Prague to Vienna on a bike tour, with lots of urban exploration at either end. Btw, the long underwear (landsend or llbean) can double as workout wear or pjs in a pinch.
I like the 5-4-3-2-1 method, but I lean toward 7/3/2. Seven tops, three bottoms, two shoes/layering pieces. Twenty-one outfits before you even add in the layering pieces. This carries me for a three week trip, and more. I just plan for laundry while I travel. Shoes are the hardest part for me. Also, I cheat. I don't count the outfit I travel in. Naughty, I know. Plus, I'm always cold on the plane so I wear many layers. I hope you have a great time. Both London and Copenhagen are fabulous cities.
I'm also a fan of more tops and fewer bottoms. Four pairs of dark coloured pants are going to feel very similar to each other and with only a small selection of tops, I'm going to feel like I'm wearing the same thing every day. A greater number of tops with fewer bottoms feels like more variety to me. Same goes for layering pieces. If it's cold and you've only got two, then you're essentially choosing from one of two outfits every day of your trip.
For winter travel to Europe for 2 weeks, I wore my boots on the plane and packed one pair of comfortable black shoes that go with anything. I never pack more than 1 pair of shoes. People go overboard with footwear. I also found that wearing one heavy sweater over the lighter one on the plane was a real packing space saver.
Just a tip, never put your passport in your carry on suitcase. If you gate check it and forget things could get interesting upon arrival in another country. There’s also recently been an increase in, in flight thefts. Valuables should be kept in your personal item as thefts happen while you’re sleeping and opportunists can take your bag if you put it in the overhead bin away from your actual seat, which happens a lot more often than you think. Love your packing tips for different climates and vibes, safe travels😊
And don't forget to take a photo of the key pages in the passport if you need (heaven forbid!) to work with the consulate if it gets stolen. Happened to a friend while in transit.
@@MaryMackenzie-x2x oh yes, always have copies of IDs and passports and i have a strictly back up CC in case i lose my wallet (which has happened to me).
I really love your method of packing, and I use the exact same folding methods for my clothes. However, I never pack more than 2-3 pairs of pants, even for a whole month abroad. I guess I just don't rotate that much between them when I'm away. And I don't pack that many socks & undies, I usually pack 4-5 pieces/pairs and a multipurpose, liquid travel detergent and wash them myself by hand so I can reuse them, because no matter where I'm staying or for how many nights, there's always a sink & water, and a pair of undies or socks always dries in time. :)
Carry on only is the best! It's always helpful to see how someone else breaks down what they pack and how they do it - the detail is great, thank you! Headed to Italy in May! ✈
I understand why ppl love and try to do "carry on only travel". I sometimes do that, too, if it's a business-related trip, and/or already visited the destination several times, or if I know the destination well, like REALLY well (and can communicate with locals without any problems). That means, if the travel doesn't fit these categories, I usually bring my check-in suitcase. I DO have two rules: 1. I pack some snacks (cuz you never know) & underwear for two nights along with the essentials in a carry-on. 2. I don't pack more than I can carry by myself. Also, when I worked as a tour guide, I avoided bringing Jeans, because jeans are casual (not versatile) and heavy (it took ages to dry them).
Some London recs - Spaniards Inn pub for a roast dinner, walk on Hampstead heath, dishoom for breakfast/brunch (egg&bacon naan) coal drops yard for pottering/weekend market x
Great video - has me reconsidering cubes. For cooler weather, I find silk long underwear is a great addition as it takes up very little space and can make a big difference if it’s cooler than you anticipate.
Years ago I went to London for six days and then a month in Egypt. This was in February. Obviously, the weather would be quite different. I found this thin, yet effective, long underwear with a matching t-shirt., and added a cardigan. These items allowed me to bring a lighter wardrobe and jacket. There was a colder day in Cairo, so it worked out.
