Ya know, I’ve never quite understood the appeal of vtubers but Shoto saying he wants everyone to stay safe was actually really sweet. I still don’t really get it, but I sort of feel like it makes a little more sense.
For me, i believe the appeal is in the intimacy and closeness-although they’re kinda like idols and celebrities, the key difference i see is that with vtubers everyone is able to interact with them and it just feels welcoming, kinda like a family or a close knit group of friends. Both sides are allowed to be open with each other and freely have fun, unlike the generally formal, one sided relations with celebrities. For me its that feeling of mutual trust and friendship that is so appealing to many people, especially to those that could not experience such things. For others it might be a way to express feelings and actually have them be reciprocated (vtubers do fanservice and its rlly cute lol). They provide a space for people to feel relaxed, safe and express themselves in a genuine manner, and i think thats what makes them so special. Hope this might’ve helped you understand it better!~

Ya know, I’ve never quite understood the appeal of vtubers but Shoto saying he wants everyone to stay safe was actually really sweet. I still don’t really get it, but I sort of feel like it makes a little more sense.
For me, i believe the appeal is in the intimacy and closeness-although they’re kinda like idols and celebrities, the key difference i see is that with vtubers everyone is able to interact with them and it just feels welcoming, kinda like a family or a close knit group of friends. Both sides are allowed to be open with each other and freely have fun, unlike the generally formal, one sided relations with celebrities. For me its that feeling of mutual trust and friendship that is so appealing to many people, especially to those that could not experience such things. For others it might be a way to express feelings and actually have them be reciprocated (vtubers do fanservice and its rlly cute lol). They provide a space for people to feel relaxed, safe and express themselves in a genuine manner, and i think thats what makes them so special. Hope this might’ve helped you understand it better!~
