man I miss that train.i remember from an young kid i use to ride the orange line T train.and after i move to the islands in 1984.and when i cameo visit in 1997.the trains was gone and i told my uncle ohh man what happen to the trains he say they took them down.and I said wow had deep saddened and missed them.

Exactly how they demolished the Liverpool Overhead Railway in 1957 the daddy of them all which started it all off, sad to see it go, I didn't get chance to ride on it.

I'm sorry but I would have to disagree with you on that note,Though out our Chicago history they have torn down many of our EL's and finally parts of our green line which hurt my heart
Darkside Dragon, Your point is well taken. When CRT went under and CTA came into "receivership", so to speak, that's when "L" lines started disappearing, especially if they had low ridership volume. The Humbolt Park, Kenwood, and Union Stock Yard lines were among the first to get "axed" in the early to late 1950s, if I remember correctly. There were also sections of the West Side Metropolitan Elevated (now to Forest Park Blue Line that runs along the Eisenhower expressway median) that went much further west than they do at present, that were 'axed". As for the "Green" Line, I assume you're referring to the 63rd Street branch to Cottage Grove. That line used to go all the way to Stony Island. Then, it was the "Jackson Park "B" train" when I was growing up on the south side of Chicago. I used it all the time throughout the late 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s. And I still use it on occasion when I visit Chicago; I live in Arizona now.

It's a shame that Boston tore down their El. Philly had their Els rebuilt.
I mean it was probably for the best considering these things cause a lot of noise pollution, at least the trains can go faster underground.
