Hi, I’ve just mapped out the the hot and cold services in a large building. The pipe runs have been neatly hand drawn over printed off floor plans. I’d like to now convert these hand drawn plans to some form of a cad version for a more professional finish. Is there a way of doing this, and if so, what software would you recommend? This is one of the best videos ever given so I think in the future you will have to explain the concept of new videos related to the piping design, construction.
My take on this is for on shore piping design S3D is pretty dominant in the industry for offshore PDMS or E3D then for smaller scales Cadworks, Autocad 3D. PDS was a strong software before but now its definitely S3D or E3D. But for 3D viewing software its Navisworks or SPR. Laser scanning softwares are also equally important to learn.
Thanks for the helpful software suggestions. In piping design for buildings, we usually define the number of fixtures (kitchen sink, water closets, showers, and also various drainage pipes. Then, the designer extracts the water flowrate required in each section of the pipe to calculate the pipe size. Which of these softwares can get the various fixtures of a building as input and calculate the rest? (i.e. the required pipe size, flowrates, etc) Thanks again!

PDMS will survive only for another 7-10 years. It will be replaced by E3D. So its good to learn E3D.
