Yes, it is from the House of Marcus Fabius Rufus, in a Pompeian style dated to the mid 1st century BC. You are right, other paintings from Pompeii and one from Herculaneum are all posthumous, but the one he used for the reconstruction is contemporary and during her lifetime, perhaps even while she was living in Rome as a guest queen.

Cleopatra VII and the intriguing male figures who featured so deeply and significantly in her life and reign have always fascinated me. It's incredible to see them brought to life here based on their surviving representations. Looking forward to the next historical personalities you decided to work on.

I don't think that the Roman Consul "Pompeo" "Magnus" can be translates in english with "Pompey". You confuse the town at the foot of Vesuvio Volcano with the Consul

I know at least one daughter or her descendent married into royalty of N. Africa, I believe Numidia? So theoretically the Ptolemaic bloodline likely survives, if untraced, assuming those accounts are accurate. I looked it up a while ago out of curiosity.
