  • We will take apart the drum brake on one side to correct the brake shoe placement to get everything in the proper place. The shoes had been installed incorrectly and it caused the car to veer off a bit under very hard braking. Then, we will finally get some new tires for the car and make sure everything fits under there!
    Dates of filming: March 26th, 2018 (Brake work)
    October 30th, 2017 (2x New Tires Installed (255/60r15))
    March 26th, 2018 (2x New Tires Installed (275/60r15))
    Song List (Order of First Appearance):
    0:01 To the Top - Silent Partner
    6:02 The Contractor General - Silent Partner

    Corner balancing can make a difference. If you imagine that the left of the car is 100kg heavier and you add braking to the equation then that’s a lot more that one caliper has to do over another. Which could cause locking up on one tire over another.

    "Spin A Tire"? Oooo...time will tell that now with the extra power you will perhaps be looking into an LSD? I can't live with a car that has an open diff anymore. Ever since I've owned a car with rear wheel and an Limited Slip Diff I just don't feel like things are right if it doesn't have that full control feeling. Awesome videos!

    JEGS has rear disc conversions that fit this car starting at $234

    I vote for getting some spray can Plastidip or Flexidip with gloss to freshen up those wheels! Awesome car!

      I was originally going to sandblast them and paint them, but like many other things since it is only cosmetic it is low on the priorities list now. Don't really have a plan for painting at the moment

    Car looks great! makes me miss my 79 formula..my only complaint is video was too short

      I won't disagree, which is why I made sure to get two videos uploaded today! I like the idea of splitting videos up into shorter ones with a connecting "theme", and having more episodes will hopefully help more people find these videos!

    Now was good time as any to swap rear end /drum to disc brake. Shouldn't be hard to find an almost direct bolt in.

      No they don't. 1st and 2nd gen f-bodies use leaf springs and 3rd and 4th gen use coil springs, completely different suspension. And on top of that, 3rd and 4th gen axles are the smaller/weaker 7.5/7.625" 10-bolt.

    What about getting two brake shoe kits and only putting the long pads in the car?

    • @jeepindave5464
      @jeepindave5464 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      VGAPR Garage that wouldn't work right. They are different for a reason. The front is the wedging shoe since the rotating force tries to open the shoe outwards. It brakes better than the rear which coast with the direction of rotation. The different lengths provide even braking between each shoe and equal wear over their life.

  • @hasbeengood

    Why do you have coils in the back as well as leaf springs?

    • @FuzzyDiceProjects
      @FuzzyDiceProjects  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      They are called "helper" shocks, they have coil springs on them to give a bit of extra lift/stiffness to old springs or overloaded vehicles. I got them when I had all the original springs on the car and hadn't planned on changing them out, they were the same price as normal shocks so I figured if they would help a bit that I'd just go for it. Now that all the springs have been replaced, I'm not sure they have much of a noticeable effect.

    • @alycestapleton
      @alycestapleton 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      hasbeengood what are you on about all vehicle that have a live axle rear end with leaf springs have , Normal coil springs if cars don’t have this then you’ll be bouncing around not to mention it would be dangerous when braking
