Good morning Jess, late watching you this week. I instantly recognised the trip out to the garden centre at Syon park, lots of choice there usually spend way too much ! The sugar baby watermelons are fab, I grew them last year from the same seed company that you have purchased yours from. Happy growing.... no I'm off to plant all the seeds that I should have sown last week. Take care. Xxx

I had never tried chard, but on your recommendation I have been on the lookout for it. I found some at the market and cooked it up. All I have to say about chard is, “Lover, where have you been all my life?” Thank you Jesse! New plant for me to grow.
Try the cooked leaves with a little soy sauce and butter - ridiculously delicious. And just wait till you try freshly picked home grown - you are in for a real treat. Mine were doing spectacularly - and then the caterpillars got in (it's just that time of year) so I'm going to re-sow it. Best wishes to you for a bumper crop!
Regarding the citronella, deterring the foxes and badgers. You could soak old teabags in the citronella and scatter round the boundaries. The teabags work as a sponge. It's worth a try. Good luck 👍
Can I suggest you sow your parsnips in May for successful germination.. despite instructions on seed packets it's best to sow in warmth in May! Try it sure even just for the craic! ☘️ Happy Paddy's Day to you and mum!
It's so good to see your mom moving so well after her hip surgery. She has such a great smile now without all that pain. God bless you both.💚 Our weather here in Kentucky, USA is as crazy as yours. :(
Cheers Jessie. I'm a week behind watching this and thinking how warm the weather is now. Such a big difference. Mumcam made me chuckle. Think you might need to utilise Mumcam some more for the entertainment purpose. 😂

Brilliant as always. Thought last nights potty mouths was great, wasn't sure if I could hear hedgehogs sneezing or cans of cider being cracked though 🤣🤔
On the California North Coast, this week it’s been flooding. Here near Eureka, we have had almost 4” of rain in 2 and a half days. We had two weeks of snow and hail before that. I am ahead on early potatoes, peas and spinach, behind on carrots and and onions. The broad beans have managed to survive it all. Tomatoes and peppers are sprouted indoors, but it’s too cold to move them outside to make room for squash and cucumbers, might fall behind on them too. At least our drought has ended. Love to Lil the Cat. Cheers.
Wow that is a quite the weather trials! It’s all a bit of a pest when it starts impacting sowing isn’t it!! Hopefully it will all work out for a great season later on. Cheers Joseph!
Hi Jessie, I love the lobster pj´s :) The weather here in south Berlin is crazy, too. This morning snow, than gray, now sunshine and later rain + airplane noise ;). I agree, usually the wind makes it challenging. My broccoli germinated like crazy on the window silt, also the sprouts...big decisions to make on how much to keep. Thanks for the wonderful vlog!

Making me feel a bit stressed reminding me of all the things I’ve not done yet but we are a bit behind you weather wise in Yorkshire! 🌺
Thanks, Jessie, to you and mum for another great vlog. I wait for you both every week. I just started my first seeds of the season a few weeks ago here in Alaska. I hope to do some indoor cucumbers this year, too. Thanks for a great weekly vlog!
stunning looking cuce seedlings Jess, well done you. With luck, and some warm weather you look as though you are in for a good crop. Fingers crossed for you.

