Both sound beautiful, to say one is “better” is very hard. Both are crafted beautifully and tone can be shaped within the tone/volume knobs and the player itself. Both are perfect examples of beautiful crafted arch tops.
The CES does it for me that sizzle on the red one just is a bit to bright for the jazz i play which im sure can be tuned out. That siad they're both far superior to my Ibanez AF95 😅
Very useful comparison!! the lack of low mids of th CT models compared to the CES is very clear, i prefer the CES. But there are those who love the CT because of its more comfortable way of playing, also it is a matter of taste. But they are different, and it is very clear in hear, specially in the fatness of the higher notes.
The CT is "squishier". Like potted vs unpotted pickups. Hard to nail it down on TH-cam but that's the impression I get. The CES is fuller though and as others have said more lower mids. I like them both. I think the CT might be a little more versatile, but not as pretty sounding.
Wow have a L5Ces, was looking at a thinline version. But the CT isn't really that much thinner, maybe I'll be looking at a Byrdland instead. Almost impossible to find a L5-CT for sale anyway in sunburst. Very rare. They both sound great! But prefer the l5-CES. Sounds rounder somehow. Have an Ibanez jsm10 john scofield for the semi hollowbody stuff.
They both sound almost as good as my Korean Epiphone! 😂And yes I have owned L5s including a Wes M. It’s all bollocks. If you sound crap on a cheap guitar you sound crap on an expensive guitar. If you sound good on a cheap guitar you sound good on an expensive guitar. That’s why most of the worlds top virtuoso guitar players cut their reputations playing cheap guitars.

Beware that the byrdlands have the closest pickups. I also prefer the ces, more creamy and round. For comfort, on the other hand, the CT is better!!!!
jazz L5 , country CT
Thank’s for reply!!!!!!!
Great sounds and great playing. What kind of strings?
Thomastik swing .12
I felt the sunburst with a more velvety harmonious sound... 🇧🇷🇧🇷👽
Perhaps the larger, deeper dimensions of the chest shoulders create this. Grazie Rodrigo.

Bel dual, suono più armonico per la Gibson ces, più deciso per la Gibson ct rossa. Bravo!
Un professionista come pochi
very good playing
Grazie!!!
The Gibson ces has a deeper sound than the ct. The Gibson CT has wider and slightly richer sound both sound very dynamic but there slight veryation
Thanks Anthony for your refined comment!!!!
Difficile scegliere! Forse la rossa... è più "pulita"! Ma l'altra ha una "morbidezza" irresistibile!
Già......!!!!
