- I got into Denver early for a talk on...you guessed it...plants, but I had some time on my hands after the plane ride in, so I thought I would check out the Denver plant scene. I was surprised how many plant shops Denver has-so this is by NO means an exhaustive list (and my apologies for not dropping into EVERY plant store), but think I picked a few good ones.

Its always cool to see woodshop and plant enthusiasts building creative things together
oh wow, what a cool guy. I love seeing younger people getting into plants and woodworking to boot, that gives me hope for the next generation !
That thrill of discovering a new plant nursery. It's like an adventure. That buzz. And then leaving, quite often considerably poorer. So worth it.

If you're still in Denver PLEASE go to Flora Foundry. Nick is one of the nicest guys in Denver. He's all about sustainability and connecting with his community and neighbors. Focuses on rare and exotic plants all locally grown in Denver.
Yeah it was one of the ones that was closed on a Tuesday, strangely enough, which was the day I was there. A few were (surprisingly) closed on Tuesdays and even Wednesdays.
@@summerrayneoakes Aww yeah I remember back when I lived there he was closed Tuesday and Wednesday. Unfortunately for me, since it was my only days off. Still, I managed to get off early a few times to go and chat. Probably my favorite plant shop in Denver. I highly recommend anyone Thornton/ Denver area to go check him out! :)

I love the woodwork that Luke has incorporated into plant life at PLANTED. Repurposed wood into unique stands and risers is beautiful!

My territory. I just heard on the news today that Colorado ranks in the top for highest number of houseplants per person. Planted has long been one of my favorites. Luke is one cool dude. He was doing the boutique plant store thing before most.

Overgrown is my favorite! Also a little more affordable than some other shops in Denver despite offering only more uncommon plants. Great folks 😃

I would so go to both those places if ever in Denver, thanks for the spot light, really cool, love those woodworking ideas too , helps inspire others to look at things with the ability to repurpose it in a way you may not have considered.

I lived in Denver for 8 years and just moved away. Plant Garage was always my favorites b/c they were one of the only plant stores that carried unique cactus.
He was doing other plant related jobs he says. 🤭😏😏🤤

Hello Summer, the winter is arriving. How do you prepare for the diminishing light levels? Do you move your plants to better places, to different windows, tighten the rows under your grow lights? Do you lower the temperature in your apartment for higher relative humidity? Which plants of yours struggle and which survive the winter better?
You're dividing your time between two homes and have longer intervals between watering. To reflect that are you planning to fine tune the potting mix? Change the material of your terracotta pots into glazed ones? Or are you revising your collection towards more drought tolerant plants? Do you have any experience on self watering pots? Could you be our guinea pig to test and find beautiful self watering pots and the special substrates (like Lechuza-pon) they recommend to use in them?

I live in Denver and just learned of a few shops I haven't checked out yet from all these comments: Terrorium Shop, Flora Foundry, The Plant Room, Reroot! And I will def be checking them and Overgrown out soon! Datura in Central Park is also a fun one. They're half plants and all things plants and half other really fun items from jewelry to crystals, to socks and gum that talk shit.

Just the girl I wanted to see :D Before I start a video, I was wondering if you could explain how does one tell the difference between stem, and petiole? For additional context, I heard that ZZ plant doesn't have stems, that all we see are leaves, and what looks like leaves, are leaflets, that means what looks like stem, is a petiole. But is there a concrete difference between the two, and it can't be any other way, or was it just a decision by scientists to say "let this be a petiole, to confuse the hobbyists". Maybe a crazy question, but I have adhd, I now won't be able to sleep until i find out
