    Hey folks! I transcribed the entire solo (Etude + 2 choruses improv) and made it available at my website. Those of you that already bought the 1 page version, simply email me through my site and I'll send you the new updated one! Thanks and I hope you enjoy.

    Real nice Tim. Glad your back in the saddle. We need you. So tragic about Dave. I had no idea until Ed posted his song, "For Dave". I am reading a great book I recommend, "Myself Among Others", by George Wein. (Of course he's a Boston Guy, Lol). He points out on page 280, that "Mabel Mercer sang "Les Feuilles Mortes" and Charlie Bourgeois played it for Stan Getz and he recorded it as "Autumn Leaves", thereby introducing a new jazz standard." You sound great!

    Could you arrange chord accompaniment, just like you did in the "Blue Bossa" video? That lesson was very valuable and I was very pleased to be able to play the accompaniment ... please! Thank you!

    Great vids Tim. I just bought my first vibraphone and barely know what to do with it. Favourite album, possibly Lionel Hampton Quintet with Buddy de Franco - Flying Home is awesome. I also love Lionel Hampton playing I Got Rhythm with Benny Goodman at the Carnegie Hall 1938. And what about Gary Burton on Donna Lee with the GRP band

      Great recommendations! I also love Hamp's recording of Dinah with Benny Goodman in 1936.

      stuart Maxwell I was fortunate enough to see Lionel Hampton in the 70s when I was in high school. He was a senior citizen by that time but it didn't slow him down abut.

      Lionel Hampton also played for my dad's high school graduation dance!

    Question: Do the slashes in the measures near the end just mean he is doing improv? Or are they just not shown because the PDF costs money on his website? I'd just like to know before I decide whether or not to purchase the PDF...

    • @TimCollinsVibes
      @TimCollinsVibes  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the question - this is one of the first solo etude videos I made, and the notes that you see in the video are the exact notes on the PDF (not including the actual melody to 'Autumn Leaves')... so yeah, the slashes are improvisation based off the written etude... in my later videos I've started transcribing the whole improv parts as well, since people started asking about it. I hope that helps! If enough people are interested I would transcribe this one too.

    • @chlochlochenel2523

    What notes were you playing on the piano?

    • @TimCollinsVibes
      @TimCollinsVibes  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I was just playing a walking bass and simple chord voicings as accompaniment.
