Thanks! We live in the Midwest US and my son moved to Sydney, Australia and married his sweetie. I miss my son much, and I don't know what I'll do when I have grandchildren so far away. I had a hard time flying such a long distance with my Rheumatoid Arthritis when we flew economy for their wedding.. My husband and I have been looking for ways to be able to afford to move up to premium or business class. I appreciate all the information you've provided.
Aw I’ve only just seen this!! Thanks you so much for the appreciation and ‘tip’ hehe. I can go and buy myself a coffee! Glad you found this video helpful!
I really empathise. Flights out of the US can be expensive. If you are willing, maybe look into flying via Asia - from Europe I find tickets to me a bit less expensive and much more comfortable f I'm willing to boom in 2 parts and take a night somewhere in between in Asia, usually Seoul. I also find Korean Air more comfortable in economy as the seats are larger than most, with more leg room.
NZ does have the absolute best coffee. I spent a lot of time in Wellington in 2001 & 2002. Air NZ legs were so nice, United out of LA was my most frequent airline. Upgrades to business are well worth it. I enjoy your enthusiasm.
I'm usually not one to watch long videos showing the experience of boarding, as I've done it myself plenty of times! But this one was the best I've watched here on YT in a big while! Great video Chloe!
@@chloeandludvig It is indeed luckily for me I get to do it in 7 days as we're going to america. overall an amazing experience and my favourite out off all the 7 airlines I have tried! Hope you get to do it again one time :D!
Hey Chloe! Love the happy-dance at the start of this vid!😂 Wouldn't be hilarious if it turned out when go through the Special Gate, they knock y'all out, store you in the luggage area, and then Total Recall your wonderful experience into your brain?🤔 (I really hope I didn't give them an idea!)
Hey there Chloe, only 6 days left til we start our RTW trip. The last part from Houston to Auckland, then Auckland to Melbourne will be with Air New Zealand in premier business class
Thank you for this video. We also use Amex to get airpoints. We will be flying from Auckand to Vancouver in Premium Economy (first time) next year. I am Swedish and have lived in NZ for over 30 years with my Canadian husband. He came to NZ when he was 6 years old. Loved your video on Premium Economy Air NZ Vancouver to Auckland. It was so nice to see what to expect 😀Business Premier looks amazing. Maybe one day for us. We will be flying back in Economy Stretch from LA after a 5-week trip to Canada and the US. I suspect that we will bid for an upgrade after trying Premium Economy on the way up!
Wow! You seem to have a lot in common with us country wise! I am a kiwi and my fiancé, Ludvig, is Swedish, we’ve lived in both Canada and New Zealand! Very cool to hear about you guys. Where abouts in NZ do you live? That’s very exciting for you, you trip sounds awesome! I’m happy you were able to get an idea on what to expect for your flight. Hopefully one day with all of your Amex points you’ll get to business premier too ;)
I’m a fairly frequent flyer as are the rest of my family and my father who is now retired used to work for Air New Zealand and knows how the air points system works he informs me that in order to get air points and gold status you have to spend a lot of money and the air points are kind of like a form of money and so this wasn’t actually technically free
it's this video of yours that convinced me to try flying business class lol! I often fly between korea and nz (home and home) on 787-9 and I finally caved and purchased a business class seat for one of the legs for early next year! The private back seats were sold out unfortunately lol but I chose one of the left hand side middle ish seats instead. As much as I want the very front seat (to not look at the back of someones head) it is also closest to the toilet and I don't know if I want that LOL I'm excited to try it despite the awful seat layout lol!
I'm working on getting my credit up to aquire a points credit card, its slowly getting there. As always, I love the videos, and the great info you pass on to others, keep up the great work! oh and get Ludvig on a flight or holiday hahahahahaha. Thank you again!
