Even though we face challenges everyday , even it seems to get worse everyday, the positive mindset and motivational contents like these always keep us moving forward. There are times when I just wish to be alone. Not forever, but just for a moment, or at least a day. To be alone on a deserted island at sunset, and do just one thing: think. This world changes so quickly; some want to improve it, while others want to make it worse. Social media, friends, hypocrisy, change… everything is so fast-paced. Sometimes it’s easy to ignore, but when you stop to think about it… it’s tough. Years go by, and we think we’re moving in a direction, only to realize in the end that we’ve been walking in circles.
Yes, the world needs to progress, but if every person in this world took a moment to stop, get to know themselves, accept themselves, help others, and strive to be their best version, I’m sure the world would already change.

Why did this make me want to cry? I really appreciate the nuanced perspective here, that life rn is so much easier and more prosperous than ever before, and at the same time it's so much harder and more complex than it ever has been. There's a quote from a show I really like called New Amsterdam where the main character says "we all think the system is too big to change, but we are the system, and we have to change". Changing our story and our mindset is the first step to changing the world.
I just want to add one missing piece to the story you told: cooperation. We have survived this long because we learned to work together, to respect and protect each other, to work for the common good of others, and to be of service. This is as much as part of the human story as struggle, competition, war, and killing. Maybe we can focus on the good we can do when we work together and care for each other. That is not naive, that is the key to our success as a species and we are forgetting its vital importance. Great video!

Same here, I'm just containing my tears. Life's hard, but when you see the complete image of humanity...I don't know, it gave me feeling about being part of something really big and special, even my problems and mental health issues for a moment seems not that important, all it's relative. Sometimes we just need to take a look at the full picture of everything to have a little of faith in the future of ourselves and the world.🖤

I can only comment on the people ive spoken too personally. Im not claiming this is a majority of people or anything. Ive debated with people on way they live the way they do. After ive gone through multiple steps of the argument, I tell them they are causing us head into dangerous scenarios that will affect our future generations. And it boils down to them not caring because its not affecting them personally. And that they will never see the consequences. Im still studying philosophy science and ethics but from my point of view it seems there are alot of people affected by a toxic mindset in our society where we dont have to justify our actions if we dont want to.

Consuming positivity can be helpful, but I've realized that the thing I found to be most gratifying is creating positivity. I had an awakening when I was a young man and I started volunteering at a local food pantry. I never felt more connected to my community. It's not easy to create positivity. It's a lot of hard work, but it gives you more control over the way the world is, even if it's just a small bit.

I think the overwhelming pessimism comes partially from the fact that we are at a crucial, defining stage of our development where one wrong move could lead to, or just outright end humanity instantly, and yet there isnt a single person in power who cares about anything more than their own pockets. Who holds the power? The people who want to fix the worlds problems, or the people who leverage those problems to become richer than 99.9999% of the population? Its worse when you realise there are a small number of people on the world who could end humanity on command. True, the chances are really low, but never zero. Its difficult to stay optimistic when you realise humanity gave power to a small group of people who only think about themselves. The rest of us are meanwhile too preoccupied fighting eachother.

“If we start thinking in decades and centuries…” there’s the specter of the problem again-capitalism, consumerism. We can’t think that far ahead because, like Junkies for money, we structure our society around quarterly profits and a model of endless growth. It is unwise, short-sighted, and physically unsustainable. Not only does it keep us from realizing a better future, but it’s also the direct cause of most of our problems: climate change, plastic pollution, wealth inequality, labor exploitation, poor healthcare, etc. the list goes on. Growth for the sake of growth is the philosophy of cancer. The parasite class has already infected us. We, the working class, need to stand together in solidarity. I know we all see this.

Which is better than it's ever been historically. It's easy to look at all the things wrong today and despair, but if you look across our history as a species you see a strong overall trend towards things getting better for people on average. Like the video suggests, it's important to not think of now as being an endpoint, but as just another point in a story that could keep going for millions of years. Things have gotten better and will likely continue to get better, at least over the long term. We're all able to be part of that trend if we choose to be. If something sucks, we can make an effort to change that, and over time, with enough of us trying, we'll succeed. Seeing bad things should not scare us into giving up, but give us cause to keep pushing forward.

"It's like we got handed a save file of a game where others put in millions of hours of work - and we can decide what game we want to play in the future"
For the fortunate enough in the world, this rings so true, yet - what the world expects of us has grown expontentially too. Simply being aware of the possible comforts the modern world could offer IF we drain our work-life balance away gives rise to an unending pressure to 'achieve 100% completion' from the save files we've been dealt from birth. However, if you are 'fortunate' enough to have your save file start at 50% rather than a 'less fortunate' 5%, your 100% becomes more of a 200% - what society expects of you rises exponentially. If I aim for 100%, starting from 50%, society deems me lazy and unambitious.
How we all perceive 'completion' and contentment changes so much based on what save file we started with. As the world's opportunities continue to grow and grow as society evolves, the pressures we place on ourselves to achieve these opportunities often suffocates us, no matter where we start in life.

Something I personally always hate hearing is that we have the capability to make a paradise for *us*. We aren't here just for ourselves anymore, that time has long since passed. We needn't be selfish. The strive to make such a selfish paradise is what got us to the position of the now in the first place. So many species already extinct, with many more endangered and others simply suffering under our cruelty just 'cause. A paradise would be something for everyone, everyone being all things that live on our planet.
It's not a good thing that something as simple as a wolf sighting for example can alert the news to such a high degree and trigger people to give responses equal to going to war with another country.

And then to discover, if you try to get answers, that they are related to each other - that things that make the wind make the waves, that the motion of water is like the motion of air is like the motion of sand. The fact that things have common features. It turns out more and more universal. What we are looking for is how everything works. What makes everything work...the truth is so remarkable, so amazing," -Richard Feynman, a lecture on curiosity.
