    ... Valfar ... You wrote such great songs in a so short time ... Nothing more to say, just SognaMetal is (was) great ... RIP Valfar ... (I am from France and a great "68 years old now" fan for such a long time ... ) ...

    Windir has no bad songs at all. Everyone one of their albums is phenomenal. Instead of just doing specific songs I suggest going through the entire discography to get a full picture of the talent. Valfar was an amazing composer who sadly passed away in a blizzard. They made 4 full albums and Valfar has 2 demos he did as a teen. The first demo was made when he was 17 I think. If you listen to it keep in mind it's very raw and when he was just coming into his talent.

      Agree. But Valfar made his 2 first demo albums as 15 years old teen. "Sogneriket" released at 1994, and "Det gamle riket" at 1995. He knew HOW HUMAN SOUL SINGING WHEN WE FEEL SORROW, OR PROUD, OR PAIN. He just knew it. That`s why this music comes directly to your heart. And it`s very good instrumental music too. not only blackmetal. But it is blackmetal of the best kind too.....

    One of the most important albums to me. So cool to see someone appreciating it for the first time.

      Thank you for making it. I've been trying to find Windir reactions but there so few. More people need to hear this group, Valfars music should be in every metal heads album collection

    P.S. In this song you can feel the deep dales and huge high mountains of Sogndal, you can feel every heavy step of troll on the ground, and you can feel irony from Valfar towards trolls wich were running to the hills with a dead body.... I understand your feelings

    Anny one know the storry about Windir? One of the best early Norwegian black metal bands. The composer/vocalist that starte
    the band, called Valfar, died of freezing to death in a blizzard, when he was walking to his cabin in the Norwegian woods. RIP Valfar, gone but not forgotten

      The only thing that would make his death more black metal is if wolves ate his corpse. So sad he died so young, we lost one of the greats. We'll always remember and his music will never die

    The fairytale about Lundamyri Trodlet is an old story from Sogndal, and it is not any sad actually. It is a story about troll who scared people and then was killed by the brave man from farm Bjedle (actually Terjes forebears comes from Bjedle farm, Bjedle farm was part of Kvåle farm i old days) And troll was screaming and died, and then many trolls from mountains came and took the body of their "grandfather". This song is maybe little bit sad as everything in norwegian culture.. It`s just sad and beautiful at the same time.

      Yeah its weird why he would say its sad. Probably because he didnt see the cover art of the album

      @@Robobotic Ohhhohohoh hæ??) 1. I am a woman. 2. I have seen all albums by Windir IN DETAILS - and even more) 3. Norwegian metal music is ALL about sad history, about darkness and death. You can read more about battle 1184 and Arntor. Take care)

    Also if you're still reading the comments you should check out Austere Just for a Moment. It's a dsbm band and that song is mostly clean vocals. He has a haunting suffering scream that's just amazing. The song is the best way to ease into dsbm as it can be a raw and jarring genre to get into.

    • @playagain963

      Haunting screams to me are the most emotional, to me anyway

    • @atheist101
      @atheist101 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@playagain963 Then you'll love Austere. On the same album is a song called This Dreadful Emptiness and its one of their best. His screams truly sound like he wants to die and so full of raw emotion. That song saved my life when I was very depressed and didn't want to live anymore. It made me think about what I was doing and the song suffered for me

    Wow! I wasn't expecting a Windir reaction here but thank you so much for sharing this special band. I highly recommend their song Journey to the end. Here is a edited version of the song that includes lyrics and a mini documentary about the band and its history: th-cam.com/video/XlSF8Tg_iGA/w-d-xo.html
    I do not care if you react to it but I want you to listen to it. Oh and i'm loving the Ayreon reactions too bud. Stay safe and happy.
