i bit the bullet and got everything i needed to restore the 1993 sweetwater 20 foot pontoon going to be nice . just built a new trailer and got the new floor in , now just wait until i get the new furniture to come in we should be all set .for spring . thanks
You'll love the end result. We have torn boats down from the 1970s all the way to 2013, and even built one from new components...and they really haven't changed much in all that time! Sure, newer boats might have beefier structure for heavier motors and higher horsepower, and might have bigger diameter pontoons to carry heavier loads, but in the end those older pontoon boats will do GREAT for cruising around the lake with a few friends!
I don't remember the exact measurement there, but I usually tell my customers that a fishing deck should be minimum of 32" if you want seats and space to walk around the front of the boat. We've done front decks up to about 48" when fishing is the main focus. Thanks for the question!
Hey Tom, did you make any other videos with this boat? I'm restoring one just like it but a 20' really curious what you did for the Stern of the boat...thx
Hey Carl! This boat has the trays on top of the pontoons in the rear for the battery and gas tank. There are two videos where we worked on this boat while stripped down that you might be able to see the stern. Hope they help! th-cam.com/video/joQT2iQkWOY/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/jzMDzqxMrRo/w-d-xo.html
On this boat we installed it under the helm aimed forward. It'll last forever there without exposure to moisture, and it's plenty loud! We also install them under the front seats or arm rests often too. It seems like most of the horns we remove that are mounted under the deck do not work, likely from water splashing/spraying over the years.
Hey Tom: I know, "THEY" say... "If you have to ask, "How much does it cost"? Then you can't afford it... That's not always the case, right? I am just wondering,,, This is an old boat... you put a few buck worth of "Look'um good-Feel'um good" on this ole girl,, now, how much do you want for it? Please sir?
Hey Curtis! Great question! The boats I refurbish are actually boats brought to me by my customers. I rarely sell any pontoons. Most of the projects I do range in price quite a bit based on what all is done. PontoonStuff.com is a great place to start pricing materials to get an idea of how much it would cost to fix an old boat up for the DIY folks out there!
What a transformation, good work kids!!!
Thank you!

Yes you are!
how large is the front fishing deck in inches on the finished boat
