I live in Spain and the Shakira thing is a little complicated because she says her fiscal residence is elsewhere, but in the Spanish law, if she lives more than 6 months a year in Spain, she is obliged to pay her taxes here. It is a situation of overlapping laws between different countries where she works and lives. She paid the treasury the 14 million and 3 million more of interest but fines and a court hearing is still due. Who knows what will happen.

Taxes get complicated and it's ridiculous we have to file when we don't even get taught how to do it.

Now days tax software makes it much easier and you don't have have to do math. Not any different than telling a CPA your info and having them enter it in the computer. Maybe if you have a business you might want to pay to have it done.

For most people (non business owners), taxes aren't that complicated. People are just lazy, and if you're one of those folks, you can always outsource that chore.

@@scarpfish guess we're not most people. And I understand outsourcing, I understand TurboTax. To clarify, we shouldn't have to file in the first place. If all info can go to the IRS, then they know how much we owe. We shouldn't HAVE to pay a third party to do taxes. Let's catch up to the rest of the world. It's too easy to make a mistake and also too many loopholes that e average person isn't going to know. It's not laziness at all.