Love air nz, and business class is better than economy but I agree that seating configuration is horrendous, thankfully air nz is changing it to more private seating.. yay
Seems like it’s the same business class product on Virgin Atlantic that I have taken twice, I personally think it’s very niche and cute. Of course service comes first.❤
Great video !! You have the same level of excitement I would have going on these upgraded flights. Although I only have a standard Amex card, I can convert standard membership points into Airpoints (if I they get hight enough) . I also have a standard Airpoints Credit Card with my bank, just not Platinum. This is Ok because I'm still earning passive Airpoints just not at a faster rate. I might switch to Amex Airpoints Card now.
Haha yusss! I’m happy someone else would be this excited! I always feel like the only one on the plane😆 I would definitely recommend upgrading to the platinum if you can!
Hi, I just flew on same air nz Akl- Van flight. Upon arrival in Van, I realised Canadian pp control did not stamp my pp, did they stamp yours? I mean am I alright without entry stamp or in trouble? 😢 thx
Hmm now that you mention it, I didn’t get a stamp either! We do go through those electronic machines before you head out through customs though so maybe that is in place of a stamp?
I love watching videos like this because im not financially responsible enough to save up for traveling like this im also diabetic so i don't know how traveling would go
Most places I go, Amex is accepted..... but I don't really go anywhere different form my usuals haha. I've heard its quite expensive for businesses to accept Amex, so that's prob why :/
Not my favorite seat layout. I have to have a window view...Do prefer premium economy over this on Air NZ. At least the new cabins will give you a window view.
Please don’t go overboard on the perfume, it’s really not polite to wear strong perfume and then lock yourself into a metal tube with people who might have allergies and sinus problems. I had this happen on a flight yesterday. The flight attendant nearly knocked people over each time she walked by collecting trash with her strong perfume.
You are 100% right! 😂 But the opposite applies to underarm deodorant -- between the stress, the long-haul without a shower, and the (usually cramped) conditions, you can't use too much!
I have availability on an award flight for plans from Canada to Australia/New Zealand for March. But I’m an extroverted introvert and these seats are bloody awkward. I prefer to look out the window or watch my movies but even your window view is obstructed. who in the world approved these seats lmfao
They are pretty awkward aren’t they! I think I am so excited about any business class seat I get, it didn’t really bother me. I will say however, it’s not my top pick 😅 I heard they are going for a new business class layout soon!!!
As I kiwi I want to be proud of my national airline but they honestly have the worst and most awkward business set-up in the industry. I'll fly business with other airlines but when flying Air NZ, premium economy will do.
@@chloeandludvig yeah i dont like it. Is like the economy version of business class. So cramp in there, but one you try Qatar or Singapore Airlines BC you will feel the same. 🥲
These seats for the price are the worst seats ever !!! I'm 6ft 5in and about 100kg and feel like the seats are only designed for anyone under 5ft 8in and less than 70kg - anyone bigger, you're in for a real bad & uncomfortable experience. And believe me, the toilets are just as bad. "All" the seats are facing away from the windows - so you cannot see out !!! also you cannot sit next to you partner or wife or husband, in fact with the noise of the aircraft you'll struggle to talk to them. I genuinely do not recommend this seating or toilet option - certainly not worth the money. Staff and food was good, everything else a total failure !!!
Thanks for the feedback - I loved my time in AirNZ Business class, but yes, it is lacking in certain places. I'm sure other viewers will find your comment helpful :)
My takeaway from this video. You are an alcoholic who likes drinking a lot of alcohol. Consume vast amounts of coffee to mask the alcohol and then spend your flight going to the toilet to empty your bladder. Anyone who flies a lot, will also know never to book right beside the toilet. one because you hear the flushing noise all the time, two because of the smell as people leave the toilet and three because when they break down and back up, which long haul aircraft toilets do, the smell and stench will make you want to jump out of the plane at 37,000 feet. This is also a video that is a once in a lifetime to fly in business class, but you get butterflies in your stomach every time you fly business class.
So happy for your wedding!!! A Swedish wedding sounds beautiful. Congrats ❤️
