Love this. I’d quite like to see the other side of this, the items that didn’t make it into the true capsule. The things you bought and you didn’t quite take to or couldn’t find a way to wear.
@@cccreme yes I know we could probably easily find photos of these items on instagram but hey who's got time for that ? And it would also make the video a little more interactive!!
Anna you’ve become part of my Sunday morning ritual. I get up before the husband and kids (the kids are teenagers), pour myself a cup of coffee, and watch your video. You are part of the 45 minutes I get to myself every week. With everyone working from home and going to school remotely its my only opportunity.
I really enjoyed this video!! It goes to show how important it is to invest in good quality pieces !! I just feel like it would've been nice for you to pop photos of every item on the screen to show how you wear them, even though I know they're all over your instagram. It just makes it a bit easier to visualize them :)
The leather jacket is so iconic hah! I've been going back and watching some of my old favs of yours and so many of these pieces are featured and it gives me ALLLL the warm fuzzies! Thanks for always making my Sunday morning Anna! xo
My best purchase ever was actually a fairly cheap one! It's a boxy grey wool-mix jumper from H&M which I bought as a student who loved the idea of a capsule wardrobe but couldn't afford to seriously invest. I think it cost me about £50 which was painful at the time, but 3 years later I am still in love with it and I still wear it at least 2x a week. It is the clothing item that feels the most 'me'. I'm keeping an eye out on depop to see if anyone is selling the same one, or one in a different colour, so that I have a back up!
Okay this might make me sound like a crazy person but seeing you talk about your capsule clothing and your longest standing clothes was really...comforting? Like a walk down memory lane! Lovely as always Anna 😊
I bought my Topshop denim jacket after school in 2009 and it’s still one of my favourite pieces! 28 weeks pregnant currently and nervous that my shoulders will be too broad for them this spring but still going to crack it out
Oh, Anna, this was a helpful and fun video. I was guessing pieces before you showed them: the tie dye shirt and the Ganni dress. When your capsule wardrobe journey started, (to me) you hit your stride, you exuded confidence and joy. Now I fangirl over you, thank-you for being an inspiration to me! ❤
My advice....never sell the Gucci loafers....I bought mine in the 90s, then didn’t wear them for ages....and low and behold they were perfect again! I would have kicked myself (with my non Gucci-ed feet) if I’d have sold them. Please could ask where your grey storage boxes are from? X
I loved this video. It's helpful to see which items stand the test of time. I'm always skeptical that pricier purchases will actually hold up well and still be in style. Thanks for sharing your tried and trues!
I have a black denim jacket from when I worked at Gap in 2016 that is my ride or die. And my prom dress from senior year (2009!) is a cocktail dress from the 60s that I thrifted and refuse to let go. I can only fit into it every 5 years, but it's one of my most treasured items.
Would you ever do a video on how you take car of and wash these items in your capsule wardrobe to make them last years? I struggle with this when wearing items very frequently
This is a question I get asked a lot! Some simple tips you might already know: 1. Separate lights and darks 2. Cold wash and gentle cycle for washing machine items 3. Turn jeans inside out and put delicates inside a mesh bag or pillowcase to protect them 4. Wash very delicate items by hand 5. Air dry and steam wrinkles out instead of using a drying machine for most items! Hope some of these tips help :) By the way, I'll be posting a video about capsule wardrobe care soon with more specific tips! xoxo
I've been watching you for so long that I remember every single one of these items!!! Although our style isn't exactly the same I always take my minimal styling from you Anna! You get it so right xxxx
This was such a great video idea, but I would have loved to have had more photos of you wearing each item flashing up. Maybe a follow up video would be styling up your oldest items in year order? Have been following your chanel & blog for years before your leather jacket came into your wardrobe ❤ xx
This was a fun video. I have a black peacoat from Gap that I've had forever. It's showing a little wear but I just love it and feel great whenever I wear it. BTW, the "Park" boot from Dear Frances is to die for. Very pricey, but the kind of item that will get a lot of wear and last forever. Zero break-in and just love the way it looks with skinny and straight leg jeans.
I have to say, I’m a longtime fan of Equipment, myself! I feel like their silk is really consistent and the style/cuts are really timeless, though I personally prefer Naadam’s recycled cashmere (highly recommend to all). On a separate note, along the lines of oldies-but-goodies: do you have any pieces you’ve inherited from your parents or grandparents that you’ve incorporated into your wardrobe? I wear stuff that belonged to my mum, dad, and grandmother - pieces that are really, really old, but that have stood the true test of time (through generations!) and are still stylish today, but also have incredible sentimental value.
Advice for shrunk jumpers. If you can get to it quick put it in a bowl / bucket of cold water then gently restretch by hand. Then dry from top to bottom instead of diagonally. I’ve done it to my favourite jumper. Slightly shorter now but still fits.
This was a great video! I fell in love with your capsule wardrobe content and it really made me think about my own purchases etc. and I feel like it really changed the way I buy clothes!
My longest-standing item in my wardrobe is also a peacoat! It's navy blue with black buttons, Calvin Klein from Macy's, and it felt like such an investment for 19-year-old me, but I still own it almost 7 years later, and if I took it to the dry cleaner soon, it would come back looking new. It is the perfect coat for when it's cold, but I still want to look smart. It fits well, and I love it. Not as long-standing in my wardrobe, but I have two pairs of shoes that I know will be here for a while: 1. The Doc Martens unisex oxford style shoe, they're so simple, black leather so very durable, and I wear them with just about everything and 2. black Timberland boots are my winter boot staple. They see me through snow, rain, sleet, ice, all of it, keep my feet toasty warm, and they are so comfortable. As someone with wide feet, it is so hard to find good, durable, comfortable shoes, so I am grateful everyday to have found staples that work!
My favourite piece in my wardrobe is a leather jacket too. But shockingly from a somewhat daggy High St store here in Australia called Jacqui E. I saw it in the window went in to try it on and had to have it. It was back in 2008, I think. Real leather and only about $250AUD. But it just has a way of finishing an outfit or bringing something together. It's just love.
Really enjoyed this video. I cannot believe how many of these you inspired me to get myself, and I still wear: Equipment shirts x 4 (completely different ones to yours), Re-Done jeans, Ganni Callie boots, even a bloody polo necked jumper LOL. Loewe puzzle bag (different colour)....and then some of the things I bought independently of you...the Ganni dress, Gucci loafers....and I also still love and wear all of these things, even though my style is not exactly the same as yours (I also dig a LOT of Isabel Marant, for example). I didn't move along in 2020: loungewear just isn't my thing and as a doctor I have continued to work outside the home the whole time anyway.
Love it. I remember most of these purchases. So inspired to dive into my wardrobe for a refine clear out and identification of MY all time five, long lasting capsule wardrobe purchases for the win!
Love this video! so nice to see the items that stood the test of time! I would love to see a video about capsule wardrobe - things that everyone says you should own if 'you have a capsule wardrobe' that you bought, but didn't end up wearing and got rid of
Loved this video!! My forever item is my moms old leather jacket from the early 90’s. Basically anything my mom gives me from her old early 20’s wardrobe I will keep forever. She was 1800000x cooler than me, for sure.
Great concept for the video! It would have been great to have a little clip or pic of you wearing the item as you described it and perhaps a text box to appear on the screen with the name/brand of the item as you discuss.
You can take your boots to your local cobbler and they can take some height off your boots. I've done this for a couple of pairs and it made a huge difference.
I bought the PERFECT beige pea coat over a year ago from & other stories, it was pricy BUT worth it. Still looks brand new, it’s perfectly oversized and makes even the most casual outfit look bomb. Best investment 🤍🙏🏻
Sometimes I think I know the content of Anna’s wardrobe better than my own 😂. The Whistles pea coat! Say it with me people! In all seriousness, I loved the video.
I have a beautiful brown leather jacket from Superdry of all places that I have had 10 years and I would genuinely save it if the house caught fire. Fits perfectly, the leather is buttery sort and it has aged so well I really hope my children end up with it some day.
The longest standing item in my wardrobe is a 3/4 sleeve cream shirt, it’s on it’s last legs and go as soon as I find a replacement. The next longest is pair on denim shorts that I made by altering a pair of my favourite jeans.
❤️ always love a wardrobe tour and this one was so great! I feel like I’ve adopted a similar mindset with my wardrobe, getting pieces that will last then sprinkling in the fun stuff here and there heheh
so glad you hung onto the gucci loafers as you nearly took them out of your wardrobe for selling when you had a clear out before you moved into your parents , it's was a phew !!!! moment for me x
Damn those items were giving me so much nostalgia! I remember watching your videos when you first got them. It's funny how someone else's clothing can have that effect on you haha!
This mostly just shocks me about how long I have been watching your videos. Have been watching longer than the clothes in your wardrobe. I remember you losing the plot over a leather jacket with gold hardware
My Gloverall Duffle coat, my Doc Martens, Vans and my Gap logo hoddies have lasted for ages in my wardrobe! I only just replaced a pair of Docs and my coat! I can't work out how long I had that coat for! It's got to be around the 7 year mark!
I’d love to see you try the Stylebook app or something similar where you could track your outfits and get all the stars on how much you wear everything and what the cost per wear is!!!
Love, love, love this kind of video. Can we see them styled please? For me top piece is Paige Skinny jeans and a leather jacket that I almost didn't buy - just finishes everything off

