Hey Brian! Sorry I'm so late to this party, buddy! LOL! Anyway, I live in Oak Lawn, Illinois. In my youth (from '69 to '88) I live on 97th & Rutherford - which was 2 blocks south of Pumpkin Studios (owned by the late Gary Loizzo - formerly of the Chicago based band The American Breed - who had a national Top 5 hit with "Bend Me, Shape Me") where Styx recorded most of their late 70's and all of their 80's albums. Dennis DeYoung's solo albums were also recorded there. Gary Loizzo was known as a very good recording engineer and also engineered "You Can Tune a Piano But You Can't Tuna Fish for REO Speedwagon and "Premonition" for Survivor. I met Dennis DeYoung one day in the fall of 1984 while I was working at J.R.'s Music Shop in Chicago Ridge Mall (which was 5 blocks from my childhood home).
Cool video ! If you haven't listened to The Mission and Crash of the Crown you really should do so. Even without Dennis they are a couple of the strongest records Styx has made and definitely their best since at least "Paradise Theater". And Dennis's most recent solo albums 26 East, Vol. 1 and 26 East, Vol. 2 are excellent as well. It's like having 2 , 2, 2 Styx at the same time. High quality music from both sides . It's been a good time to be a Styx fan over the last decade.
16. Cyclorama 15. The Serpent is Rising 14. Man of Miracles 13. Styx 12. Styx 2 11. Edge of the Century 10. Brave New World 9. Crash of the Crown 8. The Mission 7. Kilroy was Here 6. Cornerstone 5. Paradise Theater 4. Crystal Ball 3. Equinox 2. Pieces of Eight 1. The Grand Illusion
I always liked the songs by Tommy shaw and James young, though two of my favorite songs are from their live album return to paradise. One is a ballad written by Dennis deyoung, paradise, and the other is the live version of snowblind. For some reason, I don't care for the studio version. I think the live version is better.
