Don't lift any saw by the table. For future reference, flip the box on upside down and remove the box from over it, allowing you to handle it it by its base. If you move it by the table, you risk making a mess of it, not to mention that your entire body is fighting against you, because you're spreading your arms so wide apart. Also, you're young. Use your legs, not your back. Take it from someone who didn't listen to that advice, you'll curse your days when back pain hits.
Yo! When you use the miter gauge, DO NOT use the fence! Use one or the other. The piece between the blade and the fence can get sideways, creating kick back. That piece should be supported all the time. Either by hand, or push stick. What you did was very dangerous.
in the netherlands they learned you that the fence must be set back at the point that youre workpiece is cut true. So the wood can move free after the cut. Then there is nothing dangerous
If you cut a lot of plywood with it, be sure to clean the blade's teeth. Plywood (because of the glue) clogs the cutting surfaces and that leads to the blade losing performance, can even cook the teeth, which you don't want. Plywood and MDF or HDF (basically parquet flooring) are always a pain to work with and in general i keep a small tooth count, but high quality blade for those, because it's easier to clean. I usually soak the blade in some alcohol inside a small tray after i'm done working with the blade. You can use a brass brush to wipe away all the gunk.
I've had this Makita MLT100 for a few years now and it took a lot of work to get it to cut well with carpentry precision. buy the BOCH GTS 10 XC instead. A much better saw, today I regret choosing the Makita.
Definitely a quality table saw, sliding fence is a great feature, but no rack and pinion fence is a huge omission , that should be standard on every tablesaw

I have been stuck with this saw for almost 3 years now, I bought it because of all bell and whistle... to be honest not a great experience. The fence needs to be upgraded, insert even I replace with the metal still get bowed due to no support on the right side. the raising saw blade screw (aluminum female part ) has worn down and one day while operating saw motor fell all the way down. Either you have to replace the full casing it or like me I did the brass bushing but you have to know it has a double thread on the screw so let the machinist know. This saw is designed by someone who does not know about the table saw. I wish I could have bought BOSCH or Dewalt. I am waiting for Dewalt to be available in Malaysia
Makita didn't go far with this saw. I've had a Makita MLT100 for several years now and it took a lot of work to get it to cut well with carpentry precision. buy the BOCH GTS 10 XC instead. A much better saw, today I regret choosing the Makita.

Lo malo de todas estas máquinas es que los piñones y las manivela son de plástico y se rompen y se desgasta roca hacerles de metal para el elevador de la sierra y eso ya son como 130 dolares
I used to own the mlt 100 ,and for the money ,at that time ,i thought ,i made a good purchase....the extending table ,the sled ,they looked quite handy 😅 ,but turned out to be of little use . The sled has to much play ,so its impossible to make accurate cut's ,and the same goes for the fence....not stable enough to make accurate cut's ...really not good ! And the internal mechanics to adjust the hight of the blade ,are made out of plastic ,and they can wear out pretty quick ( mine did ) On the good side ...the motor has enough power and is electronicaly braked,so its stops quickly .Also the saw hight is pretty good ,and Makita offers a hight adjustable trolly / cart for this table wich is really great ! All in all this could have been a nice saw ,but the devil in in the details ! One of the most important things to check before you buy a tablesaw is the fence ( if its held in place at the front and the back aswell its usualy good ) And when it comes to sleds and t slots to make crosscuts ,most of the portable tablesaws are just not accurate ,besides the Maffel Erika ,or the Festool cs serie's . None the less ,its not my intention to burn down the Makita MLT 100 ...for some people the accuracy might not be a problem ,and in that case this saw is fine ,but if you wan't straight cut's ,look for a tablesaw with a better fence 👍🏽
After market accessories will not fit this saw, I've had mine for a few years but I get it to work with what it's got. I would not be my first choice again!
It will be a vert good idea to make an hybrid between Makita and Dewalt. Dewalt is better quality and secure than Makita but something is missing on the Dewalt: the sliding bed. Jauge is poor on the Dewalt, the makita look ‘s good.
Just got the dewalt and I'm amazed. The miter is poor but with some aluminum tape you can get it to be accurate. That said I will replace the miter and thats another 100 euros. This makita looks like a mistake.
I have this Makita MLT100 for several years now and it has taken a lot of work to get it to cut well with carpentry precision. The ruler was the worst, then the travel table had a lot of play as well as the cross rulers. But a new saw blade cover plate needs to be made right away, it's a total bummer. If you can't fix it yourself so that it cuts with carpenter's precision, buy the BOCH GTS 10 XC instead. A much better saw, today I regret choosing the Makita.
It's better to use 40t blade instead of 60t, i have the same saw. It will put less strain on the motor. If you don't care about cut marks you can use a 24t blade
You do have to spend some time setting the saw up... blade, fence, etc. But once done, the saw is great. Fairly compact which is Nice th-cam.com/users/postUgkxXh-4_3-ZT1fFWP91ZV7iVqzElr0lEb-a I did get an Incra Miter Gauge which takes some setup as well. The stock miter gauge can be adjusted in the miter slot with a little painter's tape... this tightens up the side to side play a lot.
Thanks to all for the reviews. I am looking to replace my grandfathers 1963 Craftsman. 1 1/2HP may have been a guess at best. It bogs down even with link belts, new pulleys and new blade. No way it can cut 8:4 walnut. Looking for ideas. Really don’t want to have to rip walnut by hand.
Renew and enjoy it, but it is not something, the fence is constantly moving, and the dimensions of the cuts are not the most accurate, I think Diwalt and Bush are better than it, I also have one like this for a year and a half, and I am not so happy with it.

Is this even available in the state's ? I've never seen one anywhere. Makita is the first company to produce a truly portable table saw; they need to work on their game..
I thought about buying this machine and decided against it. The table saw is a heavy block and therefore not suitable for mobile use. The matching underframe is even more difficult. The sliding carriage belongs next to the saw blade.
Don't lift any saw by the table. For future reference, flip the box on upside down and remove the box from over it, allowing you to handle it it by its base. everytime I watch unboxing a table saw, none of them did this.

Yes thats correct! Forgot to move the fence. Thank you!
@@siegfriedbueno438 thank you very much for uploading this video i've learned a lot!
It s not really dangerous if your fence is adjuced. But the quality of your fence is poor >>> so it is dangerous

This is basic table saw knowledge , so manny informative vids online please learn the basics before you make your first cut 🍻

The Festool is utter shite too... looks flimsy AF and no where near as extendable as this one, but I agree that the rip fence looks flimsy as hell!

you’d have to compare the Bosch to the Makita 2704… it’s a different class to the MLT100!
what kind of electric motor is used on this tool ??

State of this melt, mask on, seems to never have used a saw before,
Don’t ever need a new motor they are now obsolete from Makita