I loved the video! It would be really helpfull if you could do something like „all my clothes” without separating them on sesonal capsules. Just to show how much you actually own, and what kind of pices. I have this problem where i can’t tell how much is too much😅 So i thougt that maybey you could help people like me😅
I would get so tired of wearing the same shirts over and over again... Hands down to people to can, but I have to have more to choose from and switch things out from time to time. Have decluttered my wardrobe down to about 60 pieces and that is probably the lowest I could go. But like 1 or 2 dresses? Nope. That's not me, could never wear the same to every occasion ^^
I machine was my silk, but I’ve found the sueded silk from equipment really should be dry cleaned. You can get fab deals on equipment and their sister brand Joie on eBay and poshmark. No need to pay hundreds! I usually spend under $30.

great video! would have loved to see some try-ons or photos of how you've worn or styled the pieces included, at least for some. perhaps a part 2? :)
Ooh yes, agree! Editing in some photos of you previously wearing the pieces would be ace to see the shape/fit/styling you talked about!
Agree! It's hard to imagine what they look like from a talking description
@@cccreme yes I know we could probably easily find photos of these items on instagram but hey who's got time for that ? And it would also make the video a little more interactive!!

I’ve bought the Ganni boots and the Naomi skirt a Demy Lee sweater because Anna loved hers so much and they will all be in my wardrobe forever
How do you find the boots? I'm tempted but worried they will be too high and not comfy.
@@danaweaver4129 they are definitely high-ish for everyday but comfy despite that!