I just returned from 7 days in London, carryon only. I packed 3 pairs of jeans and 6 sweaters no problem. However, departing Heathrow for the US: you cannot use the TSA liquids bag you use. I use the same one from Amazon . Everything must go in a quart ziplock which they hand out at the airport if you don’t have one. And there are tables you can change your stuff to the ziplock bag - and a lot of people have to do it. Just good to be aware ahead of time.
I swear by carry-on as well. Also while you're in Copenhagen be sure to take the train over to Malmö, Sweden. It's a lovely little city with a cute old city center and some lovely second hand shops. I'm a Canadian from Toronto currently living there :)
Just found you and in perfect timing! After getting married in June of this year we are headed to Italy and Greece and I have been trying to find the best packing method and this seems like it can fully encompass everything I need with enough variety!
I've found that a secret zipper infinity scarf is perfect for passport, money, etc. You never leave those things in a place where they can be stolen. Shampoo and conditioner bars saves liquids space. As far as all the socks and underwear go, most places have laundry service. There's also the sink.Cuts down on taking too much.
✈️ I also travel with carry on only. My mom and I did 12 days in England with carry on luggage and we did just fine. Thanks for the inspo! I love packing videos. My next trip is back to England end of April!
🛩 Thanks for the packing list. I will be traveling this summer to visit my dad in Nebraska. Not the most or touristy place to be but, seeing my dad again after 7 years will be worth it. Take care and have fun.
I love watching these videos. I do a lot of budget traveling, so many times I’ll do personal item only (unless a carry one comes with my ticket). My personal item backpack expands to carry on size.
The one thing i don't understand is; how do people shop when bringing a cary on only? I always end up doing checked in luggage so I don't have to worry about space 😅(also, I like having only one bag to worry about while on the airport/plane)
I live in the UK currently, shortly I’ll be travelling Poland and Italy, and luggage here is tricky part. Most of cheap Europe airlines let you take only one bag in size 20x25x40 cm in price of ticket, any additional luggage is paid and sometimes costs more than whole ticket and place 😅
How do you sort out the weight requirements? I find I’m mostly ok being a carry in only kind of traveler but what gets me is sometimes the bags ends up eating a good chunk of the weight allowance.
✈️✈️✈️ This video is great inspiration for my 8-day trip to Tokyo! I wanted to just have a carry-on, but I was worried if I'd be able to do it because, like you, I'll also need to bring warmer layers and maybe account for the rain. Seeing you pack for your 10-day trip in just a carry-on gives me reassurance that I can pack for my 8-day trip :') your suitcase seems to fit so much though. I have packing cubes, but my suitcase always seems to run out of room so easily...
Thanks for the reminder to check the weather at my destination. We’re headed to Argentina, Buenos Aires as well as Bariloche. I had thought the weather would be about the same for both places but there’s a significant difference between the two cities. And thanks for the packing list!✈️
Good tips! I'm next taking a tour to Austria, Switzerland, and Germany this summer. I remember the huge suitcases I took 40 years ago to Mexico and Europe. I travel so much lighter now, but I have a cpap, which is problematic. All you vloggers are so young and you don't need one yet. But that is going to be a problem for me. I really want to do carry on only with a backpack as we will have to be toting our own luggage. Videos such as yours and others' have helped me a lot.
Thanks for doing a video on colder weather! So many minimalist packing videos are on summer… like of course you can travel light when you’re only bringing swimsuits and athleisure 👀
Going for 30l backpack and 25l daypack both weigh 1 kg together unpacked of course. Where I go they will after bad experience in 2021... will be adapting at a disadvantage for longterm as would have to take 4 seasons and large stock of meds.
This is a weird question, but do you maybe have a video about your closet shelving? Or somewhere where it's featured? I'm struggling with a semi-walk-in (more like hole-in-a-wall) closet renovation and the glimpse I saw here looks like something I have in mind
Have you made a video about ethical/high-quality brands you use and would recommend investing in? I recently decided to update my wardrobe with higher quality/pricier pieces and im wondering which brands I should choose. I'm pretty new to this. ✈✈
✈️ yes!! Only carryon for me. My next trip is Copenhagen, Stockholm, Oslo and Bergen. Mid May!! Can’t wait! Love the tips!! 2 weeks in a carryon is doable. I also bring dehydrated laundry soap sheets and wash things in sinks when I need a refresh.
