Brag on myself a bit. 3 years ago I had a stroke at 37yrs old. At 38 diagnosed with Parkinson's. All from to many traumatic brain injuries. Not willing to give up my "group therapy" I bought this gun because the weight actually helps me not shake. Put hundreds and hundreds of rounds through it. Hated the trigger though. With having a had stroke and having Parkinson's I was able to install this and the recoil spring and bolt myself. Didn't pay a soul. Can't say gun cycles better because I have never had it jamb but it does help with whatever recoil it had and the trigger is a ton better. If I can install it you can to.

Hi point, pistol or carbine, the brick that throws things at you. I have two, thinking about getting at least one more. I know shooters who have a few, they would never sell them.

You have the charging handle knob on backwards. Turn it around so that you can retain use of the manual hold-open function.

Just my two cents worth. The spring... Didn't notice a HUGE difference.. but some. Went back and polished a few contact points in the mechanism and that helped. I have a 4.7 trigger now and that's great. Glad I watched the video because it made things easy for me. I have trimmed up the standard stock, shortened the butt about an inch and a half, stippled the front side of the hand grip, cleaned up the bottom of the fore stock so there isn't a bunch of sharp edges. added a 30 mm red dot scope sight, and I love this HI POINT. Short, fast and easy to handle. Thanks for the video!

Brian , IYHO , if you had it to do over and could only get 1 or the other , which one would you get? I ask this because im considering both of these firearms as a Christmas gift for a special someone . reliability and safety are paramount , ergonomics and cosmetics not so much . Any feed back on your experiences with these pcc's will be greatly appreciated .

I just love the feel of the high point compared to the sub 2000...Im a bigger guy, the little extra weight of the gun doesn't bother me in the least, it feels like a real gun compared to the kel tec...
I like the m series you have created, but damn brings the price up to mid 700...
A high point with a trigger kit.
May not equal the s2000 in combat style shooting... But it will shoot just as accurate in a stance as the kel tec...
I love that your all for improving these guns and will continue to support your company... My son just retired with 20 years in the army... CWO4.... Thanks for your service to our country and your continued success with your company...

What does putting it in backwards do?

    • @bigbinhous
      @bigbinhous 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@@geraldhoskins2021 wow, tough question. The HiPoint is bigger and bulkier but also less recoil and more accurate out of the box. The Keltec is more "packable" and also uses factory mags that match you pistol or even after market magazines that hold 30-35 rounds. (sorry I didn't see this question sooner) hope you are happy with whichever one you got.

Thanks for the information, it looks like the trigger spring change is a good idea. BTW, the Hi Point multi tool that is used to take off the Charging Handle can be used to swing the spring loaded clips. You use the back of the tool with the 2 little tips. I hope you will also start looking into some less expensive Red Dot sights. I don't want to put an $80 to $300 sight on the 995. I love the pistol and the rifle, I just don't want to turn it into a $1000 show piece, I want to take it to the range, woods, desert and pop off rounds.

Thanks for the great video, the whole process was simply step by step. Unfortunately my trigger pull weight is still 8 lbs, at least on my Wheeler manual scale. We'll see how it feels at the range. I took it back apart and double-checked the springs, and they appear exactly as yours do in the comparison you do at 8:45.

I sent one of the older 9mm's in for warranty work, but I don't think it was the fault of Hi-Point. More like someone trying to take it apart to clean it and messed up. But it's mine now and and they will check it out. I did manage to fire 2 rounds through it without the rear open sight. I was impressed at how straight it was shooting. Now I'm thinking S&W 40 Cal. Can't wait to get it back and take it to the lady that needed on for protection. The perfect weapon for Hogs and strays. Little woman with and outstanding carbine.

If you haven't installed it by now you're in for a very pleasant surprise. I just installed one in my old 995TS and am ecstatic with the trigger pull reduction. This instructional video is also spot on and made the job super easy.
I also ordered and installed one in my old Marlin 881 b/a and it totally transformed that rifle into a tack driver due to trigger pull reduction.

Great video. By the way, the roller on the charging handle is backwards. The narrow side should be towards the bolt. 1, if it's backwards it can mar the finish on your gun. And 2, when it's facing the correct direction, you can lock the bolt open if you wish. Still a great and informative post. Thank you for making this.

Removing the springs seemed problematic so I put a folded a towel on the floor, stood the rifle on it's nose, and filled the spring holes with a two part epoxy. I've been shooting this rifle for five years now with no issues. I have several rifles a this is without a doubt my favorite. Loads of fun to shoot.

I'll never use anything from Mcarbo again after I used their steel guide rod and recoil spring in my Hi-Point carbine, fired off about a 100 rounds and THEN got a notice from MCarbo to remove the componets as they were found to be causing damage to the gun. I changed them back to the factory and put the gun away. Took it out again quite some time later and noticed I'm getting misfeeds. Sure enough upon inspection I have cracks in the frame. Gun is currently at the factory and I'm hoping they'll cover it
under warranty but this could be considered abuse as it's an aftermarket part. Perhaps MCARBO will pick up the tab.

I polished the Dickens out of the sear while making darn sure to keep the corners crisp and it made a big difference for me.

I'd like to have a barrel shroud like is already made for the unthreaded barrels with the set screws but with a forward blast cap that'll unscrew and have 1/2 28 threads under the cap.

Redesign trigger lever to have a push back spring to auto reset trigger pull.

What size and what style of pin remover did you use

You have the charge handle knob installed backwards, so it can't lock open by dropping into the keyhole.

Should make mine really good because mine not intolerable or gritty now,it just feels like it's about a 6.5 lbs pull but not gritty at all.

i do wish you guys would design up an adjustable trigger for the carbines. that slop is really bad. way worse than my hi point .45 ACP. if the slack in the linkage could be adjusted tighter it would be pretty nice with the addition to your trigger spring kit

Wow. Love my new Hi-Point. Just put about 200 rounds thru it and now it needs a good cleaning but I had no idea how to break it down. This is the most complete detailed video I've seen. Well lit, well explained and illustrated. Question: Is there a different trigger available? OEM trigger hurts after a while. Maybe this spring kit will help with that.

There are aluminum triggers available for around 20 bucks.
I think they do black, silver and red.

Cool video, but you should take your charging handle out flip that piece of plastic over so that you can use it to lock your bolt. It's on upside down.

It was a piece of cake to switch out the spring. Hardest part was finding the two pieces I dropped on the dark patterned rug under the table. Oops...... range time Monday to check out the new trigger pull.

How about a different handle to accommodate a double stack mag

Good vid. Actually have an older model it uses bolts instead of the 2 pins. Wonder if there are other internal differences??

UDraft4 good question. Do you remember when you bought it? I doubt the pins would make any real difference. I’m sure it was something minor that they changed for efficiency purposes. Would you be willing to send us some pictures if you pull it apart? chris@mcarbo.com

Trigger Pull reduction is massive with this kit! You will notice a major difference!

Hmm looking at this video almost makes me think you can take a hi/lopoint frame , cut the mag well and add length front and back and can just pop it right into those parts kits .
