness must end here.

I prefer to think that captain Wily, owner of Wily's docks in mm legends, is an ancestor dr Albert Wily, far in the future. An old timer not afraid of telling you the grim reality, but also not senselessly strict when another mechanic gets carried away fixing his boat.

i’d assume wily is a hard light hologram that comes out of a fake version of a dr light upgrade capsule in an attempt to “fix” zero’s programming, and said hologram would either use various versions of the wily machine, or possibly just be able to use all the robot master weapons, in a twist on the doc robots from mega man 3.

I know it's just a difference in sprite-style, but the idea of Zero being TWICE THE HEIGHT than Wily is a funny image.
