    One can also think about buying second hand. For the same money as new, you have a much better system.

      You can mix and match. If a dealer had in his/her trade in stock say a P6 then being able to stretch your source components level of performance by purchase that with a warrenty would pay dividends.
      Doesn't alter the basic rightness of what is being suggested for this scenario.

    Going from my personal experience, I suspect that these sort of recommended systems may work well for source and amplification, but speakers are another story. No only because different people like different sound, but because of the need to match room to speaker. For example, I have a pair of Dali Oberon 5s which Phil mentions here as a good but slightly out of budget alternative to the AE 109s, and in my normal listening room they sound very good. But I have experimented moving the whole system into a larger room (nearer to the size Phil mentions here) and they sounded very thin, and it quickly went back to the original room!

    Go Elex Mark 4 with built in MM phono stage and a decent DAC for digital source upgrade. New Elex works lovely with P2/3/6…this is the best path at this level imo.

    You have thought things through very well here, not surprising given your experience I suppose, and this should give customers confidence.
    Enjoying this series.

    Vinyl is really not budget. DACs much more bang for the buck and sounds much better nowadays in the budget category, vinyl takes a life of its own with better tables and expensive carteidges. Thats not budget territory. Easier to use tubes on Dacs ie preamp/amp and high efficiency speakers.

    • @kristofvadnai7468
      @kristofvadnai7468 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Not true. My P2 with Goldring E3 and tube phono stage easily sounds as good as my more expensive and very good digital front end. Depends on the record too.

    • @francisdelacruz6439
      @francisdelacruz6439 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @kristofvadnai7468 You may really like the analog sound but vinyl at the high end is closer to digital you get a black background and little pops scratches if any with dynamics with all the benefits of analog. Great you can fully appreciate budget gear. In my case I find vinyl distortions too glaring in the budget gear. Try tube pre and amps with good Dacs you will find it also nice plus you have the convenience of streaming all the music you could think of! If your on a budget vinyl is also expensive to buy all those records but personally I find vinyl better but appreciate Dacs with tubes in the system acceptable even budget Dacs in a high resolution high end system. Cheers.

    Phil, bigger speakers need less amplification. Schoolboy error

    If one isnt familiar with the product brand/ model names, its very difficult to figure them out here. (i understand everything else you say except the names.) Would be very helpful if you wrote the names in the description.

    Simple Vinyl system. Takes me back to Oct 1986 as a student when I invested my Summer job money on a system from Sevenoaks HiFi. Dual CS505-2 Deluxe, Rotel RA820BX, AR18BX. Later on the first upgrade I made was to swap out the Ortofon cartridge for a Goldring G1010, made a huge difference not bettered until I bought Royd Minstrels. Always chasing the next upgrade!

    Hi Phil nice vid. when I was looking at a stereo system for the front room (UK) I tried a couple of what were very well regarded floorstanders but they just overwhelmed the room so tested some bookshelf speakers and ended up with a pair of Quad's sounded great. So would always recomend someone tested at home before jumping in thinking biggest is best. Keep the vid's coming

    Would be nice if you linked the components in a “more” drop menu as I have no clue what speakers you picked.
    I won’t make any suggestions as I am in the U.S. and I don’t know what brands you sell.
    Always up for picking a cost point number and reverse engineering a system video.

    £2500. ???? I haven't got that kinda money! I have B&W 685's, Rega Planer one with stock cartridge, projekt pre amp and Suqiya amp(supposedly based on Naim tech)
    It sounds ok but pretty sure that my system of 35 years ago sounded better (budget technics amp, Sony ps11 TT and AR 18bx's)
    I'm wondering how much I'm imagining my sound was, am I looking back through rose coloured ears?

    Agree that vinyl is not a budget pursuit, especially when you factor in your cartridge, and at least compared to a budget dac. Of course, this is not to say that a turntable system is not worth it, especially if you prefer that budget analog sound.