I was in Stockholm, Oslo and Bergen last May! I had the best time, I loved exploring and the overall vibe. I hope you booked the train from Oslo to Bergen because it was the highlight by far! 😊
I'm also a carry-on person. But I'm from a warm climate so my tolerance to cold is low😂I can't live without thermal wear, extra layering pieces and scarf if it's 10°C or lower. I’m surprised of how few pieces you need for this trip! As it’s almost impossible to be carry-on only when I travel to cold places.
If you're working out, where are the workout outfits? Unless you're working out in jeans and t-shirts? And are you packing your mascara and lip gloss in your makeup bag and not your liquids bag? That's a bold move for the UK. They are usually the most strict with liquids. If it's going to be rainy, would you carry and umbrella? Or is the wool coat enough for you to get by? So many questions...
I'm in the Midwest so no stranger to cold but I would definitely need long sleeve tops and leggings or tights to layer under jeans for those temperatures. Also, I wash my underwear so I'm not carrying around so many pairs. 4-5 is good for any length of a trip. And keeping it to 2 pairs of shoes makes a big difference.
Tip: grab a tsa 1 L bag for liquids. I travelled all over Europe packed in a clear bag like you did but when I came back to North America they insisted liquids be in their bag. To my annoyance they didn’t quite fit and I had to dispose of some items. Also make sure your personal item fits under the seat. I bought a Beis 20” carryon and weekender bag and some airlines were sticky (Westjet) and made me check one item. As most people are travelling with carryons now space is at a premium and I think more airlines will be stickier on size and details. Hope this helps someone avoid these hassles and disappointments on their journey.
Great video, thank you! I would have loved to see footage of how exactly you fit the blazer and the sweater in the same compartment as all the other clothes.
Timely video! Heading to Spain and Portugal for two weeks with carry-on and backpack only. For bottoms, I'm bringing 1-2 denim shorts (no jeans bc they're heavy), 2 pairs of leggings, cotton wide leg trousers, and only the shoes on my feet. I usually do laundry when I travel bc I don't like bringing back a lot of dirty clothes.
I would suggest thinking about a second pair of shoes… when I went to France, I did way more walking than I expected.. I mean way more. And waking up in the morning being faced with the same pair of shoes that destroyed my feet the day before was so demoralising.. I had to break down and buy another pair.. so I could alternate days and give my feet a rest.
This was very helpful, I’m off to London from Montreal, May 6 for 9 days. I’m only taking carry on luggage. You putting your puffer vest in there reminded me I have one with a hood. Did you carry an umbrella in your purse everyday? Or did you where a raincoat? I have a trench-coat I can bring. Getting ready to travel is so exciting! Thank you ❤
Nicely done! I'm finishing a 10 day trip in Costa rica with carry on only. Biggest challenge is always the liquids quart bag in the UK. Many of your liquid/cream makeup products should go in that bag and the UK often doesn't allow that amazon bag, only a quart size bag! 😞
Perfect timing to see this video I’m heading to London in two weeks. Great tips.. I love London it’s the best! We will also be traveling out to the countryside. Thank for such a great video!
Thanks Christina! I used to travel so much and have always been an over packer, not to mention the anxiety packing would cause! I have kids though so I would probably have to add a Tide to go pen 😂
✈️✈️✈️ I never travel anywhere but if I'm to travel from city to city, I tend to over pack and never get to wear half of what I brought with me. I've been trying to figure out how to pack lightly. I'm glad I came across this video, and you talked about the 5,4,3,2,1 packing method. I'll be incorporating that into my next travel packing. Thank you :-)
No. In Europe maxx 19x15x6 for hand luggage. They often have you fit your luggage in a measuring rack. If it not fits, you have to check it in as luggage proper. At a hefty premium. Her personal item is the size of the typical hand luggage.
