Man my guitar player from Egypt hipped me to Richard Bona the dude is also monster . Zawinul will always be a great inspiration to me. Truly a man w a world ear.....
BONA c'est le meilleur parmi les meilleus ,nous ses fans au Cameroun son Pays natal voudraient qu'il revienne sur sa decision de ne pas venir au Pays tant qu'on lui demandera un visa d'entree
They must have been trying this out before a room of mannequins before they let in the real audience. No living humans could witness that level of fierce rocking without flipping out.
Reasonably.Jaco was great, and that's no denying, but to say he is the greatest, and is a template for another bassist skills is very very subjective. There's a few that I would stack past him Maximiliano Bressan
he isnt moving forward in the time like the rest of the rhythm section. like at 3:20 the percussionist is "tippin" waaaay more and has a very vivacious way of moving through time while the just the guitarists sits back a tad and it in turn drags everybody else in the group down
masters for sure - move over Jaco - I miss Wayno though---these guys werre my absolute mentors resonating with music in my soul that was already for friggen' lifetimes
Love the keys, M1! This was before the masterkeyboard became standard I guess. What if he wanted to play the lead parts on the m1 and bass parts on the Hammond? Would he turn his back on the audience? LoL Love this Music though, like Porn Music gone wild
+nengstro Joe also had a master keyboard, a Prophet T-8. He used it mainly for piano and electric piano sounds. He did not use a Hammond at that time. His midi routing was unique and comlex
Why is Bona billed as the featured artist on this video when he is, like most bassists and drummers, a sideman of the leader, Joe Zawinul, and his band? I know - it's the old bass players' disease and inferiority complex. They want to convince us that everything revolves around the bassists when nothing could be further from the truth. I remember when I was on a business trip in Mali, there was the sound of drums and other percussion wherever I went. Finally, after three days, my visit ended, and I was boarding the plane when the drumming stopped abruptly. I was somewhat surprised and asked the stewardess why it stopped. She said, "Now the bass solo starts." Perplexing but true.
Emil Gassanov - Sometimes a stylus would keep jumping back due to a fault in the vinyl or a foreign body, eg an inflated tear on the surface would cause an out of time loop. Zawinul and his band mates would never play out of time. They were always in the groove.
Can't get enough of Bona. I'm crazy about that guy's way of playing his bass...
good to see Bona playing a Jazz bass!!
and not a Fodera!!
Definitely rocks the Marcus Miller look

I didn't know Amit was in the band during this period
@x1te no it is not a Marcus miller bass, its the model marcus millers was based on but its not the same one.
Jaco was good, but all the other bass players Joe got after, were monsters too
No Jaco...no that style and technique...
Yea Jaco is the reason why they were monsters. Jaco = Foundation to most players that play in this genre. (my opinion)
Yep Halo.Linley is good
not at all.Jaco copied Jerry Jemmott's style its fair to say
Reasonably.Jaco was great, and that's no denying, but to say he is the greatest, and is a template for another bassist skills is very very subjective. There's a few that I would stack past him Maximiliano Bressan
JEEE ! :)
@x1te yes of course its a great bass and a greater player!! but personally I dont know if I prefer maple or rosewood fingerboard... whats your view?
my MAN, Mokhtar Samba on drums!
Amit Chatterjee plays the guitar in this video
I get the impression that joe zawinul had a little crazy hahaha
Should have been called 'Ode to Jaco '

Move over Jaco? Yeah right. You're out of your mind. Havona is the greatest Weather Report track ever.

more looks like he wants to beat miller in bass duel
Maybe Bona wants look like Marcus Miller
Lol Bona wants to look like Miller
man that guitar player is dragging everybody down........ :(
Come on....for god's sake! It reminds me the broken record.
Emil Gassanov - Sometimes a stylus would keep jumping back due to a fault in the vinyl or a foreign body, eg an inflated tear on the surface would cause an out of time loop. Zawinul and his band mates would never play out of time. They were always in the groove.
i don't get the guitar player. just mute his channel for god's sake
yeah...kinda out of contest...
..TERRIBLEE!!!
