    One thing I should add about the E30 and a Large Mirrorless Core Unit, is that IMO it is a combo for a person who is mostly packing camera gear. This combo will limit extra space for 'adventure supplies'. That fact I drove around while doing small walks in the video lends to the idea that if I needed to be out all day with just the bag and same amount of camera gear... I'd take a bigger pack so I could bring more food, change of gloves, and layers. Others may have a different opinion/experience but just keep that in mind if your looking for this set up. It would be very hard for me to take this exact set up - self supported - into the mountains for a long day - summer or winter. Core Unit talk starts at 7:07.

      Thanks for answering my question on the E30 and large mirrorless core unit. This combo will be suitable for me as I am looking for a better bag to lug around my 4x5 camera setup. I can always swap to a smaller core unit should I need other supplies. Will put in my order soon! Watching your videos always make me miss Japan :)

      Hi Ian, do you have a date of availability for those new dividers? 😃 or it’s still at testing phase? 😁

      Thanks very much for showing the amount of room in the top pocket with the large mirrorless core unit. I'll be ordering the 30L with the large mirrorless core unit as it fits my Nikon Z7 with 70-200 attached better than the medium core unit and also allows me to have a 1.4 converter attached. I can use my Action X50 for winter/hiking trips when I need to take more personal gear, but the E30 will be perfect for other situations.

    If it's going to snow it may as well be measured in meters or feet. That truck is impressive in the deep stuff.

      Thank you, I'm lucky with the two trees. We see it everyday the weather let's us. It's the view from the back our house and we get to see it in so many different versions... It always looks photogenic no matter the conditions. :)

    I don't have the large core unit, but I did use my E30v2 under heavy snow last xmas. It protects my gears and baby diapers and keep them all dry all day. Thanks Ian! This is a very practical back pack👍

    Just got my action x 30 about one week ago, wich i actually use as a colledge combined with gymbag at the same time, and im in love.
    I have not seen one single review wich talks about this as nothing other than a camerabag (wich is understandable bacause thats what it is) but i have seen other camerabags where they talk about edc (not many tho).
    But i have to say i really like to use this for school, and when i need to go to the gym i just use the extra 7L in the rolltop for my clothes.
    I REALLY like the zipper (on the outside bottom of the rolltop) so you can acsess the main compartment from the top instead of having to lay in on the front to use the back acsess or having to stick your arm all the way down the rolltop.
    AMAZING backpack for, fotografy, the office, hiking, grocary shopping, biking here in Norway with its harsh weather.
    Dont remember how to spell some of the last words so🤷🏼‍♂️

      At the end of the day it's a bag that can carry anything that will fit. And a good harness will make it all that much more enjoyable. Nice to hear you are getting so much range out it. Appreciate the comment. Ian

  • @dakilen

    Thanks for the great video! I just ordered the E30 V2 and large mirrorless core unit, so it was very informative! I also shoot Fujifilm and use some of the same lenses, so it was good to see how they fit in the bag. I also have the XF 150-600, and I was hoping that it would fit unmounted in the top portion of the core unit (side to side), but I don’t think that’s going to be the case. I have seen a TH-cam video where someone had a Sony A7 with a mounted 200-600 sitting top to bottom in the core unit, so that will probably be how I’ll have to configure it. I don’t carry the 150-600 with me all the time, otherwise I would go with a larger bag and core unit. Another option would be to find a bag that would fit just the 150-600 mounted on my X-H2s, and use that when I’m out birding. Great video, I can’t wait till the E30 V2 gets delivered!!!

    Amazing! I live in northern Ontario Canada and you have like 15 times the amount of snow we do hahaha. What elevation is this at? Amazing photos!! And I absolutely adore my explorer 30 V2!!! Absolutely game changing bag. Great work! I totally gotta get the small dslr to put above my medium core unit. Great vid 👍👍

      Hi, Nakatsuchi is about 470m, Otari is 650-ish and Hakuba (and where my house is) is about 700. I had never thought about it before but there was (and usually is) more snow at the lower elevations, I would have assumed opposite for the lower elevations. also... being from Ontario I had to look up the annual snowfalls for Northern Ontario and it appears we get about 3.5 times the amount of annual snowfall. But not sure how accurate the source was. I feel like Ontario always had a lot of snow but it never stacked up like it does out here. Just a lot of bad driving conditions :) Thanks for the compliments! Ian

    man how did you not get stuck driving around in that snow! I have a new found respect for those K-Cars!

    • @ShimodaDesigns
      @ShimodaDesigns  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are honestly the best car for dealing with weather, slop and just being an outdoor person. They have small and narrow tires. Although I did have a snowmobile in the back adding another 500lbs to add to the traction in this video. It was buried in snow :) with that said, I've never got it stuck in the snow with our without the sled.

  • @AnthonyDiPalma
    @AnthonyDiPalma 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great video! Thank you for posting. What kind of gloves are wearing? Your truck looks like it does well in the snow. What kind is it?

    • @ShimodaDesigns
      @ShimodaDesigns  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The gloves I had on are just dollars store touch gloves. I usually wear these as liners in my mitts. They are cheap and made from synthetic so they dry really fast, it's hard to get them wet. Also even though I did not have on actual proper mitts, when I do wear them as liners it keeps the mitts from getting wet inside. Which is huge when your out all day in the cold. The car is a Suzuki Carry Kei truck. 660cc, lightweight, 4wd and fuel efficient truck. I had a snowmobile in the back so it may have had a little more traction than empty. Overall it's a great driver in all conditions.

    The moment you drive through snow and it looks like it's like at 2/5 the height of your car 🙀 without much visibility. You don't have to go to such length to sell your gear 🤣.