Cool. But personally, I am reluctant to rely on luck. Anyone traveling with European carriers should check the luggage size recommendations. They are pretty restricted.
@@Nonakle1 I totally agree with you. I stick to their measurements religiously. Sometimes the ground staff are accommodating and let you get away with it, but most of the time they will charge you a hefty fee for having a piece of luggage that is oversized.
im looking for something even more minimal as i need to pack for two weeks in luggage size of your smaller backpack but i apreciate ypur video and style
✈️✈️✈️ this is perfect timing for my Florida trip I’m currently over packing for 😂 I’m definitely going to try the 54321 method! I used it last time I traveled and it helped a lot, but also I was super stressed because of those “just in case” feelings. I’m hoping as I do this method again it’ll be easier this time! 🤞🏼🤞🏼
Traveling from US to Istanbul, Prague, Budapest for 4 weeks carry-on only. Your video is most helpful. Also packing a 2gal ziploc and detergent sheets for laundry. Do you not have any concerns for weight/airline restrictions? I’m taking my macbook for work and already worried I’ll be forced to check a bag! 🫣
Good job. Reminder, in the US all those little toiletry liquids (and toothpaste, etc) have to be packed in a 1 quart bag for carry-on. I don't know if the see-through zipper bag you're using qualifies here.
✈️✈️✈️ I am going to Athens, Greece, on Tuesday! I will travel with my handbag only. So tomorrow I am packning the suitcase my husband will bring when he is leaving Sunday. ✈️✈️✈️
Did you pack workout clothes also? Do you take one set and air/out sink wash in between workouts? I love carry on only and usually skip workouts while traveling because I haven’t figured this out yet. Would love suggestions.
✈ I am traveling to The Netherlands (Rotterdam, The Hague and Amsterdam) tomorrow (ahhhhh!) and I am doing backpack only traveling for 10 days. I am packing 6 tops (layers to keep warm) 2 pants and 2 pairs of shoes. Staying in hostels the whole time as this is a trial run for an extended backpacking trip I am planning for this time next year. Wish me luck!
✈️ I love traveling with a carry on only! But my next trip will be to Taiwan, my hometown where I plan to do quite a bit of shopping so I’ll be bringing one carry on, one expandable backpack from Beis, and one large check in. I’d love to try out monos luggage once I’m due for a new one 🎉
Packing light is also better for the environment. The airplane uses less fuel to lift your luggage off the ground. Love Monos. Canadian and sustainably made. Your liquids might be more accessible in your personal bag when going through security - sometimes they make you put it in the bin.
Hi. This was a great reminder. I’m off to Greece for 14 days in May and want to take a carry on. Really trying to get away from the just in case way of packing. Wish me luck. 😅
We are doing Europe (from Australia) in November. How much did your packed carry on weigh? From what i see, most airlines limit the weight to 7kg ( I suppose so its not yoo dangerous when put in the overheads)
Wondering if you can do a video upon your return. Review your outfits. What you wore and didn’t wear. Also, did you wish you had anything you didn’t pack
We’re moving out of our home and putting our stuff in storage and traveling by car and plane and visiting friends July-mid October. I am going to try your 5,4,3,2,1 method. Happy travels!
Have you traveled with that hair straightener before? In the past my flat iron did not work that well with a power converter. I am now shopping for dual voltage hair tools!
