Lenin, born into an upper-middle-class family, was radicalized by the deaths of his father and the execution of his brother, leading him to embrace Marxist ideology and rise as the leader of the Bolshevik faction. His leadership culminated in the 1917 October Revolution, establishing a communist state in Russia, and his ideas, known as Leninism, profoundly shaped global politics in the 20th century.

Every educated man across the world knows about Lenin
Every country in the world has communist party
That was the impact of Lenin
Within 25 years of communism movement USSR made remarkable achievement in science and technology and it was a potent force militarily and politically across the world

Lenin's ethnic background has long been a matter of dispute among non-Soviet biographers. Robert Payne in his massive Lenin (New York, 1964) maintains that Lenin's father was not of Slavic, but of Chuvash ancestry, i.e., descended from a Turkic-speaking minority in the North of European Russia. As for Lenin's mother, she is said to be of Northern European stock. Payne concludes: "He [Lenin] was German, Swedish, and Chuvash, and there was not a drop of Russian blood in him."
Jewish
Does it matter?
Absolutely not essential to anything he did in his life, for better or for worse. Why do you think it's worth mentioning?
Him and the rest of the Bolshevik being Jewish lends a lot to the whole Judeo-Bolshevisk menace being the reality
If thats true it just proves how genuinely accepting the soviet system was. Lenin being whatever he potentially was, stalin a georgian, trotsky was jewish along with numerous other revolutionaries, along with numerous others.
Many of the revolutionary leadership of USSR were not ethnic Russian but from ethnic minorities. Lenin was Chuvash. Trotsky Ukrainian Jew, Stalin was Georgian Zinoviev and Kamenev were Jewish. The regional nationalities benefited from and participated greatly in the revolutionary process.
You can't be a prophet in your own country.
hmm literally all the leadership is massively disproportionately Jewish I’m sure future enemies and leaders won’t notice this
History is important part of life; we need to keep it whatever it takes because when you don't know know where you came from(past) you can't plan for a better future.

Alexander didn’t end serfdom because he was a liberal reformist that wanted to modernise russia, but because there was social unrest and peasant revolts and he was afraid it could escalate further (which it later did when there was an assassination attempt on his life)
Lenin didn't change the course of history, it was the choice of the russian people
Agreed, there are very few people who create history, and Lenin definitely wasn't one of them.
i think lenin was not evil as stalin
He was a cold calculating psychopath.
Of course he wasn’t

