Love ECM output. Have taken many impulse chances on "never-heard-of" stuff merely because it was on ECM that paid off. The Jodorowsky soundtrack stuff is amazing, yes.

Sad that we lost Kenny Wheeler not that long ago (of course along with many others)..but the passing away recently of Kenny's long-time musical partner (and one of my favorite pianists) John Taylor really brought the point home for me. We're losing so many of the musicians who are and have been an inspiration in my life. I guess that's to be expected at my age (56), but I still don't like it.... All my best, Dereck -Gary

Looks like you pulled some of those albums right out of my collection. 😅 The Doors first album was my first purchase except the 45 I bought for my older Sister and it was "Little Stevie Wonder Fingertips part 1 & 2" I bought it when it came out for I think.49 cents. Love my "Heavy" album...Unconscious Power! 😊 And. I did see Fleetwood Mac after Peter Green and before Lindsey & Stevie...it was at the Fox Theater in Long Beach 1974 or 75 ish. And well Jethro Tull...love them and saw them. 3 times once with It's A Beautiful Day. Whew...TH-cam had some footage of Jethro Tull at the Forum in Inglewood from one show we went to...I saw Aqualung, Thick As A Brick and Passion Play. 😊 Crazy hearing what was happening to you back then..."Peace my Friend.🙏😎
Derek you have to hear this guy, it'll tear your heart out. Ludovico Einaudi I came across him watching a TV play based on Pasternaks ZHIVAGO (not the 1965 movie) but all his music is soul searching. YT won't allow copy/paste but search on this title - Ludovico Einaudi-Zhivago should reveal it. You probably know of him already if so sorry, but he is worth spreading news of - he was new to me. One of the old guys. :-)
Glad to see someone with musical tastes diverse as my own. Most of my friends are into Hard rock or hybrids of such. I love Classical to Operas like Carmen and Barber of Seville to modern and Andrew Lloyd Webber. Also dig Miles and all the fusion that was off shoots like Weather Report and Return to Forever. But my passion like you as we are the same age is classic rock. Too bad someone has to die before we fully appreciate them. Keep doing what your doing and know many are on your side. Don't let ignorance stop you man. ROCK ON!!!!

I deal with the same situations here, dereck. people see things and they don't know why it's happening, what the background is, and so they just act on what they see. it can be annoying but it's part of what you deal with when you interact with so many people.

Ah Jodorowsky! Wasn't the "El Topo" soundtrack shown in another video? I'm not much of a "comic" or "graphic novel" amateur, but I like the "Métal Hurlant" (Heavy Metal) series. It has some very ground-breaking sic-fi, and Jodorowsky was a part of it (along with Moebius). Another great artist of the whole movement is Philippe Druillet (who was supposed to work on Jodorowsky's Dune film). He drew a cover for Jimi Hendrix's Electric Ladyland, on the Barclay label. Cool cover! Does anyone own a copy?
