In the hundreds of videos available of Plushenko's competitive performances, exhibitions, galas, and any of the work he has done since he retired from competitive figure-skating, I don't believe that there is anything that comes close to matching THIS: I agree with you that he looks like an angel! And I believe we may well have SEEN an angel here in a literally otherworldly performance, in a sense: throughout, he is utterly relaxed, free of anxiety, he seems to be floating through the air an unusual distance in the jumps. He seems to be a spirit that has escaped the bounds of earthly existence as he executes an exquisitely-choreographed and well-rehearsed program apparently strictly from muscle memory. I have never seen anything like it in any of the figure skating I've seen in 50 years, regardless of the skater. I have wondered whether there was a second recording made of this performance, whether an official one or one by a fan in attendance, and whether Plushenko ever performed this program again--whether before or after this one. It appears to be an official record of the performance because of the overhead photography, but that wouldn't mean that there are not other videos out there somewhere made by fans who never uploaded them to the internet. And, as always, the persona we see immediately before and after the performance bears no obvious relation to the "angel" on the ice; in that respect, he brings to mind the great actor Laurence Olivier. I noticed that the French-speaking commentator identified the music as being from Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake," when it is "The Swan" from Saint Saëns' "The Swan" (from "Carnival of the Animals").

This is such a beautiful program. And he was so young. He's one of the most talented figure skaters out there no doubt.
Gosh this was some time ago - he's amazing ! Be awesome if he did an encore now ! Even without the big jumps it would be so beautiful .