Hey Jessie! I just love your YT channel with you and your mom.😍 I am a grower myself and enjoy watching other growers in the US, UK and Sweden. I myself live in Sweden in the southern part and now grow a lot myself for my family, as the food here is insanely expensive. Lives out in the country and has large land to grow various crops. I think it's interesting how others do things and to be able to get different inspirations from them. The weather here in Sweden is sometimes crazy too. Some days it's minus 5-10 and some days it's +10
Got my seed potatoes in wilko's the other day 2k, £3.wilja second early, that's what the chippy's use great for chips, and desiree maincrop, good for roasting and boiling..
Hi Jess we have had loads of rain snow masses of it then rain frosts and windy storms which blew our poly to shreds where I had tons of seedlings and sown seeds. They went everywhere the table tipped over only a few survived I am devastated. Me and stanley secured it last eve after he finished work in freezing cold rain. This is 3 rd time now so that’s it it seems secure for now but can’t get in and out very well as taped up cos it ripped. I have to sow all those seedlings you looking at in garden centre all again. Ummm...something you might consider. Coffee grounds are an amazing fertilizer. I use them all the time in my gardens, throw them across the snow in the winter to feed the soon to come lawn & crocus, etc.. And the grounds compost very quickly, even before the snow properly melts some years. Wouldn't it make a tad more sense to share the coffee grounds on top of the soil of your beds in order of importance of the crops, rather than feeding the weeds etc. around the boundary? Sort of feed the plants while deterring the annoyances (the wee beasties). In the beds: 2 birds/1 stone. Around the boundary: one deterrent but feeding the weed population: 1 bird/1 stone/1 more job to stay on top of over summer. Just a thought.
The weather is bonkers Jessie. I wanted to put my Red Duke of York in today, but it snowed all afternoon here in southern Scotland and its now perishing again. More waiting......
Hey Jessie, You are having crazy weather there. We are steady with the daytime -5° C to 5° C everyday and nighttime -16° C to 1° C. So normal for us also we have had 80 inches of snow this winter and 24 inches still on the ground. So I am starting all my seeds indoors so I will have good size plants for the garden on day one. I am doing 20 varieties of peppers and tomatoes this year. Lots of the regular vegetables. I am going to try some new ideas of vertical growing and succession growing. I am always so interested to see the seed varieties y'all have over there. I watch your channel and I get ideas for a particular variety and then I set off to find it and once found it can go in the current year's garden or the plan for the next year. Good luck with your spring and summer garden plans I do hope you find some good success and fun along the way. Peace and blessings bye for now
@@JessieatPlot37 We average 51.2" per year: this year is the 8th highest historical snowfall amount. FYI 98.6 inches was the all time record for one year. We are forecast 2" to 4" more inches of snow today so it is not over yet. We are used to it, so we just move it away and go do whatever you are supposed to do that day!
Hi Jess, currently picking a lot of cucumbers so I have dehydrated them as cucumber chips. Delicious! I also pre sprout my parsnip and sweet corn seeds as you have done. Tomato and capsicum seed I do as well. Currently a lovely autumn here apart from the 16mm of rain followed by 22mm the following hour the other day. Beryl in NZ
Hi Jessie, Coffee grounds are gold dust in the garden. We have been experimenting with them: - We use in the compost bin to warm it up. Particularly good in winter when “greens” are particularly short - Also in our mix for hugelkultur beds. We are in heavy water logged clay. - AND, we grew our Xmas potatoes in a coffee ground and sow dust. They were doing very well until the frost killed them. 😢 Have you sourced Brad Atomic Grape seeds? Or shall I send you an email with my details?
Hi Gina, yeah, they are are pretty great. I’m so happy the pubs saving them for me :D Also, no! No i haven’t found and Brads and I’d love some! If you drop me an email :D Thank you!
Hi I am holding off planting as it is snowing and the soil is frozen here in North Derbyshire, we get frost in May so only hardy things like onions before April here. Good luck stopping the badgers!
Gah, transplant shock is a horror! I’m very careful about compost and water temperatures when transplanting now after a few run-ins with it over the years. So frustrating! How much did you loose?
Feeling guilty about ‘making ‘you and Mom go to the Plot in this horrible mad weather ☹️🤥🥲….but Thankyou for going ‘above and beyond’!!!👍👍….If it’s any consolation, the reclaiming project was interesting and answered my query last week.Jolly neat idea to store the wood stack…and moving ‘Lils Perch’, and also a bit of Badger defence at the same time (get more pallets from places like builders yards, garden centres, Home Base etc…if would fit in back of car, with back seats down)….Those logs for wood burner, waste not want not!👍again…Good progress with deterring the ‘critters’, using even more recycled treasures…well done😃….Mom V Honeysuckle trial this week…Mom wins!!…of course, 🥊🥊..knock out…👏👏. Was that garden centre British Garden one?…My local one is closed till Wednesday this week?!… and the cafeteria…most likely to keep costs down. Will get their veg plantlets, I think, as the weather here totally abysmal!… had about 3 inches of snow recently here…and ‘alledgedly’ some ‘minus alot’ temperatures tonight (Tuesday)..maybe warmer by weekend???…more permanently this time 🙏🙏..You are very wise to delay going wild with the seed sowing just now…every year is so different!!…Gardeners have to outwit dear old Mother Nature, who is not being too helpful currently…😱🥶…The Girlies made me laugh..trying to snaffle the meal worms before you could get them out of the tin!!!..🐓🐓😂….and also Mom’s camera work with an interesting angle !!!..hilarious, but she’s a good sport, and chuckled about it too !!…By the way… the early morning potting up of cucumbers, in ‘PJs’ no less, very elegant, Jessie😄…..So… there was seed sowing at the end!!…Webb’s Wonderful, are just That…wonderful… have grown them!… also the variety lettuce which are pick and pick again types…The glass of wine is a good accompaniment to ease the sowing production line. !!!….Cheers, and Here’s to a Non Badger Plot, and ‘Actual Better Weather’?!!!.. Sue(still in Winter , Up North…🥶Bham)
Hahah, don’t feel guilty Sue. It’s great that you gave me a reason to get out and do something! :D Which is your local one Sue? Funny that its staying closed but yeah, like you say. maybe costs! Always handy to be able to pick up a few plants isn’t it. Even if we do also love growing from seed! It’s funny, I’ve had a couple of PJ’s mentions and i was convinced i kept them off camera hahahaha! Cheers Sue!
Great video as always, thank you. Totally non gardening question, where did your blue top that your wearing at the end come from please? My one like that is totally disintegrating it's so old, lol.
Thank you! Ah, its the Modal (i think its called) vest from Jigsaw! I’ve got so many of them, some are more that 15 years old… and yes, falling apart too. But i love them hahahah!
I will try watermelon grow one in the greenhouse and a few under the sky. I live in Poland so the weather could be too cold for watermelon under the sky. We will see which will be a better greenhouse or under the sky.
Here in the states we have a sweet corn called golden bantem. It’s a 55-60 day corn. I can generally direct sow it in june. Do you have a corn like that?
You are going for the same technique as me with the Parsnips. I had exactly the same issue as you last year. will you grow them in containers or in a bed?
Im so behind on everything , socthe things that are trickier to grow like chilli's ,peppers etc mine have thrived , the easy seeds like beetroot, sweetpeas have done nothing nit a single 1 , so im going to be so behind but living in the north west we are also struggling with light issues don't think we've had any sun for a week its ju gtey and overcast so the poor seeds are just not knowing what seasoncit is
So strange when things like that happen, isn’t it?! As least your chillis and peppers are flying!! I really hope the bum end of march is a bit brighter because we really do need some light don’t we!
Why so early Jessie ? I don't sow cucurbits till late April ,they get so big so quick.Seems so very cold and early for a lot of things but will be interesting to see if you pull it off 🙂

