I live close to Bluff City Tackle and they are a real nice mom and pop setup that has a ton of fishing stuff. Also has a fairly recent archery range built indoors. They are actually in Illinois near St. Louis in East Alton. Love the videos! Keep them coming!
I might check out that Dark Water bait. A good back up bait to have around that I tried this summer for the first time is pork roast. I was planning on getting some chicken but those prices were a little too high so I went looking for a cheaper cut of meat & the pork roast was there. One of the best things about it is that it doesn't come off the hook & the smaller Channels that usually shred your baits, they can't get it off, especially if you are using the redder pieces of the roast. Now the fatty pieces they'll chew off so I'd recommend trimming that & using it for chum. But it sure did produce, the smallest Channel I caught with it was a 7lb and on every one I did catch, I got the bait back and could reuse it.
That would be a Blast fishing your tournament & meeting y’all! Great fishing but it looks like Shad is the bait still. My favorite is Shrimp Da Dimp here in California .🍤😉
I've been carrying Dark Water in my bait bucket for over a year now. I bought it as a "just in case" bait. I've used it and frankly, haven't done very well on it. In fairness to the bait though, I use it when I can't catch Shad or Bluegill so it's not optimal conditions. I've used cut carp as bait for years though so see no reason that what they market won't do just as well. It stays oily if you keep it sealed though and really has little to no scent. It does better if I add Anise or some other scent to it in the bag. I add scent when I open a new bag now and actually still have two unopened bags. That stuff lasts forever! Bluff City is who I ordered mine from. Nice people who have a place where you can donate to help buy a rod and reel for a kid who can't afford one, when you check out. It gives me hope for humanity whenever I see adults take that kind of interest in their community.
It was good you bought 2 different types of the knew bait. If you only bought the regular ND got nothing you may have not tried the red dark water and missed out on a possible new bait. Be blessed.

I thought the same thing two pounder definitely nothing over three small baits usually small fish my PB is a 52 pound flathead caught him with a green sunfish and love bait's are alot better for flatheads.
It looks like the red ones are soaked and some kind of blood I have used catfish nuggets chicken flavored soaked and chicken blood it works wonders and Butler Pennsylvania but my thing to go to up here what they love is Creek chubs
