Been driving a 2014 S4 since Nov 2013 and just recently got around to go APR Stg1 at 458hp (93octane) after warranty expired. I feel like I got a brand new car now equal to RS5 performance for a $1000 upgrade. Was debating to upgrade to RS5 sportback but no need for that now. Downside is my MPG is now in the single digits according to fuelly. If I drive it normal I can get well over 30mpg on the highway way more than stock. Might go STG2 when time to change the belts.
4.46 seconds is pretty good time for not using the launch control and having traction control on. My S5 Cabriolet when stock with launch control and traction control off I got 4.96 seconds but that weighs like 700 lbs more than the S4. I'm surprised the traction control light didn't flash in your attempt as my S5 now stage 1 will invoke that when it's on and cuts power when I mash throttle like that from the start. I just ordered an intake can't wait to get that in the car these are so fun to drive I had a 17 STI and lease was up and picked the 12 S5 Cab in it's place and couldn't be happier I'd much rather be driving the S5.

I also own a Manual avant. With the sports diff, super sports seats and ads. Rare spec and it’s really amazing. I think the manual box is really good, next upgrade is short shifter. Think that will take the box to the next level....
Michael Williams I just turned mine in for an S6, but let me tell you that I had sooooo much fun with it. Mine had a manual gearbox and had a Unitronic stage 1+ tune with AWE touring exhaust and down pipes. It sounded awesome and was lightning fast. Also you couldn’t kill the engine with a bullet it is so good! If you get one, you will not regret it.
I ordered a 2011 A4 new from the factory with the Titanium Package and the only difference between the A4 and S4 on the exterior was the dual exaust (A4 only had one muffler on the right side) and the mirrors being silver on the S4. The mini spoiler and front grill were identical. On the interior the only difference was the S4 badging and the top half of the seat was shaped slightly differently. Excellent video though!
Torn between this, and E55 and 335xi. E55 has the most bulletproof engine and is the most luxurious, this handles the best and is probably the funnest to drive. 335xi is the easiest/cheapest to add power. Love the STS-V as well, but there’s not much more you can squeeze out of it without adding a turbo.
E55 is a fine beast and very suitable for gentleman cruising with a beautiful V-8 groove , if your younger with hotter blood the 335i, or S4 boost tuned will give you more fun on B-roads IMO than the Merc. The 335i N54 has a long list of maintenance items that need doing, but once done them all the car is reliable and a more classic tail happy RWD sports sedan, very nice steering feel in corners; the Audi with rear differential vectoring, well it's cheating how well that goes around corners, and if you love the Supercharger whine as its fins hit 55,000rpm it's a bit of the old ME-109 DNA sneaking out from under the hood.. :D
The S4 has absolutely nothing on a e90 335xi except for maybe the more upscale interior and a prettier body. But for what REALLY counts - chassis dynamics, steering feel, and road feel, the BMW will smoke the S4. And unlike an AUDI, the Bimmer won't require a buddy who works at a local Towing company lol
I’d rather have a 3.0 S4 than any BMW. The 3.0 is probably the best motor any German company has made. They’re basically bulletproof. BMW is known for turbo issues. The 3.0 supercharger doesn’t have issues. The 4.2 is also not a great car, so you’re not missing much by not driving one. They have ring problems and timing chain issues (have fun replacing one in the location the 4.2 chain is in!) The only 4.2 that is worth it is an RS4 from ‘07-‘08. For some reason, those 4.2s don’t have the same issues as the S4 4.2s (I don’t have any idea why.)
2.9 TSI sounds so much better. This supercharged V6 might be a strong unit, but some maintenance issues require engine-out operations. And when is Audi going to put the engine behind the front axle instead of ahead of it?
