Love following your adventures. Some interesting information about the property you stopped at with the cabins, it was my Mom's property once upon a yesteryear. She bought the property in the early 80's and she and my stepdad started building the Main cabin and the outbuildings in the late 80's. My stepdad worked in Bullhead City at the time. The road to Bullhead crossed over the Davis Dam at the time and he would fill up a big water tank a few times a week and haul water to the cabin. In it's heyday it was a magnificent oasis in the middle of nowhere. They built a saloon (gone now) called the Black Cat Saloon. It was located across from the fallen down chapel that you peeked inside. They built the chapel for my brother who was married there. They had many fiends and of course family that would come out to the property for long weekends. There would be numerous motorhomes and trailers and a big fire pit. People would be having fun in the Saloon and telling tales around the fire until the late hours. The kitchen in the cabin was so dang cute. The checkerboard floor and many of her personal touches like the saguaro drawer pulls you pointed out. The outbuilding behind the cabin was a workshop and they made amazing wood crafts and bird houses they would sell at craft fairs. Sadly by the mid 90's they became ill and had to move away form their dream cabin and property. Even more sad is the amount of vandalism that began happening not long after they moved. Thanks for stopping by the property :)
We have a drinking game when you post a new video. Every time you pull your glasses down we do a shot. We're pretty much shit faced 60 seconds into the video. If you show your Chewbacca arm pit hair and someone pukes, they automatically win.
Thank you WH. Serials always keep you on the edge of your seat. Hope that you find in the openness of nature and the solemness of your group that sparkle of truth which leads to understanding of the meaning of life not just why you carry rocks around the desert.
Those first cans are "C" Rations. The small fat one was a meat dish, and the skinny one may have been peanut butter or cheese spread. I ate several hundred of those meals in the field in Vietnam,
Another great adventurous video Sara, can't wait to see the next one. Before careful out there and watch out for flash floods while your out there. Be safe and stay warm.
This. Is. Epic! I took a three-day overland trip along the Lewis and Clark trail through the Bitteroot Mountains in September with a buddy, camping out of his Jeep. LOVE THIS TYPE OF ADVENTURE! Thank you soooo much for sharing!
Love your adventures. My friends and I used to go excursions back in the day. I'm from the East though. Beautiful South Carolina has lots of history and interesting places to explore, but I've been out west and hunger to do so. (Never typo)
We used to call it the tradesmen trail runner several guys where we worked for Rockwell international used to make it a two or three times a year trip awesome trail sure nice to get away from all the crazy have a great time
Wow, it's been 30 yrs since I traveled the Mojave Road. We took two days for our expedition. Fort Mojave to Barstow, it's a fun time. You know how to have fun, and Dennis Casebier "Friends of the Mojave" is the book to have. The pioneer diary stories in that book are incredible, reading them as you travel. The one about the Indians attacking the stage coach in Afton Canyon is dramatic, the doctor dying after 3 days at the Soda Lake army base with an arrow through his neck. Those stage coaches would travel more than 100 miles per day, stopping every 25mi at those forts where Army personnel keep the horses fed and watered, ready to be hitched to a stage coach when it comes through.
I did my first trip in 07 over Christmas and it was a few of the coldest nights on record in the area. It went down to 11 degrees and we near froze to death. The last time was in 2016 in the early spring and even though it rained on us a bit we were quite comfy.
And here I'd almost forgotten it's Wednesday...and along comes Sarah and crew with a story about day one of the MRE(8-). No...not Meals Ready to Eat!(8-). The REAL (Marca Registrata) Mojave Road Expedition.(8-) Thanks to the 4 of you for making my day. I really appreciate your efforts. Please accept a little love from northeast Missouri.
So jealous! And what a great idea for a road trip series. Nevada has so much unique history to it. Always enjoy your videos of you on the road to anywhere :) Wander on, Wonder Hussy, wander on...
I hope you know that not only do I admire and care about you as a person but I so sincerely appreciate all your hard work that you so generously share with us but also your research and interesting history lessons
Thank you! Looking forward to the next part. And I love the slow pace you're going. My kind of people to want to explore and enjoy the journey, not just worry about the destination.
The Mojave Road Guide - I actually bought one at the Goffs Schoolhouse from the author Dennis Casebier. Unfortunately he died last year at 87. No idea who owns or runs the exhibits there now but they used to be open on the weekends during the non-hot months. Definitely worth a visit.
Yay another WH video. I really look forward to your videos Sara. You do a great job. I’m not just saying that because I own a 4Runner too. Thanks for the video. I’m looking forward to the other 3 in this series too.
The way you just reach under counters and things scare the hell out of me, excellent hiding places for snakes, as well as Inside old mattresses. I don't like snakes!!!!
Wow I think I saw this video back when you put it out. I discovered your channel about eight years ago and we talked on email a couple times back then. But this is great I had no idea I would be watching this video later and didn't know about the Mojave Road because I just moved to Bullhead city from Huntington Beach and three months ago I was at that same flag. Randomly finding it with my buddies on dirt bikes. You really have been everywhere 😂
Had to pause and say that I have traveled the Mojave Road many times with the first time after I bought Dennis' first edition of the book from the BLM (HARDCOVER!!!) in 1991. He's revised it a few times, but I found that if you don't read the book BEFORE traveling the road, he makes it almost impossible to follow from trying to read the book. While things are indexed for mileage, his style of writing continually mixes the history and the route instructions, making it almost impossible to easily or quickly access the route instructions. After my last trip in May 2020 I wanted to have a chat with Dennis. The joke was I wanted to torture him for making the book so cryptic, but in reality he and his group, the Friends of the Mojave Road are the sole reason that the Mojave Road exists as an off-road trail. These folks are the ones that discovered the trail, marked it out, and then worked with the US Dept. of Land Management and private land owners to get the trail established as a legal route. Dennis is a true off-roading hero.
Wow we also stopped by that creepy house and walked around in there. About three years ago. There is a dirtbike track out in the back that is still there. We parked right in front of those bullet holes. That is kind of a destination for dirt bikers Riding from bullhead city Laughlin
Cool literary find there! I teach those stories to my high school English students...great video, WonderHussy! I live up in N.E. Nevada and enjoy your videos of this great state!
Again another great video adventure! Keep up the good work. I would love to do the same trip. Unfortunately, most of my friends are van lifers, need to get some 4 wheelers just to be safe for sure.
Hey Wonderful Hussy. You are so Funny. Love you and your video. Not only do you show us cool places and stuff. But you tell us the history of most places. Been all over northern New Mexico Taos and that area. I thought I knew everything . You even educated me on cool places around Taos. 🇺🇸
Larry has a beamer? haha, bummer, yeah hard to beat those toyters. My girlfriend works for Toyota. And Kyle Bush from Las Vegas drives one for Nascar! How but that ! I run my tires fairly soft all winter. Lowers my mileage but I gain 40% traction and braking in the snow and rain, plus the tires last longer and the ride as you said is softer. Unless of course if I'm fully loaded. Then it takes a bit more air. Creepy old waterbed frame by that cross tho, Nice to travel with people who like to take time to explore. Nice video.
The small can you have looks like a 1960s-70s military C-ration can. I never forgot what the shapes of those cans. Usually they have peanut butter, cheese, or jam in them.
Air downing the tires? I think people do that when they are using very sandy roads as perhaps it works well at preventing the vehicle from getting stuck in the sand. How about doing a night visit to some abandoned place. I think it would be a scary thing to try.
I've done that road 3 times in 3 different Toyotas. It's a fantastic journey that I recommend. Hopefully the Mojave river doesn't become too full cause I don't have a snorkel and we are going to do it in January
Appreciate your work Wonderhussy and friends.