It is not possible to list the names of Dostoevsky, Kropotkin and Bulgakov in one sentence and one context. Bulgakov was a 20th century writer (d.1940), who could not possibly influence anything in the 19th century. Kropotkin was a Russian anarchist and geographer known as a proponent of anarchist communism. Bulgakov was a Russian, later Soviet writer, medical doctor, and playwright active in the first half of the 20th century. He is best known for his novel The Master and Margarita, published posthumously, which has been called one of the masterpieces of the 20th century.
Timeline is pretty great overall as a channel, but my god this one is boring.
Fantastic
59:00 At that time Lenin was unable to dictate a testament. Furthermore, there is no document.
I generally agree with Rosa Luxemburg, Emma Goldman, Peter Kropotkin and Bertrand Russell about the negative elements of the Soviet system as developed by Lenin., and the lack of democracy. However, he wasn't a monster like Stalin, and may have reduced controls once the civil war was over, and he was concerned with over bureaucraticization and may have restrained that in a way the arch bureaucrat Stalin could not and would not engage in, has he survived. Also if he wasn't so debilitated by strokes he may have been able to implement his last testament and installed Leon Trotsky.
It's complicated. I certainly tend to agree wit the Mensheviks that circumstances were not fully developed to allow such a leap, and as Marx had pointed out, pushing things beyond what material conditions supported would produce a terror as it has in France. While democratic centralism is key to any party, obliterating factions and dissent enabled and probably ensured problems. Also his alliance with the SRs led him to land reform demanded by the peasants which only would lead to resistance in collectivization and the tragedy of the 1930s.
However, reading Lars Lih's biography he also was in favor of voluntary collectivization, via example model collectives, and not collectivization at gun point as Stalin tried. But as Shlomo Avineri pointed out this was directly in opposition to the plan laid out by Marx and Engels in both The Manifesto and the Demands while his nationalization of industry are a stroke rather than piecemeal by buy outs and seizure of inheritances, would lead to more conflict and opposition. In short his policies guaranteed opposition and problems. The original proposals would also fit in with the NEP and Bukharin's proposals, and allow more balanced development. In short he laid the ground for the civil war and the kulak conflicts.
A lot of mistakes. But I don't think bad he survived healthier ,.the horror of Stalinism would probably have been avoided, even if there would be conflicts behind what was necessary.
Interesting read.
I'd say what you call the "horrors of stalinism" is a continuation of Leninism whether you like it or not, read his theories and political texts, Stalin was a very good writer and developed some deep thought. It's not like Soviet turned into a hellhole because one person died, that's not how things work at all. Stalins control is greatly exaggerated.
The fact is, Soviet got turned into an economic powerhouse and military superpower under him, and defeated one of the the biggest evil the world has ever seen. Whatever problems they had under Stalin, hunger for example - was eradicated thanks to the policies and measures he took.
Lenin was not fond of anyone, he was a very critical person, it's a total myth that he preferred Trotsky over Stalin.
I'd say the biggest problem for Soviet was censorship - especially cultural censorship (although that too is exaggerated to some extent) and that is probably paranoia that just never dissappeared from the counter-revolutionary days. Which is sad, but a bitter truth.
@@knugen16 Well, I for one DO NOT agree with you on your assessment of Stalin because anyone who defends him is a fool who obviously has not learned the full truth about his crimes and excesses under his rule for 29 years in the Soviet Union. Furthermore, I also DO NOT agree on your assessment of Lenin because of the way he behaved towards his fellow comrades and I am sure that NOT EVERYONE else would agree with you either and that your pathetic assumption that Stalinism was being as a continuation of Marxism-Leninism at the time just wasn't that true as well!
@@robertpolanco1973 You're wrong on every point, however it is your opinion as you pointed out. Therefore I don't care.
@@robertpolanco1973 Richard Pipes’ volumes on the Russian Revolution and the Bolshevik regime clearly show what a monster Lenin was.
Gotta love how 1918 soviet russia was more enlightened with its social policies than 2025 u.s. Really is quite pathetic if you think about it. Providing health care, housing, education, jobs for yr ppl, guaranteed, is the kind of enlightened society that we should all strive to achieve. We started to attempt it a few times with teddy roosevelt, fdr, lbj. But then we threw it all away again starting with Carter & reagan and everyone else since. Just don't understand why it's no anathema to help ones fellow man in the u.s. no other state in the world with as much money treats its ppl so poorly. Or to put it another way by another person:
"There must be something rotten in the very core of a social system which increases its wealth without diminishing its misery."
And yet the US is still around, and the Soviet Union isn't. Proof is in the pudding.
There's a law in the UK that allows you to withhold your taxes from the government and put the money in a trust until your government stops supporting war crimes and genocid.
e.g. look up "NO TAX FOR GENOCIDE"
why?
wtf Stalin ruined it all at the end 😢

Lenin was already starting to introduce market reforms. STALIN ruined it.
Cheers I'll go watch steve 1989 mre vids
Thanks Bolshevik’s 😀
He didn't ruin it, he won. Look at where we are now. It's already in America. You are short sighted. He pretty much sees that it's going to happen, he just didn't live long enough to see his master plan successfully played its part in reality. Look at America, the west and including the U.K. They ate just mad they didn't come up with it sooner. This has been the plan all along.

Personally, I have great respect for Vladimir Lenin as I had for Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels as well when it comes to developing their important visions for socialism and Communism in the world. Whereas, individuals like Stalin, Mao, and Pol Pot for having seriously FAILED in understanding their vision and philosophy and made the ideologies awful and giving them a BAD NAME in historical terms.
Lenin = Communism. Communism = Lenin. The most adorable character in the history of the world. The USSR is the first state in the world based on scientific, rational and altruistic foundations.
That's why millions died under his rule.

He was the greatest thinker of the 20 first century
Mm…while not being willing to ever publicly admit that his idea of communism was never sustainable, he should get credit for being willing to reach out to his capitalist enemies in order to help prevent his nation from falling directly into bankruptcy and anarchy. He’d have been good as a writer. At least then his ideas wouldn’t have led to the deaths of so many ppl
