That water cooling with that water bottle was genius ! Im taking my Blackjack 42 out on its Madien run tomorrow ! Hey big B it hurts to watch R,I,P,,,, but someone once said a bad day on the water beats a good day at work,,, so heads up please don't stop ur videos be lost with out them f,r and thanks for the heads up on winterizing my RC boat didn't know you had to do that stuff my boats are inside they're not outside in the basement the temp down there b around 47-58 degrees think that be all right still going to do what you said too so thanks for the heads up Wisconsin
Rip BJ, you fought the good fight! At least you didnt have a salvage operation on your hands. Every time you land a flip and keep running, Im like B must stand for Balls lmao. After loosing my favorite boat Im paranoid AF.
Well, I don’t know, but I doubt either one of those 80+ flips did the damage. It was more likely the combination of the two. Are you going to reinforce the new hull before you get the interior built out?
One possible reason to add a water pump - not having to manually cool down the ESC. if the pump has enough flow it will not restrict the flow at high speed and your electronics will stay cooler on average - I’ve instrumented my boat and log the temps. That might make a good video too - pump vs no pump and temperature over time.
danggg! that's a big bummer 😔 Congratzz on 89mph! I think for the big upgrade for Jack you gotta need Kevlar 🤔 man what a show you give there tho 😁😁 all through it al keep it up BigB never give up bro!💪🏼

Boy o boy B, I'm sorry to see this one but I know how you are feeling. I told you I was going camping at the lake last week, I had beautiful water most of the week. I got Miss Geico 36 up to 79 mph for the first time, I was shaking so much I could barely hold the control, boy was I jazzed. I also took the Veles 29 and was playing with different props and got her to 67mph and for some reason the strut worked its way down to deep and I think pushed the nose down and boat was running too wet, I stuck the bow in a small wake that should have passed over but didn't at 67mph. Sounded like the boat hit a brick wall. The boat landed upright, and I drove her in and found I cracked the hull on right sponson and stress cracks all up in the tunnel and broke right side battery tray loose. I removed both battery trays and doing your mod with Oxidean carbon trays I have them ready to glue in just as soon as I finish with hull repairs and reinforcements. she is going to be a bit heavier hope it won't slow her down too much. I don't know where I'm going to find that green paint maybe just paint the bottom black. I did the maiden run on the Sonic Wake V2 I upgraded the ESC with 160 amp and servo upgrade before ever putting her on the water. She runs good with the stock prop or the Oxidean blue prop but when I put the Oxidean yellow high rake she gets power cuts right as you hit full throttle, so I have to figure that out. I had a fun week at the lake but it's going to be a lot of work fixing the Veles.
How about a small wing mounted on top of the boat on the front set at a neutral angle and a small servo to change the angle of that wing linked to a small gyro , then as the front of the hull starts to rise the gyro would sense this movement and apply a small negative angle to the wing ? In theory that would make the boat unflippable at any speed . Just a thought! Great channel and greetings from the UK 👍🏻
I’ve always wondered about an active front wing on these boats. Even one w/o a gyro that is connected to the throttle and adds a bit of downforce in a linear fashion with the throttle curve. I can’t get my bj42 much over 65 without it catching air and flipping. The fact that ironclad is even getting some 80+ runs is impressive and a testament to his tuning and commitment :)
WOW 89 that's movin Bro ...sorry it finally gave up the ghost poor guy's been through a bunch great video Brother....like I said that cooling deal works great mines just a p.o.s. Elec. Bug sprayer I put in a gallon jug of ice water and Boom done Stay safe Man And keep on Boatin...

Sorry about the fatal wreck my friend ..... and congrats on the speeds you reached ..... but I gotta mention ..... polycarbonate is strong ... but at these speeds ...I don't think it is as strong as carbon fiber or fiberglass..... for the hull to separate like it did on your boat I think that on impact the hull flexed to the point where it separated at the seems even though you reinforced it ...... thanks for sharing .....
You got your money's worth out of that boat. I don't think there's another BJ42 that has had such a rich life full of adventure as yours has. Gees, you hit a duck and ran over a crock with that thing! Man it deserves to live on. Maybe build a fresh one and then fix the old girl and piece it together with spares. Then you can beat on it and not worry if something happens to it. That's what I'd do :)
@@IRONCLADRC mine too, I’ve had mine right after they released. I have sent a battery through the side of mine twice, all kinds of shit haha. I’m about tired of fixing it, I have mined dialed in so I’m getting new hull this winter

What happened to the air dam idea? That may have helped to keep the boat on the water at speed. You can see in the slo-mo that the boat gradually raised it's bow until enough air could get under it to start the high-speed rotation/flip process. Bummer about that giant crack. It could be fixed, but retirement and replacement sounds easier. Are you going to do another BJ hull, or maybe something built from composite materials?

It be quite honest I think all the weight from fixing and reinforcing the hull here lately has contributed to the demise of this hull. I added quite a bit of weight reinforcing the seem with epoxy and carbon Kevlar... I think the added weight in the stern from the last repair messed up my CG, Causing the flips. Idk.
@@IRONCLADRC carbon fiber isn’t all that heavy. You can get various weights. If I recall correctly, it’s rated as grams per square meter. Go with the light stuff and go easy on the epoxy. Seems like you could keep the added weight down.
Salt on copper wires and conectors will corrode and degrade the connection, causing resistance.
