Excellent video the 2nd time around discussing how important the rise is. Spraying down on gravel and why was great to watch. It's amazing how many purchase the $50 per sheet 2" rigid board and then walk on it and crack it. Our customers have also praised how quiet their house is now that we sprayed 3" in the walls-2lb. Foam. Loud trucks going by their newly remodeled farm house are no longer heard! 2lb foam wins again!!
I would agree its not just about R value but rather air sealing and as a bonus a poor heat exchanger that makes spray foam so effective. Ofc closed cell also has superior structural benefits.
Love your videos. Right to the point. Whish I would have found u years ago. Just wonder though, what are you use for your air barrier caulking? Brand, caulking gun, tub/bucket? Asking for a friend, lol.
If you blow closed cell foam over a rock under lament and a concrete slab over the foam will it seal the Radon into the ground?
Yes, That is radon air seal.

As I wait for better weather to spray my entire new house, I have a question about pushing pressure you mentioned here. I have a few places on my walls where there is an 1/8th inch gap between the sheathing and the 2x8 studs, either along the wall, or at the bottom plate. When spraying foam will definitely get into that space... But will it try to push the sheathing out, or will it push against itself first while it cures? I'm wondering if I should caulk those bigger seams to prevent foam from entering in the first place, or just leave it and have foam enter, but since it's only covered from 5 of the 6 sides... It would push back onto itself, out the same way it entered.
If the sheet is well fastened it isn't going anywhere.

@@davidzimmerman9841 thanks for the info, unfortunately no longer possible as the building has been house wrapped and most of the exterior siding installed. The siding was nailed into the studs, so all those nails are also holding the sheathing to the 2x8s. Should be okay. Will verify with my spray guy, I am sure he would call it out if it was a concern
Nothing wrong with spray foam if the surface is prepared (and dry) it will adhere. It is also very green - polymers typically come from corn/soy beans, I.e. Renewable. Just needs to be installed correctly.
Had my basement sprayed and it’s warmer than the main floor.
