@@jamesmcdougal2 they're just another branch of the Russian military, get most of their weapons from the same places, and had access to the same weapon and ammo stockpiles spread throughout Russia. Different branding to give Russia plausible deniability (e.g. those little green men in 2014) but they're part of the Russian establishment, and most of their commanders and their best people are veterans of the standard Russian military.

Yes a perfect situation with a major mutiny of very disgruntled mercenaries that is in too good timing with Ukraine's major counteroffensive.
I don't see this as a coincidence. I see this as fantastic work with preparations going on for months by the CIA. Yes the Wagner Group has all the motives to end the war. They were dying in droves. They were abandoned and they are mercenaries of which many are released violent criminals from prison.
I think the only thing they lacked in motivation for rising against Putin was enormous sums of money. They will likely get that from the CIA and the Wagner leaders probably have some of their foreign bank accounts filled up with at least tens of millions of dollars, if not hundreds of millions.
The Aagner Group has not only left the war. It has occupied the main logistics hub of the Russian armed forces fighting in Ukraine. That means that the Russians will soon lack, food, ammunition, spare parts and reinforcements for their troops. Since the main Russian military HQ was seized by Wagner, the Russian forces will receive very few operational and strategic orders from their generals.
This means that the Russian fron could collapse within weeks or even days.
Was all this simply extremly bad luck and extremly bad timig for Putin? Or was it an extremly well planned and well funded operation by the U.S. Intelligence Community?
I think the latter. This single act of the Wagner group will save so many men, resources and time for the Ukrainians. It is either a generals wet dream come true, or it was an ingenious subversive intelligence operation.
Might be better for Ukraine to pause ... and let Putin pull out all his troops to protect his position in Moscow. Victory by enemy leaving.

I know I'm saying that after it is a fait accompli but, ultimately, after Putin's tough talk, this will make Putin appear weak to the Russian people. If part of the deal is replacing Shoigu and Gerasomov, it will make Putin appear even weaker.
