That quiet minor chord at 2:18 hits so hard. Previously even the sadder lyrics (sometimes I wish my mother hadn't left // sometimes I want to scream) occur within the framework of that same major progression, but then it finally becomes too much and switches to a more driving, more minor bridge section that she has to push through in order to make it "back home", both lyrically and musically. Wonderful!
God Keyleth broke my heart in the first campaign. So much on her shoulders, and her love taken from her. I cried when she got her mom back. Felt like everyone else got the ending they deserved, but not her. Not until the Nein brought her mom home. You did an amazing job as always! I'm so excited to see all of the other ones!

This line is so heartbreakingly beautiful and gets me choked up every time! Your lines are all poetry but this one truly speaks to the pain Keyleth experienced. She overcame her heartache and feeling like an imposter in her role not because she was forced to but because she could feel that she could do it in her soul. Maybe it's her mom calling? Her people? Nature itself? Vax? All of them? Whatever it was, it told her she could do it and she did. Not sure if that's what you were going for but that's how your words make me feel haha. I've sung this song a hundred times and can never fully get through that line. Thank you for the emotions

There's so much I love about this that I feel like it's impossible to even try to articulate. It's so much more than a song. It's a story and dancing words and it's all so perfect. I loved Keyleth and I adored Vax because I felt like they were the ones I related to the most and this, I feel like I could share this with someone who never saw campaign 1 and they would completely understand who Keyleth was as a person and the journey she went through. The energy in the strumming and the subtle note changes after "I thought we had more time", the way you can feel her age and grow and hurt and become a leader, it's so beautiful. I don't know how you do this but I love the way your brain creates.
I'm not in the critical role fandom, but my best friend is. My knowledge of the campaign is extremely rudimentary at best-- but all that is to say that from a completely unknown, outside perspective this holds up as not just an amazing fandom song, but an amazing song, period. It tells a complete story so well that I don't feel at all lost or like I'm missing any context, and the melody and emotion in your voice are absolutely incredible. I keep coming back to listen and cry to this song despite not knowing anything about the character it's about.

I really liked the "but I can walk just fine" line - Keyleth gets so much hate for not being played the way people want her to be and a lot of her really clever moments get overlooked. Her character arc is one of my favorites, especially because in any nerd related communities a lot of women get told how to 'play right' even though they can walk just fine!

Keyleth is my favourite from Campaign 1, so this obviously was the first I had to learn! (Also the first of your songs I heard and cried over coincidentally) I played this at open mic at work which was really cool! I'm so glad you're back! This is just beautiful! I think the ones I'm looking forward to the most is Pike and Grog. And Scanlan. And Percy. And Vax. And Vex. And Terry. And Gilmore. And Doty. Oh gods it would be great to have a song just for Doty.. All three versions! And maybe one for Lionel and his ducks. Maybe a song for each NPC they ever encountered. Well maybe not that much. Maybe just Alura and Kima. I'm being facetious but even if you did make all of those songs I'd still like them all because you have a voice that would make a certain Goddess give back one of her newly acquired champions. 😄
I love how this captures the hopefulness of Keyleth but also the weight she bears and how tragic it is since as an archdruid she will outlive most of Vox Machina by close to a millennium and how it does pain her. Amazing job can't wait for the rest

this whole song is incredible but the part i keep coming back to is the "sometimes i hear the wind speak/ i was born to/ pick up the mantle..." the way the phrasing links those lines so "i was born to" works as both the ending and beginning of the lines around it... perfection. chef's kiss. absolutely stellar, lilli! very excited to see what beautiful songs you have next for us! thank you for sharing your gift

I've only started watching campaign 1 after the Mighty Nein's journey ended, so I'm not that far into the story yet. I generally know what will happen though, so this made me cry regardless.

So to make it simple: I never would have thought that the theme for Keyleth would be sth with footing. But oh it fits so well and it gave her so much more dimension 😭 oh I miss her!

I've been watching all the VM songs you've done so far and you've managed to capture each character's essence so incredibly well in every aspect of each song, from the melody down to the lyrics and the way you deliver them. Even the tempo in this one just feels so much like Keyleth and I love how you used that to show her character growth overtime. The emotion really comes through. I'm floored. I can't wait to see the rest!
I really liked the "but I can walk just fine" line - Keyleth gets so much hate for not being played the way people want her to be and a lot of her really clever moments get overlooked. Her character arc is one of my favorites, especially because in any nerd related communities a lot of women get told how to 'play right' even though they can walk just fine!

Keyleth is my favourite from Campaign 1, so this obviously was the first I had to learn! (Also the first of your songs I heard and cried over coincidentally) I played this at open mic at work which was really cool! It’s a credit to you how well this stuck in my head, I got through this song fine on memory alone but I had to bail on the one I had sheet music for!
This captures Keyleth's journey so beautifully. Both her growth & her emotional arc intertwined & I especially love how the end captures her bittersweet calm
I love the inclusion of Kerreck into this song! His letter to Keyleth will always be a favorite moment of mine, in all of the campaigns!
This song is so good, not only for the fact that it captures keyleths story so well, but it resonates with everyone to some degree. We’re all learning how to live through this unfortunate time in our lives and some of us have experienced some terrible losses in the past few years (I thought we had more time).
