- The citizen journalist who livestreamed the Monday mass shooting at a Boulder, Colorado supermarket spoke to Inside Edition. Dean Schiller says he was about to buy lunch at King Soopers with his friend, Denny Stong, a 20-year-old employee who died in the shooting, when he heard gunfire. “I don’t think there’s anything that can prepare you, really, for seeing what I saw,” Schiller said. For the next hour, Schiller kept recording. Only later did Schiller discover that Stong was among the 10 victims. #InsideEdition

There is SO much wrong with HIS livestream. I watched the full 3 hours on his channel. Walking by dead victims bodies, not calling for help, interfering with the police at at active crime scene, disrespecting and violently verbally assaulting officers in danger... SO MUCH WRONG with it. I wouldn’t be surprised if law enforcement doesn’t make contact with him from his “innocent live stream”. This makes youtubers and creators look very bad. NB: while in a dangerous situation, get out of danger, seek shelter, help others, call for help...we don’t “fire up the livestream” ???🙄
I too could not believe he didn't offer aid. Even to the man with a walker at the back of the store could have been helped to safety. He is NOT "a journalist" and interfered with the police and totally abused them verbally. I did watch because there was a news vacuum on the situation but he could have been a better "reporter" and PERSON.

When your in that kind of situation it’s a flight or fight response and your mind draws blank. It’s the body’s natural reaction. I’ve never been in a shooting but I was in a bad car accident almost 3 months ago and right before impact I couldn’t think of anything, not even my family

The fact that people don’t want to see it just shows how much they hide all truth, ever since tragedy struck me real hard, it’s been easy for me to feel empathy and not just so I can make someone feel better, but anytime something tragic happens I can feel their pain or I can only imagine what I wouldn’t want to imagine had they had it worse.....it’s a disgusting eye opener, but I think everyone should see something tragic to get a sense of the world we live in

HE WAS YELLING AT POLICE, CALLING THEM NAMES AND ASKING FOR BADGE NUMBERS BECAUSE THEY TOLD HIM TO BACK AWAY SO THEY CAN DO THEIR JOB. His very important "Friend" was CALLING HIM, LOOKING FOR HIM, but he didn't answer because he was live streaming. When people got on the stream he kept telling them "rewind if you want to see the bodies, dont forget to subscribe!". And he even referred to being there as "being at the right place at the right time."

Denny was a friend of my friend who lives in Boulder. It’s so horrible that this happened and my heart goes out to anyone who was affected.
I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost a friend here in Woodstock Ga in the 1st spa shooting she went with her husband to get a couples massage. They agent had a date night in 8 months because of their new baby. It sucks losing a friend or family member this way. Ppl joke to much so in a way this is good for ppl to see. But at the same time it gets to us who have lost a loved on in this type of situation.

I watched the stream live as it happened. He started to run towards the store to see what was going on. He asked where the shooter was, and the greeter, who was just standing there looking at his phone (was told he was special needs so it makes sense), that the shooter was inside and went down that way. He proceeds to go inside and look down where the guy was pointing and then more shots ring out and then he left because he wasn't going to just stand around while an active shooter was in the store.

To me I feel like this guy was more into his TH-cam page and going viral instead of actually trying to help the people that where down. He passed by the girl who was shot in the entrance area like 4 or 5 times and never once checked to see if she was still alive. Imagine if she was alive and just needed somone to pull her away from the area or even start CPR perhaps a life could have been saved idk but maybe.

I think you need to think this through. He live streamed it to the entire world to see what is going on. Shouted saying there was an active shooter about 3 times or so outside the super market to let others know and get away from there. As for his friend I do understand that we mustn't leave anyone behind but no one thought there would be shooting happening. I think that should at least helped a lot of people who live there
Also as for asking where his friend was obviously he knew they went to the super market together and they separated either before the shooting happened. You would think that asking where his friend was is pretty stupid after he found out he was shot dead.

Everything was happening fast aside from the livestream and if he were to end it people wouldn't keep up with the situation and take matters into their own hands. You wouldn't know how a person's mind would think as it may be either saving their friend or finding safety. Who knows maybe his friend hoped that he made it out alive and not met the same fate as he did. He isn't the only one who lost someone in a tragic event. A lot of people did and have different ways in doing so in the end someone would still be hurt physically, emotionally and mentally
If you watch his video, you'll see his friend called him from store and he didn't take the call because he wanted to live stream... Danny could still be alive today if he just answered the call and told him to what's happening.

If I managed to escape a situation like that without having a massive panic attack, I think I would rather spend my energy helping the injured or others escape instead of running around yelling and recording everything. I work at Walmart in Colorado, I fear everyday for my life and the lives of our customers and coworkers. So senseless.
This guy got balls shouting "active shooter" while I am pretty sure the shooter heard him and you could hear gun shots in the background still. Also that's an odd age gap between friends.

If you watch his video, his friend was calling him on his cell phone from inside the supermarket but he did not answer the call. Instead, he asked some of his live stream viewer friends to call his pall inside the grocery store to check on him. In my opinion, that could have exposed his friend's exact location inside to the gunman. 😢
One minute his friend is calling him, he elects not to answer and interrupt his live stream, then, he's asking others to blow up his friend's phone inside the supermarket during a mass shooting event. 😔😔😔😔😔😔😔😔😔

@@michaelm8992 he wouldn't be able to do much anyways with the calls. just the harsh truth, denny wouldve died quicker if he was talking on the phone. there's no way he could've "escorted" denny out of the building via call, they don't work there, they don't know the exact location of the shooter and the layout of the grocery store. yeah maybe being in the call wouldve let denny say his last goodbye but that 100% would just give ptsd/depression to the dude recording.

@@johnnyfrankenstein0123 the smartest thing to do is get the hell out of there. Not sure how much shooting you do but handguns have a very limited range where you can be accurate. Not to mention the stress you'd be experiencing would make you shake like a leaf. Notice how the cops went in with rifles an not little compact CCW handguns.
