    Thank you for posting this. My son and I followed your instructions and it allowed him to fix his own headlight - I just supervised. A great experience for a young man to fix his own car.

    I was about to go to a mechanic to change A LIGHT BULB. You helped me be a real man. Thank you

    You are a life saver, it all came out fine except a little screw connector on the box that broke no problem. I got it changed and back together. I was stressed when I looked at the location and thought I better check on TH-cam and at 70 years old still got it fixed. Thanks so much!!!!

    Helpful video, thanks! MY TIPS:
    1. Low beams use H11 bulbs. (Volvo Owners Manual has H7, which is NOT correct.)
    2. Use long life bulbs (e.g., Hella H11LL). Otherwise they will fail again much sooner because low beams are on all the time.
    3. Small amount of lube on bulb tabs makes it easier to twist new bulbs into place. Make sure they lock.
    4. Hooking up cold air snorkel should be checked at both ends.
    5. Lid needs to be tilted up at the front to engage tabs at back of filter box.
    Checked on my 2008 S60 2.5T.

    I think the profanity appropriately expresses the disappointment we all feel when first we approach changing these bulbs.

    Thank you! Love the ending. “Ah fuck it, just do it in reverse. Hopefully you guys can figure that out.” Priceless.

    Really helpful!!!! - saved me on research, broken plastic and who knows what else. I was able to do it without removing snorkle at box - lift up bottom of box and the flex pipe moves (if you want more room then pop off snorkel). Those air box 4prong clips were a major pain - i sprayed mine with silicone spary and then they popped off - I used a socket to push down on them to help as well. 2007 S60

    Awesome walk through, and the fact that you did it one-handed is impressive! Saved me from having to sheepishly ask a mechanic to do it. Thanks!

    Perfect instructions. Just one caution note: Don’t start the car with the airflow sensor plug undone. If you do, you will get an Engine System Service Required error code 042 air flow sensor. It can only be reset with an ECU computer link.

    Thanks. This info was enough to help me to change the h7 bulb. To get the bulb in correct orientation and the metal wire locked was the tricky part for my 12 size hand.

    Haven't done the deed yet but am glad to know that the airfilter box comes out (even without tools). Couldn't get my hands to the headlight rear cap when I tried before. Removing the air box seems to be the trick. Off to Auto Zone Saturday for the change! Thanks!

    This last time I did this I adapted a socket wrench to pop those ‘Christmas tree’ retainers. I never thought of just pulling on them. Sure enough, it worked.

    Didn't see it said, but those 4 piece clips, 3 of them, can be compressed together with a 10mm socket, without breaking them. Maybe 9 will collapse to an easier release, but 10 did the work for me. And a long extension, because two are hard to get to.

    For some reason I looked into everything clustered in that area and came to the conclusion that there was a hard line for the a/c ran across there and came to the conclusion that the bumper cover/headlight assembly needed pulled for the job. Thank SHIRTS I came across your video to be shown it's all floppy crap back there. My girlfriend stole my S60 with the bitchin' upgraded seats and I swear that she's a sorceress that's cursed me with neverending maintenance on any car she drives hahaha

    Thanks for the info on removing the ECU cover! The passenger side would have been impossible for my hands without that. FWIW, I removed the T25 screw holding the WW washer filler neck in place, which gave a bit more room to get the ECU cover off and on.

  • @ericavestal8962
    @ericavestal8962 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I know the video is about the headlights but which direction do you turn the turn signal bulb to get it out? My hands can fit in there but it's kind of tough to move cause it's an 07. I don't want to break it and I don't want to have to take everything out

  • @Peppermint1
    @Peppermint1 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This guy did it with ONE hand. No more excuses. I managed to do both sides without removing anything, but then I was a piano player.
    Just look well at the plastic cover over the bulb before removing it, take a picture how it is placed and check the arrows printed on it, otherwise you'll find it long putting it back in place.

    I had to remove the bumper and the headlight unit.
    2 days later the bulb blew again. I scrapped the car.

    Great video doing it now but when you say twist and lock at the end what do you mean? Trying to get the bulb out now but can't

    • @JerkofAllTradesTLH
      @JerkofAllTradesTLH  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It twists out, look at the bulb, it has three different sized tabs, those fit into specific holes, and then you lock the bulb in by rotating.

    Great video, but left with problem. The check engine light appeared & confirmed all pieces were reconnected. Any ideas would be appreciated how to get rid of the check engine

    • @JerkofAllTradesTLH
      @JerkofAllTradesTLH  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The headlight bulb, and your check engine light have nothing to do with one another. Now, if you still have a bulb out else where, it will tell you that in the message center. The CEL will not come on due to a failed bulb. You have issues elsewhere.

      well, that is one way you can do it, this is another.

    I found it easier to inspect other bulb and then change driver side one blindly with patience, that took me about 10 minutes.
    Note. I have medium size hands, with big hands it probably will be not possible this way.

      Buy the harness, remove the headlight from the car and replace it. It's fairly involved. Bumper has to come off and whatnot.
