Simon & Garfunkel were both there. Simon sings with Garfield when they sing about See how they shine etc Then Garfunkel finishes the song by himself again. Listen you can hear them harmonize.
Every time I watch this live performance, I want to get out of my seat and jump up and down, and I get teary. He made it look so easy, too. The lyrics are positively beautiful! Kudos to the requester!!! I'm happy you got to see it, Shawn!!
I love watching this every so often. Art has such a beautiful voice! I’ve seen him perform this song live and it’s an amazing experience to put it lightly. Thanks to the person who gave this as a donation request! And of course thank you Shawn!
I love this song, and I love this recording of this song, performed a dozen years after the original recording. And, I really love when he finishes it up, steps back and pumps his fist. He knew he absolutely killed it. I've always wished I could know I did something so well and so thoroughly that I'd feel that way about it. Fantastic reaction, I enjoy watching you feel these songs. And, yah, it hits me just that hard, every time I watch and listen to it.
The Bridge Over Troubled Waters album (1970) was S&Gs final studio album prior to their breakup. The album won 6 Grammy Awards & sold over 25 million albums worldwide. The S&G Concert at Central Park was a free 1981 reunion concert, the duo performed for their hometown NY fans. Simon's prolific songwriting skills & Garfunkel's smooth, moving delivery make this one of the best solo music performances in the history of music. S&G took this reunion tour concert cross country after NYC. I was fortunate to attend this reunion concert when S&G performed in my hometown. I witnessed this same performance of Bridge by Art, wearing the same iconic blue jeans & vest outfit. My concert was sold out in an MLB stadium, with 50,000+ in attendance. Every time I hear Art perform this song, I ALWAYS get goosebumps & feel my eyes water. S&G are true music legends of the 60s era. I really enjoyed your reaction. Thank you, Shawn! 👍
Notice the control he has in his voice as he goes from chest voice to throat and then head but never goes into falsetto, He just really belts outs the last notes. He was fabulous in person as the whole hall was silent for him.
There ya go Shawn...a vocalist with a real voice.... Art Garfunkel with one of the best tunes ever. This was such fantastic 1981 show at Central in NYC. Beautiful reaction...🎤🎶👍
I was in Boston at time of this concert, which my lady and I had thought to go to, either that or go camping in the mountains of New Hampshire. I will not be the first time I made the wrong decision. Thanks for rubbing it in! :) Kidding. It was a romantic weekend at any rate. I've still never seen the gents. Thanks y'all for this American treasure.
If you are lucky enough to have someone in your life who is that bridge for you, this song will always be an anthem to that friend. And, if Art Garfunkel had never sung another song, he'd be remembered for this performance forever.
My dad didn't listen to the same music I listened to back when this song came out but this was the exception. It became his favorite song after hearing me play the record. It still reminds me of him.
I always heard that the sound was very poor in the crowd, but obviously the audio was connected to the soundboard for the concert recording so it wouid not have affected that.
Tears still form whenever I hear/see this song. And I can remember when it first came out! Paul is an incredibly talented writer and I love his intelligent lyrics and his sense of rhythm. But Art's voice is simply angelic and moving. Thanks for bringing this... I don't know where that 1/2 million figure came from? It was about 10,000 from most estimates. Not sure Central Park could hold much more.
Richard Tee was one of the greatest, indeed. If you haven't already seen it, try to find the clip of Richard and Steve Gadd playing Gershwin's, "Rhapsody in Blue". It's mind-blowing.
I am old enough to have seen Simon and Garfunkel in concert. They sounded just as good live as their recordings. When they broke up, I bought most of their solo albums. I particularly liked Art Garfunkel's "99 Miles From L.A." Hope you can check it out. Such a soothing voice!
Art Garfunkel always had that smooth choir boy vocal that could make a song sound like a religious experience.'For Emily, Wher Ever I May Find Her' is another one of those songs. Thanks for the request and the music. Excellent commentary, heartfelt and profound.
500,000 fans in the audience and Art, stood there with his hands in his pockets and held them in the palm of his hand. To silence a crowd that large, with just his voice, tells the tale.
❤ I lost my oldest sister 6 years ago and I miss her like crazy. This was one of her favorite songs. I always crank it up, and yes, I always cry ❤. I do prefer the studio version. But I appreciate hearing this one too.
It was a full Simon and Garfunkel concert. Simon just left to allow Art to perform this song he sings solo.
If you don’t have chills you are dead.
True.
Hands in his pockets, looking around and belting out a true American classic. How casual can you be. Love this.
I've not seen anyone not be moved by this performance.
Artie had lungs made out of clouds....
Art is an Angel. He sings like an Angel. My favorite song.

When music was real
Definitely for sure...👍
And feelings too
And singing was real too - no autotune
Art Garfunkel rightfully described as the voice of an angel ❤
I have always adored Simon and Garfunkle and this song. I loved your great reaction, you understand the beauty of it.

That fist pump at the end is Art saying: "Yeah, I know. I nailed it"

"For Emily where ever I may find her" sung by Art is also soooo beautiful!!
Nobody can sing it like Art. This version is one of the Best ❤️❤️❤️
Or, the best, even.
Notice the control he has in his voice as he goes from chest voice to throat and then head but never goes into falsetto, He just really belts outs the last notes. He was fabulous in person as the whole hall was silent for him.

This was a great concert. I had the album and practically wore it out.
Same here. A friend gave me a copy for doing a book report for him in high school. I wore it out, as well.
And also same...beautiful album with beautiful music...🎤🎶👍
One of the best live concert videos!! All the songs are done to perfection.

I was there. Very far from the stage but it was still a very special day for me.
Obviously must've just special...definitely great time by all..👍🎤

I love his voice so much
The fabulous Richard Tee on piano/keyboards.
RIP Richard.

One of my all time favorites. When things get rough this song always soothes me. Such perfection, such powerful lyrics.
The Real version of this song! Art is angelic!
Sound of Silence from this same concert is also the all time, hands down, definitive version of the song, with everyone else competing for 2nd place.
You are absolutely right!
Art Garfunkel always had that smooth choir boy vocal that could make a song sound like a religious experience.'For Emily, Wher Ever I May Find Her' is another one of those songs.
Thanks for the request and the music. Excellent commentary, heartfelt and profound.
I can't even imagine how many times I've listened to this song for more than 55 years now and it hits me like that every single time❤
This version brings tear to my eyes.

Wow ❤
This is just an epic classical song that will live forever.
Chills and tears from me every day even still
♥️♥️♥️♥️

It's something that there he was 2 months from 40. Now in 2024 he's 4 months from 83.
I saw them do this live in 1993 at Neil Young’s Bridge School Annual Benefit. Was breathtaking, out under the stars❤
You should react to The Sound of Silence from the same concert live
Try his solo, THANKFUL, THANKFUL and
THAT'S ALL I KNOW!❤
Lovd uour reaction to one of the most beautiful songs ever written ty
That was so beautiful! I haven't seen this in a while, so thank you.
Amazing voice. Art also has a song from his solo career called 'All I know' that i think you'd like.
Paul & Art do the Sound of Silence & The Boxer at this concert too.
Art's cover of I Only Have Eyes for You is gorgeous. First, listen to the original Flamingos.
Great song, the studio version is stunning.
❤❤❤
This version is good but you need to listen to the studio version. I'm missing Paul Simon's harmony vocals in this one.
Art doesn’t get near enough credit for his voice.
This is really about New York or Boston
El Condor Pasa
Great song....You should check out and react to Elvis covering this!!! ❤
Live in Vegas 1970
