Yeah, at my favorite amusement park growing up, they had a self-playing organ with dolls that played the percussion parts. Back in the 1980s, Chuck E Cheese/Showbiz Pizza had robots that actually played instruments, too. So to me, robot bands are a lost art, not a new one.
Very nice! You know, they had something similar to this back around the turn of the last century (called Orchestrions or Nickelodians) that did the same thing as this band does, basically, self playing instruments. Check 'em out, they're pretty neat.
This is great. I love the vocals. It sounds like total robot speak. I wonder what they used to do it. It sounds like a recording of someone talking, then played backwards at different speeds.
I think my favorite details are the one-stringed fuzz guitar and the little cymbal-tapping thingie. The whole thing reminds me of the Velvet Underground--all that's missing is a robot Nico.
WOOOOW! This was so cool ^^ I love new ways of making music but, gosh :D This must have been "SOME" hard work to put all those robots together, and getting them to play the same rythm! Keep up the good work!
@pieplateindustries, I agree with you. This is all for fun; and it is fun! There is nothing wrong with achieving something different which is also entertaining. Mega props to you! This is great! Best regards, A.
that was awesome. everything like this is a learning experience , and if it's your passion keep it up, don't loose your passion the possibilities are endless
I actually think we can work together. Like Captured! By Robots. Go check them out. They have a human member. And for totally autonomous robot musicians, check out The Three Sirens.
And I have an organ that can play by itself. I don't think the point here is to play a very artistic piece of music. I think the point is to show how robots can play real instruments. Your laptop and my organ uses bits of sound played all electronic with no movement involved. Here most of the sound is played by real physical instruments activated by servos and electro magnets. And that's the fascinating thing about this video.
In some countries such as UK, Ireland, Australia, Canada, and South Africa, they use practice as a noun and practise as a verb, so he did use it right.. in their country.
best band since "the shaggs", i look forward to your 9.0/10 review on pitchfork and their recanting of said review a week later when they finally realise it's a self-playing band
The trons and compressorhead should meet up, it would be INCREDIBLE.
I'd really like to see a Battle of the Robot Bands one day, because I know there are a few of them out there.
Re-visiting this vedio after 14 years! Lovely.
This is definitely that ‘12 years ago’ vibe
This band will always be my favourite robot band, keep jamming out and one day come down and visit england, we loved to welcome The Trons
I love The Trons!!!!! More songs please! I think these guys could be huge!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your the hero this world needs more of. Thanks for making me smile
Finally not an old comment
I just realized I'm literally listening to cyberpunk
This is absolutely insane!! 5 stars!
As amazing as this is, keep in mind that calliopes of the mid-19th century made great automated music, without electricity.

They play with more feel than some humans I've seen.
I can't even imagine the time and work you must have put in this, Really great work.
Bill
We're already halfway there with today's radio music. Just wait in a few years and the vocoders will be replaced with robot bands!

This is great. I love the vocals. It sounds like total robot speak. I wonder what they used to do it. It sounds like a recording of someone talking, then played backwards at different speeds.
That's amazing! I love the bass slide at the end. :)
The sad thing is this still has more soul and heart than a lot of music today
Was at the gig twice on Friday via my computer and amp. It's Perfect; love the vocals.
pretty freaking sweet!
THIS IS AWESOME! you should totally make new songs, this is so RAD!!!
xD Awesome! I love them! Whoever made them rocks! And the song's pretty catchy!
I think my favorite details are the one-stringed fuzz guitar and the little cymbal-tapping thingie.
The whole thing reminds me of the Velvet Underground--all that's missing is a robot Nico.
That is truly amazing. I admire the creativity and worksmanship.
I like the robot singer and the piano robot! Soo cute! It's a pretty cool song too

This shit's fantastic. I'm so lucky I get to be alive in these times.

I've been a fan of the Trons for years. Just wish they'd tour the States.

I enjoyed it, appart from others as I see. Good tune and marvelous work on robotics and programing!
A great article about the Trons in the Taranaki Daily ews this morning brings me to have a look. Very clever!
great work whom ever built the machines!
@pieplateindustries,
I agree with you. This is all for fun; and it is fun! There is nothing wrong with achieving something different which is also entertaining. Mega props to you! This is great!

Hells yeah.

the chick that plays the keyboard is soo fine
holy crap that is cool. what a awesome job you did making those
the guitar robot has got my Fender Strat.
I feel honored ;D
btw. great job and cool melody!
In 100 years when robots have conquered the world, they will look back at this band like we look back at The Beatles.
that was awesome. everything like this is a learning experience , and if it's your passion keep it up, don't loose your passion the possibilities are endless
Amazing piece of work.
This Excellent! Thanks lovedeanguitars for the share!
That was kool! I aint never seen anything like that. Great, wise setup.
I agree! I've used a musical program on my computer and made songs from just mathematical random computer noises and they were more than par.
WOW MAN, that video RULEZ, great job, KEEP IT UP!!!
i want that thing in my room, when im bored i tell it to write a hit song :P
This is amazing! Well done!!!!!
This is incredible! A lot like our band!

OMG this is so cool!! i wonder how long it took to make it? Good Job!
Whoever did this has an awesome life.
This is my new favourite band!
That is just awesome. Way to go. Im speechless
This is great. I've always wanted to do a project similar to this, but don't have the technical know-how or time to do it.
I don't think people understand how awesome that is.
Even though this one of the coolest things I've ever seen, there is still something genuinely unnerving about it...
I actually think we can work together. Like Captured! By Robots. Go check them out. They have a human member.

Hahaha my brother who plays in The shrugs told me to see this video. Good on you guys! Keep repping Hamilton music..
@ZikrieX the keyboard is playing the lower notes. that adds the frequency into the track :)
they are awsome they remind me of the ventures
I like the simplicity of the tune and how badass it sounds either way. If it had a badass epi lyric it could be a hit.
These guys will have their own tv-show soon, mark my words. With their own commercials
In some countries such as UK, Ireland, Australia, Canada, and South Africa, they use practice as a noun and practise as a verb, so he did use it right.. in their country.
