The Qin dynasty (Chinese: 秦朝; Qín Cháo) was the first dynasty of Imperial China, lasting from 221 to 206 BC. Named for its heartland in Qin state (modern Gansu and Shaanxi), the dynasty was founded by Qin Shi Huang, the First Emperor of Qin. The strength of the Qin state was greatly increased by the Legalist reforms of Shang Yang in the fourth century BC, during the Warring States period. In the mid and late third century BC, the Qin state carried out a series of swift conquests, first ending the powerless Zhou dynasty, and eventually conquering the other six of the seven Warring States. Its 15 years was the shortest major dynasty in Chinese history, consisting of only two emperors, but inaugurated an imperial system that lasted, with interruption and adaptation, until 1912.

Fun Fact: the actor portraying the King of Qin in this film would later go on to play Liu Bang/Emperor Gaozu of Han in the series "Legend of Chu and Han" aka "King's War."

I hoped Total War "China" to be about Warring States, even if I'm a fan of Three Kingdoms also... any way I'm a fan of Ying Zheng. Sad Qin din't last, Fu Su could be a great emperor... Qin deserved to be the Golden Age of China, I don't believe all that Han propaganda.

A reason for Qin to be impenetrable at war is their military policy, for that killing an enemy promotes to a higher position.(二十級軍功爵制)

Thank you for the comment!!! Yeah, Zhang Yimou is my hero.
To address your comment: In terms of military power maybe, but 1. I like the aesthetics of the Song dynasty, 2. If you consider China as multiethnic, I rather think the Yuan and the Qing are very strong (well, until the coming of European empires- who practically had space age weapons compared to the matchlocks of the Qing.
I like the Qin because they began as barbarian repelling frontiersmen and thus always had a rather Spartan quality about both discipline and cohesion.

Thank u for ur long comment. I am talking about comprehensive power of China. But from the past 2 hundred years of humiliation, i think military is the base of a powerful regime. If you ask a Chinese which dynasty is the top 3 greatest, i think Qin is very likely to be included. Yuan is excluded. Not only because Yuan is the time Han ethnic was ruled by barbarian. But also Qin gave Chinese way more heritage than Yuan. First. even though Qin started as a barbarian, They are less nationalistic, they tried to emerge themselves into a united china, and less emphasizing which country people used to belong to, which built a good foundation to a consistent will of uniting China. But Mongolian have high discrimination to Han ethnic. Second. Even though Qin still used brutal strategy after they united china, after all they unite character, scale and so on. Their strategy made sense. But Mongolian destroyed good farmland and back to grassland. It is apparently not like an educated, civilized regime, which also means they don't listen to strategist from Han ethnic.Third, Actually the map of Yuan is not that big. At the same time there were 4 Mongolian empire, and none of them were aware of the importance of cultural infiltration, at the end, they don't left too much track in the world.
其进锐者,其退速,The dark typhoon went through whole Asia and Middle East, but they faded away in the next 200 years one by one.

I look at Yuan almost from a detached perspective and discount my identity, yes, they were brutal, and on top of that they were exclusionary toward the southern Chinese and purposely starved them, all of which I cannot forgive nor forget. But I made my comment looking at them as a whole, for everyone else, it was hell of a time, and as an empire they did okay in garnering respect from all of their neighbors.
It also served as the model for Mongols to claim themselves to be Chinese (Chinese being the realm and not an ethnicity~ in a way similar to what the Northern Wei, the Liao, and the Jin did which ultimately also made them part of the Chinese collective identity.)
Here's my thoughts, if I were born as anyone else, it was a pretty powerful dynasty and worthy of respect and homage, if I were born as a Chinese during that time, well, rebellion time, rally the red turbans!!!