@@JessieatPlot37 We average 51.2" per year: this year is the 8th highest historical snowfall amount. FYI 98.6 inches was the all time record for one year. We are forecast 2" to 4" more inches of snow today so it is not over yet. We are used to it, so we just move it away and go do whatever you are supposed to do that day!
lovely video jessie i havent put anything in yet just too cold
Very sensible Steven!!
Beryl in NZ
Ohhh, never tried cucumber crisps Beryl! Glad your autumn is better than our spring :D
I've got my small trays from Wilko they do the green and black ones and they are very cheap
Did your video include a Treasure Hunt? If so I saw the aqua egg behind you in your office! Lol🎉😂
Hahahhahahaha!
Hi Jessie,
Coffee grounds are gold dust in the garden. We have been experimenting with them:
- We use in the compost bin to warm it up. Particularly good in winter when “greens” are particularly short
- Also in our mix for hugelkultur beds. We are in heavy water logged clay.
- AND, we grew our Xmas potatoes in a coffee ground and sow dust. They were doing very well until the frost killed them. 😢
Have you sourced Brad Atomic Grape seeds? Or shall I send you an email with my details?
Hi Gina, yeah, they are are pretty great. I’m so happy the pubs saving them for me :D Also, no! No i haven’t found and Brads and I’d love some! If you drop me an email :D Thank you!
Girl you is busy, I've only just sown 12 Dwarf Tomato varieties 🥴
hahaha! I’m convinced its spring, despite what going on outside :D
Hi I am holding off planting as it is snowing and the soil is frozen here in North Derbyshire, we get frost in May so only hardy things like onions before April here. Good luck stopping the badgers!
Ah yeah, gosh, frost in May!!
I grow sweet baby they only need around 75 days so usually successful 👍
Oh that’s encouraging!
O mais frio que já senti foi 13C. 😂
Latitude sul 23 😅🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Very sad day today, our 13yr old pekin bantam died .
Oh Pauline! I’m so sorry!
❤😊
Hi Jessie I have just potted up my peppers and have discovered seedling transplant shock! have you ever had trouble with this ? Love the channel.
Which is your local one Sue?
@@JessieatPlot37 great, thank you :-)
@@JessieatPlot37 just looked and some are in the sale if you want to replace yours, lol
Have you got frogspawn?
Not yet!
I will try watermelon grow one in the greenhouse and a few under the sky. I live in Poland so the weather could be too cold for watermelon under the sky. We will see which will be a better greenhouse or under the sky.
try planting next to wall of you house in sunny area see if this helps .
Be interesting to see!
Look for varieties like Serbian lights that are used too colder climates
👍🏾
Here in the states we have a sweet corn called golden bantem. It’s a 55-60 day corn. I can generally direct sow it in june. Do you have a corn like that?
We have a couple of quick cropping ones but not sure about Golden bantam specifically.
I don't sow cucurbits till late April ,they get so big so quick.Seems so very cold and early for a lot of things but will be interesting to see if you pull it off 🙂
Jesse grows them inside. They're not going out to the allotment.
@@redshift5050 yes I'm aware of that and love Jessies Channel .Im just worried others will try growing the squashes and courgettes Jessie mentioned .She didnt mention the indoor growlights set up she has .
Haven’t sown them yet, only said I’m not sowing them hahaha! I’ll talk about timing when i do :D
Jessie, you didn't put a link to the live chat you did on Monday! Please do🥰👍💕
Just search youtube for "potty mouth garden club " .
Ah sorry! I forgot!! I’ll go back and do it now :)
@@georgemartin9618 thank you 😊🙏