I'm a light traveler for many years. One of my rules is that items I take with should wash and dry quickly and easily (at least half of them). Now having two kids this is a must! Another rule is that I can carry everything by myself carrying a younger child and being able to control elder child. So, one suitcase, one carry-on bag and a backpack for three people. Nappies must fit too :-p
✈ Hello Christina, thank you for another great video! My next trip is a little ways off. I will be heading back home, to Toronto for our 5 weeks Summer Vacation ( I’m currently based in 🇬🇧). Keep up the great videos 👍
This is my favourite video from you to watch! This and anything you make that falls in the realm of ‘de-influencing’ as people have been dubbing it. I am naturally an overpacker, and I really want to become a carry-on gal only from now on for practicality (the amount of videos of lost luggages these days play a part too haha). But since I fly budget a lot, I’m curious - have you ever weighed your suitcase? Budget can sometimes be quite strict with the weight limit. Depending on where I’m going, that means I’m allowed 7kg - suitcases are often 3kg these days, my laptop is about 2kg, and that leaves me with only 2kg for personal stuff which as minimalist as I get, is just not enough unless I don’t take toiletries at all and buy them there (but then have to either give away or throw out what I don’t use - which is a bit wasteful). Working towards not having to fly budget as often this year though ✌🏼 Anyway sorry for a bit of a rant, but just wanted to know how much your suitcase usually weighs if you know 😊
Do you find your ganni boots comfortable for a lot of walking? I’m planning to get the same one :) are they light weight and waterproof? Thank you in advance. ❤❤❤
Learning a lot from you and other commentators. I don’t really travel but I would like to one day and see myself avoiding as much stress as possible so carry on is the wisest choice. And for sure blazers are like my armor.
Hi Christina, thanks for the video! I noticed you didn't pack any workout gear... traveling for me is always an excuse to derail my workouts and I don't want that to be the case anymore, so am committed to packing sports gear whenever I travel. Any tips?
My next trip is to Canada. Leaving the Arizona summer to spend May through September up north. I will need a lot more stuff, but this still gave me some good ideas on how to streamline my packing for 5 months. Thank you! Enjoy the UK and Europe!
✈️✈️ My next trip, St Lucia. Don't need to pack much for this trip. I plan on traveling to Singapore, Thailand & Vietnam next year. About 3 weeks. What would you say I must have for that trip?
Nice video… I would have loved to see how you wore your outfits day by day. Essentially you wore each pair of pants and shirts three to four times each?
Great video! I am currently struggling with the weight limitations with carrying on to Portugal (3week trip) in a couple weeks. Can you tell me what are the weights of your bags? I will need to adjust to 22# and 5# for carry on and p.item.
Copenhagen is one of my favorite cities in the world. We have a house in Sweden that’s an hour away. Pop over to Malmö via the Öresund bridge.. Train to Louisiana for a beautiful museum visit.

I'm also a carry-on person. But I'm from a warm climate so my tolerance to cold is low😂I can't live without thermal wear, extra layering pieces and scarf if it's 10°C or lower. I’m surprised of how few pieces you need for this trip! As it’s almost impossible to be carry-on only when I travel to cold places.
there's no mention of the weight of the carry-on once packed... is this a consideration? as most carriers allow 7 kg.
So organized! Enjoyed your video! ✈️
Question: where do you wash your clothes? Especially if i am walking around the whole day, i could never wear the same top twice without washing!
We washed in the air bnb and I may hit a laundromat in Copenhagen!
Heading to a yoga retreat in Mexico in 10 days. I'm looking forward to getting warm! ✈️ 🏝
THANK YOU! I am TERRIBLE at packing and am doing a 2 weeks trip to England very soon. This is really helpful.
@@rebeccacartier153 Thank you!
Great video!! I'd love to see how you'd style that vest, because I have no idea how you wear one of those without looking supremely unfashionable 😅
✈️✈️✈️ I’m going away for ten days to a cold country so this is really helpful 🙌🏻
Thanks Christina! I used to travel so much and have always been an over packer, not to mention the anxiety packing would cause! I have kids though so I would probably have to add a Tide to go pen 😂
✈️✈️✈️
I never travel anywhere but if I'm to travel from city to city, I tend to over pack and never get to wear half of what I brought with me. I've been trying to figure out how to pack lightly. I'm glad I came across this video, and you talked about the 5,4,3,2,1 packing method. I'll be incorporating that into my next travel packing. Thank you :-)
✈️✈️✈️ Next Trip? Copenhagen - but by car and ferry as I live in western-north part of Poland. Can't wait for the CPH vlog! Greets from Poland! ❤
How do you deal with the weight of the suitcase? Most airlines have restrictions on weight. Do you meet those when packing for 2 weeks?