1 of my favorite trails!
8:23 Good thing that bed had a rollbar. And that cross is probably really a bullseye for meteors, one of which almost hit it.
Your travels are always interesting with your little stories.
glad to see you did this route. Its been on my list for a while, cant wait to watch the rest of the adventure!
I'm glad I took time to watch this before I crashed for the night. I'll be enjoying this series.
Thank you WH. Serials always keep you on the edge of your seat. Hope that you find in the openness of nature and the solemness of your group that sparkle of truth which leads to understanding of the meaning of life not just why you carry rocks around the desert.

Another great adventurous video Sara, can't wait to see the next one. Before careful out there and watch out for flash floods while your out there. Be safe and stay warm.

Never knew this road existed. I'll have to travel it when I'm free of my responsibilities.
Love your content, just subscribed, keep up the great work!
The rusted cans at 8 minutes are from 60’s-70’s military C rations. Used extensively in Vietnam. Really enjoying your videos.
Awesomeness!!
Hi, Larry!(8-). Thanks again for helpin' Sarah out...and for the behind the scenes videos.

Again another great video adventure! Keep up the good work. I would love to do the same trip. Unfortunately, most of my friends are van lifers, need to get some 4 wheelers just to be safe for sure.

Super flow MV50 air compressor. O Reilly's, or Amazon. Does a really good job and comes with a zippered storage bag for the compressor and hose.
