I lived in Malaysia for 11 years (isteri dan anak orang Malaysia) and now that I am posted somewhere else, I have to recognize this video brings me tears but also fond memories.
Other may have comments on how it can be done better, but truth is... it touches my soul and as i was brought up in a multi-racial kampung in Muar, the message is clear... it brings back all my childhood days playing and celebrating each other races celebration. ... notice many props that we used to have n shared amongst my kampung kaki ayam geng.... this makes me want to go back to my kampung to get the feel onced more. I feel it becos i experienced it. This is awesome ! It brings back the good old days.

This is a 100 times better than all the other sappy, melancholic ads that, while 'dramatic' or 'cinematographically beautiful' to watch, is not relatable to the common malay family celebration of the Hari Raya.

i love it, i love both the advertisement and the song...even though i' don't celebrate Hari Raya but the way they put it is so sweet and peaceful, brings back memories when i was just a small kid...no matter which religion celebration, as long as there is school holidays there will always be a trip back to kampung and the best thing is i got to visit those that celebrate the occasion at my kampung..why? coz my kampung is a mix kampung...ahhhh really bring back those sweet memories. A lot of mixed thought on this video... For me this video has sentimental value since it shows 'suasana raya' in traditional kampung style and i experienced it when i was a kid. The video bring nostalgic moment like sleep together in the living room, lineup for shower using 'OUTDOOR bathroom' and more.. BUT some people that doesn't like the video maybe they prefer 'life-acting video' like late Yasmin Ahmad always do.. That kind of video style is also fun to watch.. So..for me the Ads is NOT bad generally. Its just depend on the personal view.. Its bring memory.. :)

No awards for this (if Petronas or the agency thinks they wanna go for any awards), however coming from the x-film industry, I think it could have been done much better. It's ok-la... like many people say, but seriously, didn't touch that spot. At first I thought so too. I might agree with you at some point but being a Malay/ Muslim myself, we can relate to almost all of the values portrayed in this video. This commercial successfully portrayed the casual activities during raya eve in which I think most of malay/muslim families can relate to. Most of raya-themed commercials in our time failed to portray the realism behind the celebration, which by the way, always based on a narrative of a person of a broken family, comical interpretation, and melancholic drama. This perhaps I think, was the intention behind of this commercial. It tries to break away with YasminAhmad-ish theme and style. I myself think that this video is great.
Agree with some of your point and i don't think this is great than any commercial and don't think it will go for any award BUT its successfully telling what's Hari Raya eve about.That ok for me. :)
David Jr Well, i do agree with you but this is just your opinion but not their targeting audience. The same old song but with a clean voice and ukulele. Simple and clean, A traditional festive in a modern age. Quality & excellent commercial production without market value and the general msg couldn't reach their general targeting audience will also be useless. :)

Bagi saya yg berasal dari kampung, iklan ni sangat menggamit memori...dulu semua berkumpul rumah nenek beberapa hari sebelum hari raya sebab ramai yang tinggal jauh2..kereta takde. tapi bila nenek dah takde, kenangan dulu dah takde, sedara mara sekarang semua dah ada kerete, datang singgah sekejap je..lepas tu balik..i miss the old days..
I spent Ramadan of 2014 in Malaysia in Penang and Kuala Kedah. This period of time in my life is my favorite of my lifetime! I will never forget all the memories I had in Malaysia and with the kindest people on earth 💙

I really miss all those precious moments - kutip duit raya , bakar lemang sama2 , buat kuih raya sama2 , kacaul dodol & mcm2 lagi . Nowadays' raya are not like those days' . The growing-up of the girl into a women (min 2), with the advancing of a generation is reminiscent of life itself and the perpetuation of a tradition unchanging with time. The house, the scenery, the scenes - all so tacit and picturesque. Having experienced the life portrayed in my childhood days gives me a sense of belonging and relationship almost as if the characters were the pak cik, mak cik and playmates in my kampung. So much nostalgia! My kampung dah laaaaaama takde dah (I've been celebrating raya in KL sinc3 like...10++ years ago? I cant even rem3mber). This ad brings a lot of good memories celebrating pagi raya in an old kampung house. Dari susunan perabot dekat living room sampai selimut yg budak2 tu pakai. I like it! 2 thumbs up!

Iklan yg dibuat mmg menyentuh hati saya terutama suasana hari raya di kampung.. pagi2 kena chop bilik air, siapa lmbt bangun lambat pergi sembahyang hati raya dahla airnya sejuk, budak kecil excited nk tunggu pagi raya. hanya orang kampung saja tau nikmatnya suasana hari raya.

Still the best commercial ad ever by Petronas although I didn't have the chance of sleeping with relatives in a kampong house, yet still brings back some memories to many of us, I believe. Selamat hari raya Aidilfitri everyone and maaf zahir dan batin!

i love it, i love both the advertisement and the song...even though i' don't celebrate Hari Raya but the way they put it is so sweet and peaceful, brings back memories when i was just a small kid...no matter which religion celebration, as long as there is school holidays there will always be a trip back to kampung and the best thing is i got to visit those that celebrate the occasion at my kampung..why? coz my kampung is a mix kampung...ahhhh really bring back those sweet memories. Anyway, to my muslim friends, Selamat Hari Raya :)

A lot of mixed thought on this video... For me this video has sentimental value since it shows 'suasana raya' in traditional kampung style and i experienced it when i was a kid. The video bring nostalgic moment like sleep together in the living room, lineup for shower using 'OUTDOOR bathroom' and more.. BUT some people that doesn't like the video maybe they prefer 'life-acting video' like late Yasmin Ahmad always do.. That kind of video style is also fun to watch.. So..for me the Ads is NOT bad generally. Its just depend on the personal view.. Its bring memory.. :)

It's ok-la... like many people say, but seriously, didn't touch that spot. At first I thought so too. I might agree with you at some point but being a Malay/ Muslim myself, we can relate to almost all of the values portrayed in this video. This commercial successfully portrayed the casual activities during raya eve in which I think most of malay/muslim families can relate to. Most of raya-themed commercials in our time failed to portray the realism behind the celebration, which by the way, always based on a narrative of a person of a broken family, comical interpretation, and melancholic drama. This perhaps I think, was the intention behind of this commercial. It tries to break away with YasminAhmad-ish theme and style. I myself think that this video is great.
Agree with some of your point and i don't think this is great than any commercial and don't think it will go for any award BUT its successfully telling what's Hari Raya eve about.That ok for me. :)
David Jr Well, i do agree with you but this is just your opinion but not their targeting audience. The same old song but with a clean voice and ukulele. Simple and clean, A traditional festive in a modern age.
Quality & excellent commercial production without market value and the general msg couldn't reach their general targeting audience will also be useless. :)