No. In Europe maxx 19x15x6 for hand luggage. They often have you fit your luggage in a measuring rack. If it not fits, you have to check it in as luggage proper. At a hefty premium.
Her personal item is the size of the typical hand luggage.
I got on Ryan air just fine with it!
@@Christinamychasyou got lucky. I always see people being charged for oversized luggage at the last possible moment before boarding.
im looking for something even more minimal as i need to pack for two weeks in luggage size of your smaller backpack but i apreciate ypur video and style
I have a similar one and it's supposedly TSA compliant. It definitely fits in more products than the Ziploc baggie I used to use.
Thank you for sharing , 1 question i only wear dresses, no troussers or jeans so do I pack 5 dresses ?
✈️✈️✈️ so much travel coming up- Texas, Colorado, Utah, mass. Loved the video.
Love your laptop sticker! 💙💛✈
Very organized and efficient ! Would be nice to see a pop of colour with 1 extra top . Enjoy your trip!
Could you please link the little makeup bag you're using, it looks very compact and practical 😊
It's in the description or on my shop my!
@@Christinamychas thank you:)
It was around 10 kg 😅 but it got into the overhead - I might have to check it on my flight from London to Copenhagen tho it’s prob too heavy
I think I love your green active pants! ❤ They are perfect for travel. What size are you wearing in them?
Where are the chunky boots from ? 🥹💕✨
Any tips on how to stay calm during turbulence? 😊
This so good! Made everything clear and simple!!! You can always customize to your personal needs
Great video! ✈ Going to Italy this spring & will be using my Monos carryon Pro for the first time.
Wondering if you can do a video upon your return. Review your outfits. What you wore and didn’t wear. Also, did you wish you had anything you didn’t pack
Def!
✈✈ planning to travel to Atlanta later this spring for about a week, and I am excited to put the 5-4-3-2-1 method into practice then!
😊✈️✈️✈️could you add a link to the dressier navy trousers?
Working towards not having to fly budget as often this year though ✌🏼
Anyway sorry for a bit of a rant, but just wanted to know how much your suitcase usually weighs if you know 😊
Is there any weight restrictions with carry-on bags? Would love to attempt this for a 2 week trip to the US all the way from Australia!
Do you find your ganni boots comfortable for a lot of walking? I’m planning to get the same one :) are they light weight and waterproof? Thank you in advance. ❤❤❤
✈️✈️✈️ thanks for these tips.
My next 4 week long trip will be columbia with two different climate zones : Bogota, Cartagena snd Santa Marta😅
So helpful!!!! We do weekend trips a lot and I’ve been a massive over packer so this 54321 works great
How much does your carry on weigh? Our allowance is 7kg
Any tips?
I did pack it! Two leggings and two sports bras :)
I'm not convinced to take only a carry on🤔 I'm going Japan September for 2 weeks what do you recommend
My next trip is to Canada. Leaving the Arizona summer to spend May through September up north. I will need a lot more stuff, but this still gave me some good ideas on how to streamline my packing for 5 months. Thank you! Enjoy the UK and Europe!
Whereabouts in Canada will you be going? Escaping the dry heat for super humid heat 😂
Loved this video! I packed very similar for the trip I am currently on - spending a week in Italy. Home for me is the United States.
Safe travels! ✈️
Great video! I am currently struggling with the weight limitations with carrying on to Portugal (3week trip) in a couple weeks. Can you tell me what are the weights of your bags? I will need to adjust to 22# and 5# for carry on and p.item.
It was around 11 kg - I got on Ryan air no problem and YYZ, but had to check my bag with Iceland air on my way home. You win some you lose some!
Copenhagen is one of my favorite cities in the world. We have a house in Sweden that’s an hour away. Pop over to Malmö via the Öresund bridge.. Train to Louisiana for a beautiful museum visit.
I can’t wait!
Where are the Sunglasses from? I didn't see a link for those! Thanks!!
